  1. Give me Kincade/Jennings and I will be happy, I do agree with EZ we should take an ATH/QB like an Alonzo Moore. Can never have too many talented guys on your roster.

Agreed. Case in point: Ryan Tannehill.

  2. he visited texas's spring game this year. they will eventually offer him im glad that we offered him early. Being the first offer for a kid goes a long way with them

I bet if Texas offers he is gone.

Texas has the #1 dual threat qb in the nation committed for 2013 in Vince Young- clone Tyrone Swoopes. This may or may not play into Heard's thinking although currently, Texas's qb depth chart is a joke. I think Bronson Marsh could start over both David Ash and Case McCoy.

  3. rivals said he plans to visit Nebraska, Alabama, and North Carolina this summer

Based from a recent rivals video, it seemed like he was most interested in the Nebraska and Alabama offers.

We need to capitalize on this!

I would like to think that Beck could show him how much more he would excel in our offense than in Bama's or UNC's. Would think it would be a pretty easy sell.

  4. I'm so pumped for Charles. It just says so much about him and his character to stay positive and keep pushing through all of thus. You know he's going to bust his butt every play in practice and the games. No one will outwork him. Don't be surprised if he doesn't redshirt and is our starting nickelback by the start of conference play. Great to have this young man here! Hope #18 is still available...

  5. He's been called the best QB in Georgia for this year's class. One thing to be wary of though, is Georgia hasn't offered him yet.

Georgia already has their QB in 4* Brice Ramsey. He's a pro-style qb, so they may not offer Jennings. BTW, thanks for the profile creation Corncraze, as I know some posters were getting anxious lol.

  6. Sounds like Afalava wont make it. I also see why they moved Whaley but i think if Anderson can come in and learn the defense he will take over a few games into the season, IF he can pick it up as fast as David which is hard to do. Whaley is an insurance policy to have someone at the position that atleast knows whats going on, and i see him moving back with Santos having a good fall camp and Anderson coming in to see playng time. Santos is going to be a good one mark my words. I believe they will or atleast should redshirt Rose, i think he is cabable of coming and playing right away but the MLB is very improtant in Bo defense and he will need a year learning from Compton. I see our LB next year (2013) being Santos (RsSoph) Rose (RsFresh) Anderson (S), which would be alot of talent and potential at the position. Eventually leading to Banderas Rose Santos getting alot of playing time together in the coming years. It never works the way you think, but its fun to think about the potential of our LB corp in the coming years. Lots of speed and instinct, which we will need for Miller and the OSU offense.

Man that sucks about Afalava. Hope we can get him in a JUCO and get him here in a year or two. Do we really have the luxury of redshirting Rose? I don't think we do, especially if he can be a beast on special teams right away.

I think both Compton and Whaley will have big years. I think Compton has 2nd/3rd round potential if he plays like he knows he can. Dude was a beast in high school at Bonne Terre and as Matt Kemp says, he just needs to let beast mode off its leash!

  7. For those who haven't seen it, here it is.

Gotta applaud Palmer though for setting the record straight. "Nebraska didn't lose good guys on defense, they lost great guys on defense"

Though Palmer shot himself in the foot when he said we can get back to a 12 win season starting with Taylor Martinez.

Am I one of the few who thinks Taylor is poised for a big year? This will be his 2nd year in Beck's system. He has an excellent young wide receiving core to throw to, not to mention a possible Heisman candidate lining up behind him. All that he needs is someone to step up at center. He's taken the initiative to fix his mechanics and teammates have said he has stepped up as a leader in the huddle. I agree with Palmer. Taylor is poised to take that next step...

Walk-on? This kid was MVP of the regional Elite 11 competition in Dallas. It's called Elite for a reason. Kid beat out some pretty decent QBs camping with him. This kid is legit and I would love to see him in red. I saw an interview on ESPNU with him and he does not lack confidence. He plays much bigger than his size and can definitely spin it. Correct me if im wrong, isn't Skyline one of the better schools in Texas?

It might be the best HS, in terms of producing D1 talent every year.

    Thanks speed.

  10. Was watching College Football Live after work and they had their roundtable discussion led by none other than Kirk Herbstreit. My thoughts? Wow I feel sorry for Taylor Martinez. Poor guy was getting ripped on left and right (mostly his mechanics of course) by Mark Schlabach . No clue why that guy was on. He seems like a large POS. Anyway, Taylor was just the tip of the iceberg. Next was the D how will we replace talent lost at each level (Crick, David and Denard) it was a fair question asked by Jesse Palmer who, imo, was the only one to give us any sort of love.

Oh and of course they showed the highlight of BO chewing Taylor's a$$. ESPN loves showing that for some reason. That's all I've got for now. Just wondering if anyone else caught it? There will be a replay at 530 today on ESPNU and at 3am on ESPN2.

Palmer did say that Baker Steinkehuler(sp?) is the coolest name in all of college football. So yeah, I guess we got that going for us, jeesh!

  11. 4-0. 3 reasons: Taylor Martinez will a much better quarterback than in his previous 2 years. I think Will Compton will absolutely blow up and have a huge year anchoring the D. And finally, we run the diamond formation the entire game vs. Ohio St. Even Urban won't figure out how to contain Ameer, Taylor, Aaron, and Rex (and maybe some Jamal Turner wrinkled in).

  12. I really can't see teams letting Fonz slip out of the 2nd. Think how many red flag guys still get taken early. And this is a smaller and more isolated incident than many other cases.

Fonzie is a legit round 1 talent.

Agreed. As I posted before. Warren Sapp only slipped a few spots for his indiscretions.

Remember former KU corner Aqib Talib? He had some character issues going into the draft and he was still taken at no. 20 overall by Gruden and the Bucs in 2008. I would think Fonzie is as talented or moreso than him. Granted Gruden and gm Bruce Allen were fired at the end of that year and Talib has had numerous problems since then. I don't think Fonzie will fall as far as many have predicted. Someone will take a chance on him a la Talib.

  13. If Toby Gerhart can finish 2nd in the Heisman voting, so can Rex Burkhead...

Well, if Rex can lead CFB in rushing, have atleast 1871 yards and a 5.45 ypc avg., score atleast 28 touchdowns and avg 144 yrds per game. All while putting together some highlight runs, and carring NE to 3 huge wins over ranked conference opps, including back to back performances against the #7 & #11 teams where he goes for 223 yrds, a 5.87 ypc avg and 3 tds & 178 yrds a 6.14 ypc avg and 3 tds...

Then yes, he can also be a Heisman finalist.

Keep in mind that Gerhart put up just 21 less yards, nearly 3/4 of a yrd more per carry and 6 more touchdowns just during his conference games compared to Rex's entire season last year. And all of that was good enough to finish second because Richardson, who rushed for 1542, 6.2 ypc & 15tds, was the best offensive player, on the best team, in the best conference in CFB.

As others have said, either you have to be an absolute stud who makes highlight plays and carries your team, or you have to be the best player on the best team. Right now Rex is neither. He is a really good player on a good team, just not elite

Great info Fro. I think Toby had a pretty good Oline to block for him that year as well. Rex does have the potential to make highlight plays. He has the potential to be great this year. I think if Rex goes off at the Horseshoe against a very good Buckeye defense, he will be a contender. It's just against the UCLA's and Northwestern's he has to be great as well. I think if he stays healthy and plays like we all know he can, he will be in New York in December...

  14. Sounds like Larry Eustachy has asked for consideration and stated he'd be interested if we would want to talk to him. Not sure I think that much of him but the information is an FYI. Some believe we also contacted Smart today but I haven't been able to get a conformation one way or the other. But I would hope like hell we at least ask to talk to him.

I will pass on Larry Eustachy, he was a good coach at ISU and lead them to an elite 8. But the whole partying thing after his team just lost a game hours before hand is still what people remember him for.

AND, wasn't it coeds he was partying with......?? Somehow I doubt Dr. Tom would approve...............(not exactly his idea of "mentoring")

FYI Eustachy has been sober for almost 8 years now and has really turned his life around. That being said, I would like to think we should be able to get more for $2 mil than Eustachy or Sutton. Isn't Doc a family friend of the Sutton's or something? That would have to be a little awkward I would think...

  15. Haven't paid much attention to this thread and I'm not gonna take the time to read through it to see if someone has already mentioned this guy. I know he would be a long shot, but what about Danny Manning? He most likely wouldn't stay here long but I'm sure he could at least get this program heading in the right direction, and I'm more than certain this guy would be able to recruit.

I like Manning as well. He has done wonders with Thomas Robinson this year. Would be a very recognizable name with recruits and their parents. I don't know if he would please everyone though cause he's not really that fiery, rah rah guy that some people would want. Just always seems real calm and collected. He reminds me a bit of Leonard Hamilton from FSU in his mannerisms. I think he would definitely be a players coach, but to be successful I think he would need to hire an older, more experinced asisstant coach to have on the bench.
