  1. Hi all, this is the first thread that I've started here.

In 1999 we lost a mid-season game to Texas (our only loss), then came back to crush them in the Big XII CCG en route to a #3/#2 ranking.

In 2011... it's time to do the same thing to Wisconsin!

I'll be honest, after spending a weekend in Madison and getting the verbal abuse I received at that game..I hope they lose every game they have left on their schedule. Payback for me isn't worth having to listening to a group of fans talk smack about a team who's never won anything that really matters.

  2. I thought he explained his point pretty well. What are you having trouble understanding?

I'm not saying we don't deserve the lack of media attention and respect with some of the eggs we've layed, but, how many big wins do we need to get them back on our side? Im sure everyone has noticed that for most, it wasn't how well Nebraska played, but how MState didn't show up. And before you say it, yes I know that some of the media we could care less about... Herbie...

I just don't think he has a point, Knapp. Talking about getting the media back on "our side", when there has been a very large amount of positive public publicity for our program all year long DESPITE the Wisconsin blowout. If we really weren't getting any respect for our MSU win then we wouldn't have jumped up to 10th in the polls, our announcers made mention of it but I haven't seen that actually be talked about as a point of emphasis, just a sidenote. He also talks about some media we "could care less about", which should be couldn't, but whatever, and mentions Kirk Herbstreit, who has had plenty of positive things to say about Nebraska over the years.

There is no lack of media attention, as he puts it.

he, is Peoriahusker..i can see you and I are going to have fun on here! maybe lack of media attention was the wrong choice of words..maybe it's respect..when do we win games because we are good and not because the other team didn't show up. it must not just be me, it seems to me that others on the board are answering the original post with some interesting answers...7 more games, a BCS bowl etc. I'm trying to determine why you are having such a hard time grasping this one.

  3. I agree. When we win out we WILL be noticed, especially if we win big at Happy Valley and in Michigan. I think we can beat both of those teams.

Honestly, I disagree. If we win the B1G this year, all we will hear is "Oh, the big ten is just a weak conference..."

I think we need to win a BCS bowl game in impressive fashion, possibly vs. an SEC team or Oregon/Stanford.

    I agree 100%

  4. What is the original poster talking about? We're in the media all the time....we're ranked 10th in the BCS for pete's sake. We've had 5 straight abc/espn games, beat a top 10-ish team, gotten college gameday at one of our stops, etc.

We are in the media plenty, and they are plenty on our side.

really? first, Wisconsin got gameday..we are ranked 10th in the BCS, and very few people in the media chalk that up to us being a good team. My example was the Michigan State game where almost everyone wrote the game off as Mstate not showing up...we are on national television because of the conference we find ourselves in now among other things. Don't get me wrong, we get more attention than we did when we sucked, I just hate to use that as a measuring stick.

We haven't gotten as much respect as we should have for that Michigan St. win IMO. I think you can attribute the Mich. St. win to a bit of both....NEB playing a damn good game and was a better prepared team and also Mich St. being a bit gassed from all of the consecutive big games they had. I would honestly favor the former though b/c that Neb D played with their hair on fire and the offensive line was getting some solid blocks that sprang Burkhead for 130yrds rushing.

was the first time all year I saw our Dbacks being physical at the line..that made a huge difference in my opinion.

  5. Any of you Huskerpedia-ers want to explain why you chose the HP side of the Max-HP dispute? I thought it was pretty clear that David was slighted pretty hard, and from an outside perspective I definitely sided with him. I'm just wondering why you would choose to support HP after the rightful 'owner' was wrongfully booted. Just curious is all.

Also, pray to god that cactusboy doesn't come over here. If there is a worse poster out there, I have yet to find him.

didn't take sides, was just tired of all the stupid banter on the other site with regards to the law suit etc...plus I don't pay to post on the Internet and heard good things about this board.

  7. A conference championship or a BCS bowl game and nothing less.

so I mention to my oldest son(13) tonight that we are back up to 9...his reply to me, "I want us to be #1"...

    that's my boy!!

Excellent work on keeping that championship mentality up for the kids who can't remember the glory years. I too want to be #1.

ya, both my boys were all upset over Wisconsin..ticked off etc(so was I)..I said, son, I watched many games with my dad where we lost a big game that kept us from winning a championship..I had to wait my time, you can wait yours..

  9. They did a quick video showing classic highlights like 'The Catch' and then they showed the comeback against Ohio State and labeled it 'The Comeback.' And followed it with the clip from the locker room. It was indeed one of the best videos they've done; almost as good as the OU '09 video.

was there as well, that video sealed the deal for me..I loved that we actually changes some things up to get the crowd going...Pelini's speech was a great added touch.

  10. This has probably been discussed at length but excuse a newbie. What's your favorite Husker game all time?

    For me:

In person- 2001 vs OU. Knocking out both QB's was fantastic.

Not in person- 1995 Fiesta Bowl. It was Spurrier after all

What Champaign isn't mentioning is that our friend(resident nut) ended up walking onto the field during the game day production for that 2001 OU game and stood on the sidelines with the team for the first 2 quarters..keep in mind, this was when security was at an all time high due to 9/11. At the end of the second Q, an official came over and asked him for his credentials..he said "what credentials, I just walked in here with the others."...the single funniest thing i've seen at a game. no they didn't kick him out..he sat next to us on the stairs..

  11. What happened over there at Huskerpedia? The server expload?

Law suit been going on for a few years. Original owners vs those that took over. Settled now to the original owners and with the Judge's decision comes a 30 day shutdown of HP. Not sure if Pedia comes back after that or just shuts down and they concentrate on Max. Either way, some of us are coming here.

    GBR

It's turned into a political board where everyone is talking about all the legal stuff etc...I come to these sites to get away from business and talk Huskers..not listen to more crap about who makes the money etc..
