Also begs the question, how good would this offense be if we could get a short field?
The same thing has been running through my mind as well. I predict that if we play field position against Ohio State in the first half, we'll win. This is a hugely understated aspect of our game.
Beck has got to find a way to at least get a couple first downs on our first offensive drive of this game. Then a punt by Maher pinning them inside their 20. That would be so much different than 3 & out and giving them a short field and demoralizing the blackshirts.

It's Cassidy.

However, he made guys like Crouch or Tmart look like Dan Marino throwing the ball.
Agreed. I specifically being at a game where he sent a relatively short-medium range pass five yards above his receiver's head. Seriously; five yards too high. And talk about "skipping rocks" out there. He would bounce passes a good 3 - 4 yards in front of his receiver.
But his legs were every bit as good as Crouch/Frazier, he had great run vision.

In a hypothetical where we turn the ball over zero times...there's really no reason that we can't score 40 against every team remaining on our schedule.
What I want to at least see in this game in the first quarter is to play field position against our opponent for once. Whether we take the ball first or not, on our first offensive drive we HAVE to at least get a couple first downs and then have a monster punt by Maher inside their own 20.
I can see Taylor carrying the entire team on Saturday night. But as NUance said...my heart says we win, but my brain says otherwise.

As I wasn't at the game, I went and picked up some beer.
It was all the better when that last second ticked off the clock lol.

I'd like to see them both on the field at the same time more often. Seems like we are missing a bit of an opportunity there.
I'm not nitpicking here, but the idea is that with a game-ready Ameer on hand, it allows us to keep both of them fresh. Being on the field at the same time defeats that. I agree that we could do great things with them both in on the same play, but I think Beck sees the advantage of keeping both of them fresh.

This is a mind f#*k.
+1 to this. I held back from bad mouthing them in the lead up to the game. But now that it's over, I'll admit it...I'm actually glad they lost the way they did. Squandering a 21 point spot on the road. I mean, that's just embarrassing.
Act like you been there. Wait...you can't, because you haven't. And that's no disrespect to our resident Bucky or the other seven Wisconsin fans that have an ounce of class, seriously. Maybe they'll take back some class from Lincoln and apply it.

I'm one of few OSU fans that absolutely despise Wisconsin more than Michigan even though they are our main rival.
Welcome, BME. Good luck on Saturday to your team.
Your quote above prompted me to mention that I completely relate. Your Wisconsin was my Kansas State for at least a decade. While most fans probably would have named Texas as their "most hated," for me it was always the purple pussies.

i am starting to rethink this 'earn your blackshirt' business. you earn them when you are named a starter for the defense. and only starters for the defense should earn them (notwithstanding henery).
Completely agree with this. I'm glad that Bo takes the tradition seriously and puts his own emotion, blood, sweat, etc. into handing them out. That's the most important part - that he cares about how it's done.
It's just never made sense to me. Didn't they earn it when they got the start each week?

T-Majic redeems himself from the multi fumble issue last week..
I think we can all agree that he already redeemed himself from the end of the 2nd quarter on out on Saturday...

From our perspective, the main call that was clearly called correctly was reviewing the spot on their second-to-last play. If that one had not been reviewed, 100% of us would be saying the officiating was terrible. But they got that one right, and that's an objective perspective. He clearly didn't cross the marker. They reviewed it. Ball had a stroke. They lost the game.
-
I'll go out on a limb and bet that their reviews of even the non-football aspects would have been "higher" had they not squandered a 21 point spot.
-
Agree with the OP - Ameer deserves huge props.
It's really all about rotation at this point. Regardless of who's getting more carries or being more effective, the main thing is that Rex isn't going to be gassed by the end of the 3rd quarter. You could see that paying huge dividends for our ground game in the 4th quarter.

made good decisions
This one's probably biggest for me. Ability level only takes you and the team so far until you start melting down. He doesn't melt down anymore, basically not at all.
He's starting to get that fifth sense when he needs to tuck it and run it. And the thing that's actually allowing that to happen is that our line is buying him the time to do that.
Those two things working in tandem are changing our offensive attack completely.

Find the intensity, blackshirts.
-
We need Caveman back in there...
-
Come on, 'shirts. Blow this sh!t up.
-
And Stafford makes up for his 1st half blunders.
Hell yes.
-
Hell yes. Hell yes. Hell yes. Hell yes. Hell yes.

Jason f*cking Ankrah, bitches.
-
There's the intensity. There's the drive and passion to win.
More long drives like that, please!
-
Again: F*ck our offensive effort.
No effort. No brains. Aimless and scattered.
-
I told you before this season that we would not get 8 wins. I was laughed at, ridiculed, mocked. After the UCLA game I repeated my sentiments and was blasted again. Well, all of you people who said my "realistic" expectations were inaccurate and stupid and whatnot, now you are getting a firsthand view of what I was talking about.
I'm still going to ridicule you.
Please...PLEASE for the good of us all...close your account on this board.

Great drive.
Our offensive effort on those first two drives were what kept us out of this f*cking game though.
Bo...if you don't adjust on defense in the half I swear...F*CK.

My guess on this one is one of two things:
1. The dudes were so trashed out of their gourds, they mistook "two beautiful college girls" for two stadium crew staff members who merely directed them to the nearest exit
or
2. They really were two beautiful college girls who trolled the sh!t out of them by giving them directions to "The Q."
