I turned to the Baylor game, LOL.
-
oh and don't think we will just waltz through PSU and IOWA
Ugh....forgot we still have PSU...not really interested anymore...
I still care.
Go out and be respectable. Win out and finish the season 10-3.
You're including the bowl game. There's no guarantee he'll beat either team left on the regular season schedule.

Once again we have to play from behind, expect nothing less at this point, they'll either fold or dig deep and go get what they want. A trip to Indy is all that's on the line guys................up to you if you want to get it together and make it there. Simple as that.........
Absolutely. How bad do these guys want it? This game isn't over.
If they come out and march down the filed to score a TD, this game will be over. We'll see if Pelini can light a fire under these kids arses or not fairly quickly. I have my doubts after how we started and played the first half as these kids have to know what this game means.
He's been here 6 years - has he ever been able to 'light a fire?
C'mon, you knew that was a silly statement to make even before you posted it.
Pelini has come back and rallied the troops from bigger and more dire circumstances. That aspect of his coaching isn't in question.
Coaches don't have to wait for the circumstances to get 'dire' to light a fire, my friend.

Damned sloppy.

Nah, our defense will be rested enough to shut them down I feel. But if we give up another turnover that leads to points, then it's over

Me: Beck eat a snickers?
Beck: Why?
Me: Because there is nothing else you can do here other than eat that damn snickers and leave lincoln. And before you go, give me that damn snickers!

So we're up for a 43 point second half to get to that 50 point per game average.....
Sorry..that was a bit harsh. Combination of young guys, hurt guys and therefore more young guys. Hate me, but I accept this halftime situation. Tommy looked like the great player we hoped for on the touchdown drive. The D is gassed right now but playing lights out compared to earlier in the year.
It may be a long shot, but we can certainly win this game in the second half.
Oh, we certainly can, and our defense doesn't concern me at all. But I just don't see the turnover problem ceasing. It's just mind-numbingly awful.
Turnovers have been a problem since Mark Pelini has been the head coach. That comes from something some folks may not want to hear....
An undisciplined coaching staff creates undisciplined players. Ball security, stupid penalties, and playing smart is something that can be coached.
-
Guys, the coaches didn't do any of this, so just stop. If you aren't blind, we are winning this game if these players would stop f'ing themselves.
Really? What game are you watching?
I'm assuming we are watching the same game, so I'll also assume that you comprehension is not quite up to par. Tommy Armstrong not a coach. Terrell Newby, not a coach. Westerkamp, also, not a coach. There you go, four turnovers, none of them coaches. Hope that helps bud.
But all of these mistakes are fixable by the COACHING. In practice. I'd have to agree with GBR's assessment.
-
I hate to say it, but I see at least 3 more turnovers from us this game with the way we are playing.
And the killer of it all - Sparty's D is getting actually run on between the tackles.
-
Undisplined football. A staple in Pelini's team.
IT's called a freshman QB making freshman mistakes, not a lack of discipline
One by Westerkamp.
Three by Armstrong.
That's a lack of discipline. Ball Security comes from discipline.
2 by armstrong
1 by Newby
No, sir - the late pitch was by Armstrong. The pitch was high and lazy. Thumb to the sky when you pitch it. Don't pitch it in that situation. That's on the QB.

You have got to be kidding me. 17 points off turnovers in the first half.
Do we not coach ball security anymore?
This.

I got nothin. Nothin.

What is this play calling?!?
-
RG44, what the?!
Lovin it. The D needs to be nasty. People need to fear them. At least it shows people that the D does have a pulse and spirit.

It's obvious the blitz is working. I'm not saying blitz on every down, but get them into 3rd and long then pin em back.

Beck is going to have to call the game of his life. Power football, option, reverses, misdirection, short/medium passing game, but no screens!!! are going to all have to be used to keep MSU on their heels. Just running it up the gut vanilla football will result in 3 and out after 3 and out and zero points...
Why can't you run a screen pass? Ameer is perfect for running that. Doesn't even have to be a middle screen - line Ameer up on the outside and run a tunnel screen to him.
-
Look, you visit the MSU boards and news topics and whatnot and every single one of them are saying they're going to steamroll right over us. That makes me think that at least some of that sentiment is going to be manifest in the players.
I really do hope they count us out. It's great motivation for the Huskers.
That's a good point. To put it best,
"Everybody's got a plan until they get punched in the face."

If Beck gets pass happy (like he's shown to do at times), this will be a very short game for the offense.
Line up in the I, pound the rock. Setup for play action passing, hit big passes over the top on occasion.
Ball control offenses excel against defenses like this one if they are physical enough.
That's the question though... can this patchwork OL, missing three starters from the beginning of the year, maintain that physicality for the entire game? Can it generate it in the first place?
If they stay ahead of the chains, they've got a shot. That depends on the game plan that Beck draws up for this game. Sparty's D is very aggressive. You can't put Armstrong back there on first and second down to pass all the time. Win first down if you can.
Mix in a screen pass or two. And don't think that the option is working this weekend.
-
If they had blitzed on every down last Saturday, it would have gotten there. That's how bad Fichigan is.
They're the Donnie Brasco of the B1G right now.

Return game? We don't need no stinking return game!
That is all.

Why is it that when Michigan St. shuts down the Wolverines, they are the greatest defense to walk the earth, and when Nebraska does it, its because Michigan's offense is absolutely terrible? Was watching the BTN final drive and they gave the D little to no credit for the beat down they just handed an offense averaging over 37ppg on their own home field. Can't wait to see what they say next week when we hopefully handle MSU at home.
Because Sparty's defense has been consistently good all season long. Still have to see a consistent game from the young Husker D.

C'mon yall. The kid hasn't played a game at this level yet. Remember...
