I'm loving every minute of this so far. I have nothing against PSU, I actually kind of like them, but I wanted to pound them given how the media had practically awarded them a win before the game was even played.

 

If that happens, Charlie Strong will be headed to tOSU.

 

Why would Fickell take that job? He seems like an Ohio guy through and through and could easily parlay his DC time into a far better job than FAU. Weird

It'll be interesting to see what happens with Kiffin. Talking heads were mentioning that Orgeron may try to poach him from Saban.

Personally I'm interested in seeing what happens with Bielema. Hog fans are already calling for his job but I think he'll get one last year.

You have to look at the move holistically, not just from a football perspective:

Pros:

- More Money

- Better Basketball

- Better Football

- Better Academics

- More egalitarian conference; are you listened to as much as OSU or UM? No...but they don't dominate in the way that UT does in the Big XII

- Better Competition (3 other elite programs vs 2 in the Big XII).

Cons:

- Harder to recruit in Texas

- Worse Baseball

- No rivalries/Oklahoma (yet)

- Longer drive for road games I would think...the only easy-ish one for you guys now must be Iowa...no KSU, ISU, KU anymore

I think you guys came out alright all things considered and definitely not the worst deal of all schools that moved; Rutgers sucks. Maryland sucks. Texas A&M gets hype but the wheels fall off every damn year. CU looked like a bust until this year.

Football is cyclical. You'll be back again soon enough.

 

Big 10 loves our money, but won't change things that don't benefit those other two. Penn St has more leverage than we do.

 

 

I'm curious as to what you mean by this, what do you want the conference to change? You want a better end of the year game? You want the refs to give you calls in big games? You'll have to outbid OSU.

It amazes me how pissed off Nebraska fans can be when we don't run up the score but get absolutely butt sore when it happens to us.

That is exactly the point I am trying to make. We do not run up the score. We win with class. If we are winning and we are close to scoring, we either take a knee or at least DO NOT GO FOT IT ON FOUTH and FOUR when we are up by 52 points. That is all I am saying. Our fans definitely do not chant "Go for six" when our team is obviously up by 52 points. Is that a fair statement?

NU scored 22 points on Fresno and 28 points on Wyoming in the 4Qs of won games and that's just this season. You all were notorious for it in the past. Everyone runs up scores. Everyone. If you want a mercy rule go play pop warner.

That is extremely flawed argument. Those games were not over and were very close until the fourth quarter. In fact, Nebraska had a chance to run the score up and they did not. Did you actually watch those games!?

You do not honor a team by singing GOODBYE when the game was obviously one-sided, especially if you truly wanted to honor a fallen player. Ohio State's fan base is well known for being horrible. It was uncalled for and I am sure the players agree as well. I am not defending our play today. We were definitely not prepared for this game but we also do not deserve Urban Meyer wanting to get votes by ramming points down our throats and having their fan base disrespect us when they clearly won the game at the first 10 seconds of the second half.

You know most fanbases chant that when beating a ranked opponent late in a game. Welcome to the real world.

I do not mind that Ohio State was scoring. That is their right and yes, it is our job to stop them. However, when your fan base is chanting for you to go for it at 4th and 4 when you are already up 52 to 3, that crosses the line into BEING A COMPLETE AND UTTER DOUCHBAG CLASSLESS FAN BASE AND COACHING STAFF. Especially when your dirty player was responsible for knocking the QB and sending him to the hospital. The hit on TA was not necessary given that TA was heading for the side line. Yet, you continue to pound a team when they are down. That is the definition of being classless.We have never done this to an opponent. Our fans are the class of the nation. I am sorry but losing is one thing, but when the opposing fans start singing goodbye after an obviously one-sided match, that becomes CLASSLESS. However, that is why this fan base will get punished when Michigan rolls in there and rips them a new one. Plus, there is a reason why the Cleveland Browns will never succeed. They are home to the worst fans in the nation. What goes around, comes around.

If you have to constantly say how much class your fan base and team have then you don't have class.

Some of you guys are pretty damn sensitive. Seem to love to complain about how horrible fans of other teams are when most of the "offensive" behavior is commonplace throughout the country. So we might as well not even try to win the West!!!

I'm not saying don't try, I just think that as far as bowls go the second place team in the West may end up with a better draw. UW did play OSU and UM close but after watching OSU tonight and UM lately I don't feel so great about our chances.

You should've seen this coming. We barely beat Purdue and Illinois this year. And we lost to them last year. We all thought - "well, we won this year!". Doesn't matter. As soon as we play a team with a pulse, we lose. Badly.

 

It's going to be like this forever.

 

I recommend saving yourself the heartbreak. Stop watching. It's over. We tried. But 4 hires after Tom and all we got is a perennial 50% win rate coach. That's all we could muster. And he fits us well. Because that's all we're gonna be. We won't be Rutgers, but we will be Iowa. In 2050, they'll look at us the way they look at Minnesota now.

I've joked about Nebraska reaching MInnesota status in the past but those were just jokes. While the glory days are probably going to be hard to match in the future it doesn't mean they're completely out of reach, all it takes it the right set of conditions to arise. We've seen that recently with ND, FSU, and now maybe Washington. Granted those are just single seasons but I digress.

Nebraska won't become Minnesota, the space between the programs is too large. You're just going to have to come to grips with the same reality that almost everyone else is living in with the state of college football today; with the conference restructuring and evolution of the game it is very very hard to build dominant programs...there's really only one in the entire country and that's Alabama. The days of the domination you saw in the Big Eight will never return, you have too much competition. Penn State, Michigan, and Ohio State are in the same boat. The days of Ohio State just strolling through the conference only sweating UM are loooong gone. They were reminded of that two weeks ago. Your pining for something that you'll never get not, and that isn't because of some failing on you're part, it's just damn near impossible. Settle in to the new status quo, you're going to have to fight for every game. There's more parity. Everything is more competitive and it is much more fun this way.

Running up the score is part of the game and will be as long as there are subjective rankings. OSU has something to prove after losing to PSU so they're going to do it every chance they get. Nebraska does it as well. Everyone does it. Things could be worse...this is still a better game than the '14 B1G Championship game.
