Looks like Husker.com updated the roster.    Dayvin Johnson moved on and I am guessing Guthmiller is dropping baseball to concentrate on his studies.

Covid rules allow for a roster of 40 and they non-count players with the covid year so that's an extra 3 I think.

That would leave 1 extra.   It could be an injury waiver but I am guessing there are walkons that will redshirt this year and they don't count against the 40.

The roster has to be 39 total for the season (35 + the 4 seniors that qualify for the extra COVID year). With the listed roster at 44, that puts us at 5 over.

There are rumblings that there are a few season ending injuries that have happened so they can be removed but stay with the team and rehab. This would help explain why the roster still says 44 for the time being.

With the assumption that the roster is set and the three transfers probably wouldn't have come if they were going to ride the pine...

Starters (alphabetically) - Bandoumel, Gary, Griesel, Walker, Wilcher

Rotation (alphabetically) - Breidenbach, Dawson, Kieta, McPherson, Tominaga

Depth - Kojenets, Lawrence, Lloyd & the walk-ons (Burt, Hoiberg, Jacobsen, McGraw)

Agree with most except with what you have except Lloyd playing over McPherson. Lloyd is a Top 100 recruit, we'll try and get him time. Lawrence gets in the rotation if Tominaga has the same struggles from three as last year.

Also Breidenbach starting with Gary subbing for him off the bench.

Brother was hired as Missouri's HC.  It's been speculated that he would join him.

From this same local media member, he is now saying Armon is not being considered for a position according to his sources. It will be interesting to see if Fred or Armon decide he should stay regardless.

  4. All three games are being streamed on FloBaseball.com (subscription required).

NOTE: If you sign up, be advised it defaults to the annual plan. It shows $12.50 a month but this is signing up for the annual plan. Even if you cancel after the month, it will charge you the full annual plan amount of $150. You have to manually switch it to the monthly plan which is $29.99 to cancel with no re-occurring charges.

  5. I completely agree with all the above points on BIG baseball coverage. BTN certainly does a poor job promoting regardless of if they are able to broadcast or not. My comment was solely on television/streaming coverage for the non-conference schedule. I think baseball is underserved across the board as I have not seen any promotion on the ACC/SEC/Pac-12 networks some of which ESPN+ is broadcasting. I'm still bitter only one game this weekend is being streamed by ESPN+.

  6. One of the main reasons that BTN doesn't have it published is that all BIG teams play on the road early on due to weather. BTN only has rights to the home games. I.E. Sam Houston State vs Huskers is at their park so ESPN has the rights.

If we want to be bitter, how about ESPN+ only set to stream the Friday night game of the 4-game series of Sam Houston State this weekend? I'm hoping they update to more as it gets closer.

  7. I checked the UConn local papers and thought this was interesting. As noted above, given how we are against left-handers (Feole), I wouldn't mind this one bit.

"Penders said Nebraska (31-22) doesnt run a whole lot and, like UConn, its biggest strength is its pitching staff. Penders is debating whether to start staff ace and potential high MLB draft pick Mason Feole on Friday against Nebraska, or hold him off for Game Two."

Has anyone heard any recent rumblings about former HCTM and his future plans?

Wondering if he is still in Lincoln? Or if he plans on coaching again in the future?

Or maybe just sitting out a year and pondering?

Whatever he decides, I hope it works out for him......

The recent podcast TM did with Jeff Goodman - talks about his future - sounds like he is going to take a year off and then try and get back to coaching. Interesting listen.

Hoiberg doesn’t get along with Jamie Pollard. Iowa State played in a tournament in Hawaii and their flight home was canceled/delayed and Pollard wouldn’t pay for rooms for the team to stay in and they had to sleep in the conference rooms at the airport.

You're totally right on Pollard. Thank you for bring that up (makes me feel better)!

Does anyone know when tickets go on sale?

Last year single game tickets went on sale November 1st. It will probably be a week earlier or so this year with the basketball start date moved a week. They wait a pretty long time to see if they can get as many season ticket buyers as possible.

You can always check Stubhub or other sites from season ticket holders who have already put up games for sale.

So stacking our schedule with cupcakes to help the win total out may backfire....

Every team has a few of those in their schedule. We had the opportunity for a top non-con schedule:

    Kansas

    Creighton

    Boston College

St. Johns (Predicted to be a NIT or NCAA team before injuries)

UCF ((Predicted to be a NIT or NCAA team before injuries))

*If we had won the UCF game we would have played West Virginia, Missouri both Top RPI teams in the holiday tournament.

The problem was not our schedule, it was that we didn't win any of them (besides BC)
