  1. -U$C at 1 = :waste

    -Oregon at 4 =

-Florida State at 7 =

-Michigan needs to be higher...probably around 7 or so.

-West Virginia at 11 = :bad

    -Michigan State at 12 = :o

And just when I thought Notre Dame wasn't going to be included, they sneak in at 24.

Notre Dame is always in the pre-season top 25. A 4-5 Notre Dame team can make it in to the top 25. For some reason, the polls love them….I just don't get the obsession.

  2. Hondo Carpenter of Spartan Nation was on the Schick and Nick Show this morning on 1620. One topic he touched on was that Kirk Cousins grew up a Husker fan. He tried approaching the Callahan staff but was rebuffed in part because he wasn't being recruited by any one. Even after he got his offer from Michigan State Carpenter claims that Cousins would have dropped them in a second if an offer came from Nebraska. While it wouldn't have saved Callahan he could have been in the cupboard when the Pelini regime started. Oh cruel fate!! :dunno

I gave up trying to understand anything Callahan did a long time ago!

    Let me summarize Nebraska basketball...

    LOL... nobody cares about Nebrasketball...

    Great fanbase!

Actually, there are a lot of true Nebraska fans that do care about basketball. I really hope Miles gets the program turned around and then we will see some "fair weather" fans jump on board.

  4. Drake Baronick (sp) played here. Granted not a recruiting signee as he transfered from UNK but still a Nebraska boy!

Beranek did play for Nebraska, but I would still like to see more Nebraska talent stay in state. Beranek worked his butt off when he played, and I guarantee we would see the same commitment from other Nebraska boys too.

  5. Heard him on the radio about an hour ago. Said he's pushing Akoy to go to Nebraska, but doesn't want to put a percentage on it because he has no idea what Akoy will do. Sounded like a decent possibility though.

He was asked if he'd come here if Doc was still around, he said it would be 50/50. Was recruited by Doc, but didn't think he was a good recruiter. Thinks Miles is a great recruiter.

I liked Doc, but it sounds like Miles is creating more of a buzz in one month than Doc did during his whole tenure. I was a little cautious of Miles at the beginning, but it seems like he is getting things going. I just hope he can keep up his momentum!

  6. I think it makes sense to redshirt him... it gives this team more depth in 2 years when they will need it..

Will hurt this year, but better for the future.

I agree that redshirting him makes sense. I fully expect to see a rough year of Husker basketball, but that has happened lately any way. I agree that it would be better for the future if they redshirt him, but who knows what they will do. The definitely need to add a few guys for next year though, and I'm excited to see what Miles might get!

  7. I honestly think they should make these kids take money management courses before allowing them in the NBA.

I think this would be a great idea! You hear all the time about professional athletes that are broke because they couldn't manage their money. If I won the lottery right now, I wouldn't have to work another day in my life and I could make that money last for a very long time. It's all about moderation, but it's hard to expect young kids that are suddenly millionaires to be "smart" about their money when they haven't learned how to manage things properly. Maybe the NBA should start a program where they help teach these kids about money management!

  8. That article says the team hasn't had an in-state signee since 03? How is that even possible?

Well I mean Nebraska isnt exactly a powerhouse for basketball..

It's not, but we should still get at least some of the talent that comes from the state. Miles took a CSU team with 4 Nebraska kids to the tourney this year and Creighton made it with 5. The largest university in the state not being able to get any of the talent that does come around is pretty pathetic.

I just don't think Doc put a lot of emphasis on recruiting in-state, which is a shame. Nebraska might be putting out talent like Kentucky had this year, but the state does have some good players that get overlooked. I hope Miles keeps looking in-state while he's recruiting.

  9. I'm thinking the team Coach Miles had at CSU would have been a bit more competitive in the big 10 than the one Sadler fielded. Probably on par with Minn, Mich, Iowa and NW. While better, it still wouldn't have gotten to the NCAA's more than likely, maybe the NIT. I see hope in the fact that Miles should be able to pull in better players than he did at CSU. I'm more hopeful that the assistant coach with Chicago ties will be able to convince kids to play for a school in the Big 10 than a school out in the mountains in a mid major conference. I haven't been this excited for Husker basketball since the middle of Danny Nee's term here.

I would agree with this statement! I hate to get my hopes up too much, but I am excited to see what he can do.

  10. Is this kid the real deal? I am cautiously optimistic about Tim Miles. Maybe I just want to believe that Husker mens basketball can actually compete. I would love to know more about what Biggs' commitment might mean for the program.
