Being a New England resident and fan of both the Pats and Huskers, I'll give ya my take as I watched intently during the preseason.
Fonzie got his first game action this past game against TB. He has been plagued with nagging injuries and there is some thought that he might not even make the team as Belichick has no patience for guys who can't take the field.
With that being said, he had an up and down game. He was pretty solid in run defense and stepped up and got involved. He wasn't being manhandled by anyone (but then again, this was mostly 2nd half play against 2nd and 3rd stringers). He played a decent amount of man in which he didn't have any balls thrown on his way (which is a good thing). There were some plays that he was victimized in the zone coverage scheme Belichick loves to employ. It wasn't a gamebreaker for him, nor was it a bad game. Unfortunately, his time is ticking and I fear the Pats will cut him and hope he slips to the practice squad; unless of course, BB sees what we've seen from him from a positive attributes side of things.
In the end, with confidence, Fonzie can easily compete for a nickel back in his first year. I just don't know if he'll survive long enough for the Pats to reep the rewards.
p.s. His incessant Tweeting is NOT helping him, even though most of his messages are positive and good natured. BB wants FOCUSED players on and off the field.
Just my 2 cents.
If he makes the team - based on the info I'm reading from the pundits - it will be a mild surprise.
