  1. Hey, the last election was won by a person who thinks there are at least 57 states, ridiculed Special Olympians, sat in church for 20 years working the NYT crossword, and believes "Austrian" is a language. I wouldn't vote for Herman Cain, but I suspect that you did vote for the man I described above. The election was between him and a McCain that sold his soul after losing in 2000 and added Palin to the ticket. You're damn right I did, I have my reasons. Give me another Turd Sandwich to vote for against him and the Giant Douche will get my vote again. But none of that bothers me and actually the church thing makes me like him more. The "Austrian" one made me think of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_LPRA6MUH_I which made me laugh. The prosecution rests, Your Honor.

  3. I second that...!! I'd like to thank the little people who made it possible - and foremost, I want to thank Tattoo, Billy, and Chuy.
  4. Amen to that, Yos!! Thanks JR20. You remain da' man!
  5. You are very gracious. I did it because I couldn't believe I was getting paid to do such exciting. interesting "stuff"...
  6. What we do know is that people in the Obama administration have been sending weapons to Mexico - weapons that end up killing Americans...and law-abiding Mexicans. Nancy Grace's boob flipped out!!!! Yos why didn't you tell me I thought we were friends!!! So many boobs flip out these days (e.g., Louis Farrakhan), that I didn't see it as significant. Sorry friend.
  7. I assume you are talking to me. Retired Air Force. Drafted into Army and joined USAF instead - life expectancy for Army 2Lts when I was drafted was about one month in certain theaters. Worked for a defense contractor for many years after that - retired in Bellevue, NE. Bellevue is a good place to retire to if you're a vet - plus I have season tickets to Memorial stadium. I put my name on list and got them in 1994. If that isn't perfect timing, I do not know what is.
  8. Yes, but another state voted it in. It's a shame that many think voter fraud is actually a legit concern. It rarely if ever happens. People get it confused w/ "registration fraud" which does happen, but had no effect on elections. However the media does a poor job of communicating this to the people. Good point. It's one thing to get paid $5.00 to register Donald Duck - it's a whole 'nuther thing to let him cast a vote.
  9. 1) I pay taxes. 2) I vote for candidates that that will support the troops from a governmental role. 3) I post on various message boards in their support. 4) My church/fellowship has various charities that help local vets, and I help out occasionally. Good for you. I mean that.
  10. The State of Vermont has had to get a waiver to implement our state-wide Single Payer plan. However there is a huuuuge difference between the authority to grant a waiver and control. Uncle.
  11. You would be correct... if government had taken over health care. Without posting the entire Obamacare law, I pose this as proof that the Government is in charge of health care now: You must follow the provisions of the law, or get a waiver from the U.S. Government. The waiver cannot come from the NFL, Disneyland, NAMBLA, the KKK, Rev. Wright, JoPa, Dick Cheney, Bill Clinton, nor Peewee Herman. The only way you can get out of it is to get permission from the controlling authority - the U.S. Government.
  12. I'm not impressed so far. He uses block paragraphs that omit key facts because they are inconvenient to his preferred narrative. I've seen his type before and I'm sure I'll see his type again. For that matter, I get plenty of similarly structured arguments from defendants. Ooooh. Playing the "Officer of the Court" card. Next you'll tell me that you have people like me working for you... Nobody works for me. I do get to hear half of each story every day. That seemed awfully similar to your glossing over the facts of this story. I'm sorry if that comparison threatens you. Don't flatter yourself. At my age, the only thing that threatens me is the fact that I end up in rooms without remembering wqhy I went into them in the first place.
  13. Going into war with a clear mission. Not staying around in a shootibg gallery after that mission has been accomplished. Having the right equipment to do the job. Having the proper protective gear. Support for family back home (home evictions is not support). Proper veterans' care. Job opportunities when they get back home, other than Blackwater. That their civil rights be protected, along with those of other citizens. They be given due respect for their patriotic and sometines heroic service. I'm talking about you, not the US Government...that is, unless you are actually providing equipment to the troops.
  14. Now we're getting somewhere. Do you care to offer any predictions about the results of this witch hunt? I'll give you mine: no proof or evidence ever shows that AG Holder or President Obama knew about the gun-walking aspect of this terribly misguided operation. Despite the GOPs desperate attempts to pin this on Obama and Holder the investigation will reveal that the buck definitively stopped short of them. It is rather telling that the GOP is so concerned about the loss of this single US life considering their wars and policies over the last decade. I suppose they are just proving Joseph Stalin's famous quote of "One death is a tragedy; a million is a statistic." I apologize if my remarks hurt your feelings. To be honest, if someone's math skills should be mocked they are my own. There is a reason why there is a calculator on my desk and why I was a BA undergrad rather than a BS undergrad. I thought that I was being clear and apparently that was not the case. Actually, I agree. Nothing will probably come of this.
  15. You make a few assumptions - that he's drunk, a little slow, he's not listening to what he's being told, and that he's resisting arrest. A "playbook"? Support the troops... except when they turn out to have liberal ideals. When you say "support the troops..." what do you mean exactly? I support them by giving money to the USO and the Wounded Warrior fund. If a GI betrays his country by revealing classified information that he had sworn to protect, I do not support him or his kind. I served a lot of time in the U.S. military and ran across liberals, conservatives, and everything in between and beyond. Granted, the military attracts people who are more conservative and who respect customs and courtesies (particularly when it comes to the flag), but unless someone is violating the UCMJ, I never consider it my business what someone's political beliefs are/were. So, here's the deal, why not give $100.00 to the USO this Friday, Veterans' Day? I already have. You see, veterans really don't want you to thank them for their service. All they want is to be given what they were promised. The USO, on the other hand, does a lot for GIs that is greatly prized. Among other things, they offers a military traveler a cup of coffee and a place to go and relax in airports. Believe me, nothing is more comforting than to see a smiling face and get a good cup of "joe" in a strange, faraway place. I was kidding about the $100.00. Give them anything - $5.00 would be greatly appreciated. And that is "supporting the troops."
  16. We appreciate the warning. No, they will not trash HuskerBoard. I have read the terms of use, agree with them, and am abiding by them. I have not called anyone names (like jack-booted thugs, or troll patrol), and I don't intend to "trash" this site. If I cross the line (mistakenly or otherwise), I expect to be warned and I will mend my ways accordingly. It's that simple.
  17. No, I do not. I see very litte difference in his economic/financial/taxation policy and foreign policy from that of Bush(43). At times he talks like a progressive, but he does not execute as one. I consider the Government takeover of health care in the U.S. to be a progressive policy. But that's just me.
  18. Based on what has appeared in the open media, Joe Paterno is guilty of a crime...a serious crime. This offers a good opportunity for the university (and the rest of us) to show that there is some things more important than his "legacy" or a football game - or a football season for that matter. Most of the reporting on this dwells on how this will affect the Penn State football team - not a lot about the victims. So, I agree. He needs to stay at home Saturday and for the rest of the season. I agree he should go, but what crime is he guilty of? Not reporting a felony to the police.
  19. Your math is not too good. I'll help you out. Over 2,000 guns were bought by "straw buyers" under the Fast and Furious program and ATF agents lost track of about 1,400 of them. As of last month, 276 of those same 2,000 guns have been recovered in Mexico and 389 recovered in the United States. One U.S. border agent has been killed by one of those guns...countless Mexican citizens (drug dealers as well as innocent bystanders) are also dead. But, who cares. The AG? Not so much. He blames Congress. I blame GW, JoPa, Bill Callahan, Bibi Netanyahu, Noam Chomsky, Eli Wallach, The Man with No Name, Arnold Stang, and Oprah. And I accept some of the blame too, Perhaps you would like to check your own math. Fast and Furious (Obama presidency) = about 1,300 guns lost in Mexico. Wide Receiver (Bush presidency) = about 450 guns lost in Mexico. Now, using "math" we see that the ratio is actually worse than the one I cited initially. It's closer to 3 to 1 than 4 to 1. Somehow, Fox and FreeRepublic never get around to mentioning that. It is always "Holder this . . ." and "Obama that . . ." That sort of argument immediately shows that they lack credibility and integrity. You should try sticking your head outside of the Republican echo chamber sometime. You might be surprised at what reality holds. Heck, you might even find some math. You said nothing about ratios, Counselor. You said 4, and you said 1. The fact is that one border agent was killed with a gun that Eric Holder's underlings were responsible for getting into the hands of criminals. Period. That's no echo. That's the original sound. Just because you don't like it doesn't make it non-credible. From the sounds of it, you think it's okay that "about" 1,300 guns were "lost" in Mexico. You make it sound like someone laid them down in the student union and when they went to get a latte and when turned around, they were gone. Wise up. Your President and his AG are dishonest...but then that's often true of attorneys - general or otherwise. Apparently the fact that I had reduced the ratio (surely you learned how to reduce fractions, right?) to make it more manageable went right over your head. I apologize for not explaining this in detail. I figured that you would understand and you clearly did not. . . . and still no acknowledgement that this little issue has been ongoing during the last two presidencies. I'm shocked. Shocked, I tell you. You want me to "acknowledge" that it went on during the last two presidencies? Okay, I acknowledge that it went on during the last two presidencies. I didn't realize that my acknowledgment carried so much weight. Now, according to you, it's a "little issue" - I disagree. It was a big issue when people in the Bush administration were involved. it still is - in fact, the death of a U.S. citizen can be traced to the program during Eric Holder's watch making it a bigger issue in my opinion. Don't belittle my math skills. I was a liberal arts student. Don't assume anything...you know how that works out...don't you.

  21. I've spoken to an organizer, and there is an effort to design and produce a line of low cost outfits that are water/wind resistant on the outside, and insulated on the inside. You mean something akin to what we call "parkas" here in Nebraska?
  22. You do not consider Barack Obama a "Progressive"?
