  1. I do believe that Ohio St winning would help the Big Ten, but it will take several of the other teams beating (and/or being competitve in losses) with the non-conference teams that are supposedly better on a regular bases for that opinion to change. I also think it would have to happen for more than one season, people are stubborn in their views and public perception takes time to change.

I have to totally disagree. Pap was one of the worst DCs in college football this season.

Paps signaled plays in for Bo, he was teaching Bo's system. It was not what he wanted to run and we really can not judge him on anything other than his game day responsibilities and how he handled keeping those guys organized. So there isn't anyone who can judge him on "his" system.

How is it that you know ANY of this with any degree of certainty?

Because when people were wanting him fired he said "I don't know why people are so mad at me, I'm just running Bo's system" so I guess you can take the words from his mouth and interpret them how you wish. Or just ask him yourself.

  4. Anyone know if Riley knows Clancy Pendergast? Ever since I read the Fox sports article on him I can't help but think he would be a great hire for DC. Thoughts?

I read up on him also after seeing your post. I think he looks like an excellent choice for DC and I would take this guy over Muschamp any day.

  5. If they aren't going to use a fullback it seems like Andy Janovich would be athletic enough to go the linebacker route. So far it seems like he has been wasted, it seems like they used him more his freshman year than this year and he is to tough to be sitting on the sidelines. It will be interesting to see if the new staff moves anyone around.

  6. I don't understand. If he is such a great recruiter why isn't Oregon St better? I'm just hoping he can really develope players and NU hires top notch recruiters to complement him. It just doesn't seem like he brings the energy needed for this position, but I guess we will see.

I can understand if he looks else where but I hope he decides to stay. He is the type of talent we need here and could honestly start from day 1.

he can start at plenty universities from day one and we will look elsewhere. Whoever made that decision isn't very smart at all

We all understand why you are upset, and you DEFINITELY have every right to be. We all agree your son is very talented and can play pretty much anywhere. We also think whoever the new coach is, will have that same interest in your son. All we as fans can HOPE is that you and your son at least give the new coaching staff a chance to continue recruiting your son to NEBRASKA. Thanks Monique.

ur welcome but iam not upset. The new coach didn't recruit my son so he may not feel the same way Coach Fisher and Bo did. He might have his own WR picks.I just felt that Nebraska was where God sent us. The coaching staff was so generous to us.

Monique we do not have a new coach yet, but when we do I am sure he will reach out to your son and everyone else that is or was committed under Pelini. Please do not think for one second that the Huskers do not want your son Stanley on the football team. As you have probably already read on this site there were many reasons why Bo was let go ,Bo created most of these problems himself it was not the win loss total. We as fans appreciated the clean program and the way he treated his players (minus the way he berated players on the sidelines during several televised games), but were not impressed with some other areas that we believe can only be fixed with a new coach. We truly believe that the future will be even brighter as a Husker!!

  8. Dearest Mark Pelini,

As a Husker fan, I may never be able to erase the 408 yards your defense became spectators to against Wisconsin and Melvin Gordon. It was a tough day for anyone wearing the "N".

Still, I happen to think we've got a damn good one in our back field too. Although lagging from a knee injury, Ameer Abdullah seems like he could still run north and south on just about anybody. This knee injury only makes him closer to human, but still obviously superior to mankind.

So a though occurred to me. What would help me ease the pain of that disgusting filth of a pinkshirt performance, we last Saturday?

Well what if the record books looked like this:

    1. Ameer Abdullah - 409 yards

    2. Melvin Gordon - 408 yards

True vindication would be to do to Wisconsin what they did to us, but Ameer will never again get that chance, and lets face it.....it won't happen against them and their all of a sudden "world dominating" defense. But! Iowa, yes, there's a lowly team we could make look like the Blackshirts did on Saturday. Let's run it on them! Sit Ameer this week against Minnesota and let him prepare for this.

So my early Christmas wish dearest Mark Pelini, with Nebraska's record breaking back, Ameer Abdullah, lets set another record. Since Ameer seems capable of running north and south even with the injury, let scrap this stretch zone garbage.....heh-hmmm......I mean, Tim Beck's offense, and lets go I- formation. Line Armstrong up under center, give Abdullah a fullback lead blocker, and hand him the ball. Don't stop handing that damn ball to him til' either he begs for mercy or after Iowa begs us to stop. Regardless, nobody quits til' Ameer is the record holder. I can't visualize Ameer giving up, so we should be able to do this.

This is the only way I might slightly be able to ever forget what you've done to the beloved Blackshirt defense over your seven years here, especially THE 408.

Why is this written to Mark Pelini, do you think he can get uncle Bo to change to offense?

  9. Funny Wisconsin replaced 9 guys on D from a year ago and they have the right guys for the system, make tackles, are in the right spots with a rookie DC. If Tim had a clue we would have put up 40 on those guys. What's more worrisome is what the hell is our D doing that we can't play D like they do? You can't tell me wisconsin has more talent on D.

Funny how we have had this conversation about our defense ever since Suh left. If I were to look at things in a big picture manner it would seem like Suh was the only reason the defensive scheme worked against good teams. The Huskers out talent lesser teams now, but refuse to see its the scheme holding them back from being competitive against better teams without him. And it seems like we have plenty of talent to field a good offense and even returned many key areas with experience but they act like they are learning everything new again every year. It all just baffles me these past few seasons.

  10.

Last two times against Wisconsin. Two completely new defenses. Both times get blown out. Both times Bo blames it on missed assignments. C'mon man just admit that your scheme doesn't work against the Badgers. There's no way your players mess up their assignments THAT bad in both games.

The scheme worked fine for a quarter when we played our fits and tackled. The rest of the game it didn't work. Wiscy didn't do anything drastically different yet we were hashed like no other defense in the history of football. I would say the players should wear some of the blame. U have unblocked next level defenders absolutely whiffing in the run fits. Gordon made us pay.

no. It wasnt drastically different but little adjustments make a big difference. A little angle here, a matchup there. Tet we do NOTHING to counter.

Maybe they don't pay attention to little things either? Just trust the system.

  11.

I've had enough. Fire Bo at the end of the year. We all know Minnesota is gonna run all over us and Iowa is no free win either.

Fire Bo now and give the team to Ron Brown!

While I'm a huge fan of Ron Brown, let's not.

I was kidding, but it would really make the season a lot more interesting from here on out.

  12. How would Bo know, he has never given them an opportunity to get game experience and we have heard that Armstrong has the it factor. Gamers game, how can they really even compare without real time in games? If we are losing that badly and the other guy isn't getting it done why not let your backup get some experience?

So ... you didn't watch the S. Miss game?

I should have said meaningful time, that wasn't even enough time to get into a rhythm. He ran the ball four times, and never threw. How is that game experience?

  13. But the MO under Bo is to let a 75% Martinez play over a 100% backup.

And none of us should voice loud criticism towards that, because Bo and co. are the only ones that know if a 75% Martinez is a better or worse chance to win than a 100% backup.

Play who gives you the best shot to win. Period. If that's a less effective Martinez, then it is.
