  1. Sources say O'Brien has garnered interest from the Vikings and the Texans. I think most thought it was only a matter of time before he returned to the League. Great coach and great person. Just hope he gets a better QB to work with than Christian Ponder or Matt Schaub/Keenum. I think he would prefer to bring Hackenburg with him as he seems like a sure-fire NFL starter someday.

If he leaves, could Penn St. possibly top his hiring? Who would they get? Kubiak?

  2. How weird is it that the kid seemed content on playing S in college until his visit here. I can see him, Taylor and Beck sitting in the film room going through our offensive plays showing how successful Coltin could be in the right offense, particularly ours. Just seems to have the thought he can play QB with the big boys now after our visit so if this actually happened kudos to Taylor, Beck and staff for showing not necessarily when a recruit will fit into our plans, but how and why they will be successful when given their shot a la Ronnie.

  3. We have a lot of really good RB prospects still. Even if you take Clement of that list, you are still left with Williams, Jojo, Newby and Taylor. Not too bad of a list and you have to like our chances to land at least one of those 4.

We can forget Newby. Too scared to leave the WC.

Yep. He got the UCLA offer he was waiting for.

  4. Not so, according to the Davey O'Brien semifinalist list. I think he was snubbed. Taylor means as much to his team as both Braxton and Denard.

    Braxton Stats so far: Passing 59% 1384 yds 11 TD's 5 INT's. Rushing 959 yds 10 TD's.

    Shoelace: Passing 53% 1264 yds 9 TD's 9 INT's. Rushing 900 yds 6 TD's.

    Taylor: Passing 67% 1615 yds 15 TD's 4 INT's. Rushng 403 yds 6 TD's.

According to these statistics, Taylor definitely deserves to be one of the two BIG qb's on the semifinalist list. Taylor's at least as good if not better than Teddy Bridgewater of Louisville or Marcus Mariotta of Oregon (although Mariotta can scoot!)

Here is a list of the other semifinalists:

    What do you guys think?

  5. In my opinion, There is tons of ability on Nebraska, and thats my whole point!! It is all being wasted by Tim and Bo, running this stupid spread offense.. The spread offense is lowering Nebraska's ability to physically dominate teams. That same Northwestern team that nearly beat us, would not of played Alabama within 40 points..

Not many teams in the BIG could play Alabama to within 40 points, so try again...

  6. If you want a laugh, go over to shaggybevo and check out their epic meltdown. Eerily similar to our board last week. Even a few of the same thread titles: Name your new coach...same thread about strength and conditioning, etc...lol

  7. Yeah! A great season in the state of South Dakota! You all know about the tremendous football played in South Dakota right? It clearly parallels the football played in California, Texas, and Florida.

    And.....?

    And?

I think it's fairly obviously. We're actively recruiting another Micah Kriekmeyer...a 5 year bench warming wasted scholarship.

Are you willing to eat crow Skers? Gerry's a stud. No way he rides the bench.

  8. Was interviewed on big red wrap up last night. Sounds like a great kid, hard worker. Is only his 2nd year of playing safety;actually thought he wanted to play WR in college until he decided he likes to "hit more than be hit." Said he wants to work on his quickness;running track should help with that. Also talked about the lack of respect kids get recruiting wise in South Dakota. Says kids up there refuse to be out-worked. Kid has a great frame to bulk up and be a fast, hard-hitting safety...

  9. Ameer has been stellar and I wish Heard would get more touches as it looks like he could take it to the house on every run. Imani has looked good too. I just think it would've been smarter to redshirt him so we can have him for one more year with Armstrong or Stanton.

Imani reminds me of Brandon Jackson a little bit. I know many of you will say he was needed when Rex got hurt, but I think Ameer and Braylon could've carried the load. Now with Rex back this weekend, how many touches will Cross get? Enough meaningful ones to justify burning a shirt? Just curious how you guys feel. Oh, and I don't envy Ron Brown one bit on his decisions of who to play when...

  10. They looked great..........except the team they were playing didnt have a pulse. We have seen this year in and year out, look great agianst inferior competition and the second we play a decent team we either eek out a win or lose due to bonehead mistakes. Not too excited about this team so far.

Aplin was player of the year last year in the Sun-Belt and Oku is no slouch at RB either. Yes they were an inferior team, but we still kept a good offense from scoring and I was impressed. Wonder what Malzan's thoughts were on our D?
