Except this isn't UCF joining the Big Ten.  Nebraska always wins the division in recruiting so it's not really comparable.

But did we win in recruiting because we got good players or because we got better rated players.  The two are generally,  but not always synonymous.

  2. Berns was not a speedster, but he mostly punished each and every tackler that came after him.  A brute of a back.  I see Roy about every weekend.  Hard to believe he was such a beast on the field.  Looks like a normal everyday guy...with guns...and a great personality.

Buckhalter, Baldwin, Benning and Philips Tom's all criminal backfield and not one to be proud of.  But he is innocent until proven guilty.

Buckhalter -- 20+ years after his association with Tom and Nebraska football.

Baldwin - psychotic episodes, nothing to do with Tom

Benning - I guess I missed what his crimes were, inform me please?

    Philip - that one sticks

Truth.  Clemson has fired guys....Bama.......Wisconsin....OSU is an anomaly.  MOst guys leave for other gigs, but some are maybe persuaded to leave.

In year 2, I think we regressed.  I realize the loss of Stan, Oz, Foster and Farmer hurt, but who looked improved?  Were we better despite the performance.  Not calling for heads.  Too early, BUT there needs to be some soul searching this off season for sure. What we have doen is not working...

I'd agree.  I'm not in the place of thinking anyone of the coaches need to leave, yet.  But I sure am in the place where I think ALL of the coaches need to do some serious study and learning this off season.

I wonder if Frost watched LSU and learned how to call a game and burn clock.

I wonder if Chinander watched and learned from the best DC in the country.

I wonder if some posters on here watch "The View" and mimic their whining and nagging negativity.

Tried to find the article.  Came out a few years ago.  Talked about fallen programs went back to their roots to get good again.  I figure NU needs to do some soul searching.  What will work on the plains in November?  What kids can we reliably get year in and year out?  What is our identity?  I'm not saying go back counter/trap and option (I'd like that.  A lot) But get back to being the most physical.  Being fundamentally sound in the basics ie tackle, catch, block....Follow McBrides philosophy on D.  If they couldn't fly we didn't look at them.  Speed, tackling and then size.....Play form whistle to whistle and let teams know that even if the win, they didn't beat us.....

Frost came from and grew up with this culture.  Cut the BS and instill it.  Don't wait for the kids to "develop it".  Teach it.  Set the expectations.  Establish what you want.

That was McBride's adopted philosophy.  It took a few years of having the Florida States of the football world torch us before T.O. had Charlie and the other coaches go to clinics, one even hosted by FL State.  Then the light went on and our defensive make up changed.  Hopefully the current Husker staff can be flexible and learn too.

Might as well put myself on record so I can gloat about how smart I am a year from now, or I can forget and pretend like I never said anything if I'm wrong

First, here's something I really believe is going to happen. Adrian is going to go into the offseason pissed off with a chip on his shoulder. He's gonna go back down about 15 pounds, he's gonna get an extra step back, and with freshly healthy legs (and shoulder?), a more developed line and receiver corps, hopefully some progress by Frost as a playcaller, and another year of personal development, is going to come out like a different player to the tune of All B1G honors.

I've been really confused by people's opinions on Adrian this year, and I guess a big part of it is a "what have you done for me lately" perspective. It seems clear to me that he was in a funk and that something mentally/physically wasn't right. But it can be. It was much more his freshman year. He's gonna come out guns blazing next season. Something to the tune of 3,300 passing with 22TD/6INT and 700 rushing with 12 TDs.

Second hot take I'm not as sure about but think has a real potential to be possible, we'll have a top 25 scoring defense next year. Our defense has improved the last two years, and while there were still too many times where you wanted to pull your hair out, dare I say the defense was a hair's width away from being actually good. The only thing that kept them was consistency, and a big part of why was because when they played their best, the offense would stutter and stall, and the D would eventually get worn down and break.

There were a lot of times last year where our defense was playing with it's hair on fire and dominating for moments. The last 2.75 quarters yesterday was one example. A very large chunk of the Colorado game was another. They'll take another huge step up with some newly developed talent and a more consistent offense.

On a couple of threads I've rather joking posted that our defense kept Iowa out of the redzone the entire game.  Of course they scored 3 touchdowns from well beyond the red zone.  One thing Frost has talked about, a lot, is that as bad as thing look at the end of the game, it has normally come down to just three or four bad plays per game, when people were out of position, or blew assignments.  Big plays are usually evidence of just that...somebody blew it. So defense could shine.

The only concern I have is reflected to me from the media, talking about losing so many seniors on defense this year.  Guess we'll see.  If I'm not always a glass half full kind of guy,  I am always a "damn I'm glad I have a glass" kind of guy.

To be fair, if Frost wasn’t a Nebraska legend and had 3 losing seasons in a row, every person on the board would want him gone.

Absolutely.  But he is a Nebraska legend.   And the blatant failures of the last 3 coaches have left this program in shambles.  He's learning on the job, no doubt.  I feel bad for folks that expected him to come in and replicate his success at UCF.  From the start of his hire, I felt the 7 years would be needed to get this program back to respectability.  I still think that.  In the mean time, seasons may and will suck.

I agree, BIG10 is different from AAC and PAC 12, but we haven’t even been successful at beating the bottom feeder PAC-12 school (Colorado). I also doubt we can beat the good AAC or any PAC-12 programs. So, I don’t think this is no longer a viable excuse for us to make a comparison to.

If I hear one more time that the players are the issue, I’m going to vomit. I keep hearing there is no leadership on this team from the players. Wake up people, OUR COACHES ARE THE LEADERS!!!!!

By the way, let’s remember that Frost’s first recruiting class are Juniors next year. Enough with the Riley And Bo P. recruiting  classes excuses!!!

By saying they are Juniors next year, you mean to say they were sophomores this year, the only year by which they can be judged.  And, they were a class for which Frost had about 20 days to assemble.  A good portion of his recruits are not playing this year.  Now, Frost himself has a lot of growing to do as a coach.  A lot.  But don't go making vague, unsupportable rants about things that don't, at this point, matter.

For everyone hating on Frost and his offensive play calling....  Take a look at Iowa's points allowed this year per team.  24 is the most they have allowed.  Plenty of things to second guess but their defense created problems for everyone they faced this year.  Our offense wasn't the issue today.  Our defense and special teams are a topic for other threads.

But, but, our defense never allowed the Herky-Jerks offense into the red zone.  Not even once during the whole game.!!!   :-)

    This ^^^^

We've already lost if we need to try to placate the mouth breathers who erroneously believe Frost’s days are numbered at this point.

I would, at great sacrifice, be willing to occasionally do testing on their lettuce, just to see if it is laced with some potent chemicals other than THC.  Just researched based mind you.

  15. We had a great, day delayed Thanksgiving Dinner today.  My granddaughter is truly beginning to understand football and my grandson looks like he's in Devo when we put a red bowl on his head.  All very encouraging to me.

Oh, I think we have some young guys on the Huskers that will shine next year.  That's encouraging too.

And us old people remember what National Championships look like

And we/I remember year after year he ridiculous calls for T.O.s head.  He took over 10 years to realize the Florida States of the football world were killing us with speed.  So, after 10 years he sent his coaches to clinics, some hosted by Bobbie Bowden, to learn.  And we got better.  Had he been fired, we'd have never seen the 90's success.  No, Frost isn't TO.  Yes, TO was winning more (also he inherited the best program in the country, which we tend to forget) and the years do make a difference.  Canning coaches hasn't worked for us over the past 20 years.  Let's try something new (old).

    Let’s be frank.

It has been nearly 20 years of this...abysmal coaching. And I do not see anything from Frost that suggests he is different. I’m not saying the program will fire him now, but, as I see it, it’s inevitable.

So who could this program turn to?

Keep Frost, fire you from this board.  What a tired, tired, tired take.
