Hmmm, odd timing if so. 

How many times since the Martinez days have we raved about incoming qbs and how many have we played? LOTS, AND 0 BESIDE TM and TA. Same story year after year. Coaches have to recognize weaknesses and change game plan. The one position we were worse than was at coach. Bottom line.

Iowa was better than us at one position and one position only but that is the only position they needed to be better. Really thought Tommy would progress in his decision making and overall play but hasn't happened. At least next year we will hopefully have POB show up to play in case TA has the continual brain farts displayed this year. Of course the play calling has been questionable at times but that doesn't excuse TA from not taking care of the ball. Just a real disappointing season from a team that was better than most if not all of their competition and a lot of that is on the coaches, but the most important position on the field didn't do them any favors either.

Where did I say "real" fan. I said "normal" fan. The ones that can actually see what is happening, and understand it takes awhile to clean up a shithole of a program that Nebraska football has become over the past 10-15 years. The "normal" fan that doesn't call for the firing of everyone in the athletic department, because people are so impatient, and believe that "by golly, we are Nebraska, we should win by 70 every weekend" The "normal" fan that sees that all of the "real" fans are undermining recruiting and creating a self fulling prophecy of more and more ineptitude that is Nebraska football.

 

Go ahead, get your wish of Trev Alberts, and Scott Frost or whatever other former players you want in here to run the athletic department. Never mind the fact that you will have permanently set this program back for good, and burned whatever last hope there was of having a return to prominence.

 

And if you are brain dense enough not to understand what the point of this post is, then you are part of the problem, and not part of the solution.

win by 70 every week, not needed. Not losing to Illinois and Purdue in the same year,....yah that's needed, because, that's what kills recruiting...not the fans. Also, seems to me after your 10-15 years of crap football the Nebraska "Normal Fan" is the fan willing to accept mediocrity....fun times.

The fact that the coaches put Davie back in after he was so bad early shows they have horrible judgment. Ozigbo does well every time he touches the ball, and yet hardly gets to play. It's terrible.

The only lack of heart I see is here in this chatroom. Riley may not be Weeb Ewbank, but he has coached well enough to win a lot of games this year that turned into L's based on some last second fluke plays and bad luck.

 

When nebraska comes back to win this game today you guys should feel awfully embarrassed.

lets be honest...we are at the floor.

 

I mean more of a national perception and hurting difficult recruiting and making it worse or almost impossible. Kind of like OSU's recruiting.....

 

like i said...we are playing on espnU...kids who are in HS have no clue who we are(except Nebraska kid)....and the general college fan has no interest whatsoever in knowing what's going on with our program...at the floor.

The accessment was that we had as much talent as any team in the West Division. I never heard anyone say we were close to National Champ talent level. West Div, talent folks does not translate to talent. Were talking about the worst division in college football, we should have equal or more talent to them.

 

Its not all coaching people. Coaching is some of the issue, but the players don't even have enough pride to play for themselves. Thats just what kind of players that were recruited, same players who finished last year 4-4 and started this season 3-5/6.

 

No talent. No depth. No coaching. No heart. No support from the fan base right now. Something has to be done. Either bench entire team and play walk ons or at least Nebraska grown products with pride in the team/program.

completely disagree...it's 99% coaching....Our OC and DC are horrendous...those hires are on the HC.

Football is a team sport. If everyone is not on the same page, the wheels come off. All it takes is for a couple people not to "buy in to the system" and the system ends up being f*cked.

Gerry is not very good!

 

Gery is an excellent talent. You're seeing what happens with poor schemes and poor coaching.

 

His tackling sucked last year, sucks this year, and now his coverage is terrible. He is a talent, but he just doesn't seem to get it!

 

He was All-Big last year. It's Banker/Stewart.

 

so, when crick went from all world to crap his senior year that was coaching too??? the coaches were the same. I agree the coaches are horrible right now, however, the only thing they could do to make Gerry look better is if they put him on the sideline....he looks extremely lost....at the end of the day, you can still tackle and take correct angles..he can't do either.
