That would be terrible. Frost may go into "protect AM" mode and limit our offense. If AM and TG are really close, then Frost can let AM play hard with the comfort of a strong backup.

I agree. I'm just waiting for that one person to tell me to shut up and that I heard wrong. I like Gebbia and would be very disappointed to find out that my friend was right.

I'd be surprised if he did leave knowing he is the #2 guy and could possibly see some snaps. He would be foolish though to stay after this year so I guess maybe I wouldn't be shocked.

I would agree with you. I just heard some info from a friend of mine and I was hoping to get confirmation that he was wrong. I would be shocked if he left too.

  3. A friend of mine just texted and said that there's smoke blowing about that Gebbia missed practice today and is gone. He said that it's nothing official or confirmed but a RUMOR that is picking up steam. I was just seeing if anyone else has heard anything. I really hope he doesn't know what he's talking about. If a MOD thinks my comment needs to be moved or deleted, please feel free.

I am not treating this as an argument, just a discussion.  It's all good.  I am fine with my own tempered expectations this year.

It's all good here too. It's always hard to tell on a discussion board. Some people just get too worked up when others don't agree with what they are saying. You very well could be right and we will improve to 28 ppg, but I really hope that I'm right and we improve to 21 ppg.

I don't think Frost and Chinander really care where the D ranks in scoring D.  They are going to focus more on causing turnovers and efficiency measures like points per drive/play and yards per play.  I would be surprised if Chin's D's ever rank in the top 25% in the country in scoring D.

It's really hard to predict at this point. I really think that our defense will be very much improved next year compared to last year because we should be more aggressive and attacking rather than sitting back and waiting for things to come to us. I feel that it should result in a much better outcome in most games. I'm a sunshine pumper sometimes, but I still feel that we will be vastly improved.

That is a pretty unrealistic goal.  Last year, 21 PPG would have ranked 28th in the country, while NU ranked 115th.  That is with a much slower-paced offense trying to help out the D.  I think NU would do pretty well to shave 7-10 points off last year's average.

I don't think it's unrealistic at all. New system, some new faces. It's entirely possible. There will definitely be some games that we will give up more than others, but it's possible.

We had a family in our district, the daughter was in my building.  They've been working in the immigration process for almost 5 years, and at the drop of a hat had to move back to Columbia.  They're visa was about to expire because of paperwork errors not in their control.  And they were told by their attorney to go back because if they were here on an expired visa that would be the end of it.  This was a family with good kids, working parents, and just fun to have in class.

I knew many students over the years that had similar stories. If the government wants to truly do something, this would be the first place I would start. I don't have an answer to it, but I'm sure there are ways to make things run a little smoother.

First off....like I have said.  From the President on down, stop demonizing these people.  The vast majority just want a better life, came here for a job (actually want to work), are less prone to be a violent criminal than native born Americans.....etc.  Demonizing an entire group of people does nothing other than creates a false sense of fear that is not good for anyone other than a politician wanting votes.  The idiot and chief is even starting to demonize LEGAL immigrants.

Second, there are anywhere from 10 - 12 million illegal immigrants in the US.  To deport all of them, would be both a human rights disaster and destroy our economy at the same time.  On top of that, the cost of doing so would be enormous.  WAY more than the actual cost of having them here.

So, let's start with the reality, we are not deporting all illegal immigrants.  So, what's the solution?

    a)  Figure out a way that people that are here can become legal.  Deport violent criminals and give the people who are here, working hard, raising their families and contributing to our communities and economy, a path to citizenship.

    b)  Fix our immigration system so it's easier to immigrate legally.  The system is a disaster.  I've been familiar with or helped with two people going through it and it's almost impossible.  And...this was even long before Drumpf took office.

    c)  Once that is all discussed and figured out, I'm fine with increasing border security.  We do need to know who is coming into our country.  That said, I am not under the delusion that we will stop all illegal immigration.

Fact, a very large number of people who are illegal, came here legally with a visa and over stayed the visa.  Many are even European...I guess the idiot doesn't care about them because they aren't from s#!t hole countries.

Fix the system without destroying people's lives.  The vast majority of these people are here contributing to the economy, raising their families and paying taxes....many times to a system they won't get much (if any) benefit from in the long run.

PS.....and building a friggen physical wall is the dumbest idea thrown out in the last 30 years on the subject.

The part in bold is the part that is hardly ever discussed, but it needs to be. I taught in Grand Island for 12 years and I dealt with a lot of students that had very personal knowledge of the process. I don't think everyone understands just how hard it is to become a legal citizen of the U.S. I'm not trying to defend anyone that is here illegally, but most of them would be here legally if it was an easier process that didn't take forever to go through. You are correct, it has absolutely nothing to do with Trump because it's been this way for over 20 years or more. The government should be taking a look at how they can change that system so that we can get more immigrants to be legal citizens. Most of them want to be here legally.

5 jokers voted for Trump. They probably just want to see how they pull off chiseling his hair.

No, I moved everything down and then it messed things up. I went back and fixed it. Had to put Reagan at the end.

You connected Reagan and Carter - two total opposites.  Split that and I'll vote.

I just connected them by terms. Vote on the one you want and just say which one you voted for. It would have taken me forever to put each president in to the poll.

  11. If you could add one more president to Mount Rushmore, who would you like to see added? I hope that I did the poll correctly. I combined a few of them that I'm not sure people would vote for. I included every president, even though I don't think a lot of them deserve it.

Dewitt said they don't plan to recruit long snappers but work with other guys they have to get a couple guys ready every season.

I am really glad to hear that. I'm not putting down any of the athletes that we have recruited over the years, but I've never understood why we would recruit a long snapper.

  13. I'm a teacher so I have way too much time on my hands in the summer. My wife both loves and hates it. I've built a bathroom in our basement, ripped up tile and laid down engineered hardwood in the kitchen. I've put up backsplash in  the kitchen and turned a closet in the kitchen in to a pantry/closet. I've built a pergola over our deck and installed way too many ceiling fans and toilets. About the only thing that I don't like to mess with is electrical. We just moved in to a new house over Christmas break and I have way too many projects adding up already. We have a son with special needs, so I've also had to build gates up in various places in our house to keep him out of areas that he could hurt himself. My wife just informed me the other day that I need to build her a garden shed this summer.
