  1. When do we start wearing ribbons for prostrate cancer? I have all the sympathy in the world for the ladies (my Mom was a survivor.) but with what a guy has to go through for an exam... well we all know, or will know what that's like. Time for the BLUE ribbons to be worn.

So basically what you're say is is that you're upset that those who feel passionately about breast cancer research have put their time and money where their collective mouths and hearts are and done a heckuva job to market and advertise awareness better than those who feel the same way about prostate cancer? If you feel so strongly, ever thought of organizing on your own or would that just be too ridiculous of a notion?

  2. My understanding of the topic is that Johnson got rid of Groh in an attempt to brand him as a scapegoat for the team's failings this season. I guess Bo could do the same, but if the reasoning behind the move(s) is to create a scapegoat(s), then what has really been accomplished?

  3. This is the kind of game where I think that it would behoove us to send guys like Martin on a pretty regular basis. We know they can't run and that they'll put it up 70% of the time (obviously more after they're down a bunch of scores). We also know that their tackles/rest of the OL are gonna be pretty bad in comparison to what we're used to seeing. With a strong secondary and a relentless pass rush, I think that their offense turns into more Tecmo Bowl-esque complexity as opposed to NCAA Football 2013.

  4. The youth movement is not ideal because it makes you worry about our older guys.. but if we're going to do it, do it against teams like Idaho State.

I agree with a previous poster that Cooper strikes me as a safety/linebacker hyrbid role... He cant handle speed of WR's but I would rather have him out there than Waley or Fisher.

I don't understand. What is there to worry about with the older guys?

  5. Word on the street is...

Anderson actually tore it at Football 101 and he is going to be apart of a class-action lawsuit with Beverly Morgan. He was told by Coach Els to "make a tackle!" but after watching the other linebackers in the aptly named "UCLA drill" miss and miss, he wasn't quite sure how to do it. He felt his knee pop and Coach Els took him to the sideline. Els said that medical trainers would come by, but they never did until after the game on Saturday. At that point, the torn ACL was discovered.

Ironically, Coach Pelini will be joining the suit as well because of an injury that he sustained at Football 101. He was told by Coach Pappois to "run a 3-4 defense!" but after looking at his upperclass linebackers, noting their less-than-stellar closing speed, he started to grow extremely agitated and fel this blood pressure rising. This condition persisted, but remained in semi-remission until the day of the Arkansas State football game when he felt like he ACTUALLY had to run the defense. He grew worse than normal and had to leave the game. The pre-existing condition discovered at the hospital and the link to Football 101 was made shortly thereafter.

Morgan, Anderson, and Pelini are asking for a collective $180,945 from Tim Beck, Ross Els, John Pappois, and the Bo Pelini Foundation.

The sarcasm note was not needed. If you lack common sense at that level, there is no hope for you.

  7. 106th in Passing Offense

    108th is Rushing Offense

    107th in Scoring Offense

    115th in Scoring Defense

    That's domination.

I mean, it would be one thing if they had played LSU, 'Bama, and Florida State in the first 3 weeks, but CSU, Fresno, and Division 1-AA West....yeah, they suck.

  8. I was at the Arkansas vs. Alabama game with my cousin this weekend in Arkansas. Jamone Boyd was there by himself without family and I didn't see friends with him either. He was in a white t-sh#t and black shorts while a lot of other recruits had families with them and were in Arkansas gear. Jamone walked right past me a few times. He is a physical specimen. He stood out on the sidelines amongst the other recruits as being way more physically ready to go than the others. We thought he was an NFL linebacker at first because he has that build.

Anyways... a few notes. Arkansas has their recruits go to the stands before their tunnel entrance. Their entrance is not very exciting and players don't get locker room or field interaction like they do at Nebraska. He didn't seem to be having a great time. Basically he was stuck in the middle of a bunch of white kids who looked like they were 15. He was pretty quiet and very mannerly, letting others go first and saying yes ma'am and no sir. Arkansas was down 38-0 at halftime and by the 3rd quarter a large majority of fans had left. So half the game he was sitting there in a pretty empty, dead quiet stadium. Though Arkansas fans are loud and lively... they do leave games early A LOT. Arkansas ended up having about 20,000 fans left at the end of the game. It was pretty bad. I didn't hear anyone call out Jamone's name either... a lot of fans didn't know who he was. Whereas at Nebraska you always hear recruits saying they are amazed at people knowing their names.

anywho... I just thought it was interesting.

Have to ask: why did you actually stay until the end of the game?

  9. They looked great..........except the team they were playing didnt have a pulse. We have seen this year in and year out, look great agianst inferior competition and the second we play a decent team we either eek out a win or lose due to bonehead mistakes. Not too excited about this team so far.

Aplin was player of the year last year in the Sun-Belt and Oku is no slouch at RB either. Yes they were an inferior team, but we still kept a good offense from scoring and I was impressed. Wonder what Malzan's thoughts were on our D?

Doesn't Oku have a kid in Lincoln?

  10. Why wont anyone say what the problem was? All we hear is he wasnt feeling well. Why hold onto this information? It has to come out sometime. What is to gain by keeping this info a secret? I just dont get it.

Probably because it's non of our business. :dunno

Wait a minute. I don't get it. The colllege football coacho, essentially, of the state, has a private life? They showed ass't coaches taking his pulse the entire first half and he ahas a private life now. Ha, yah, ok.

  11. So, Anderson would be taking the place of? Whaley? Is that right?

    You would be correct.

    Thanks

I am shocked there are no "tweets" about who/what the 3-4 might look like.

I would honestly be surprised to see a 3-4. I haven't heard any of the coaches say anything about switching to a 3-4, only a few posters on this board who have speculated about it.

If anybody has a quote/vid/audio clip of Bo, Papuchis, or any of the coaches saying anything about switching to a 3-4, I would love to hear it.

I don't know if you will find the quotes, but if you look at the shift in the heights/weights/speed of the guys that we recruited last year and this year and compare these guys to previous years, it's pretty obvious to see that the defensive priorities, at least in the front 7 have shifted. This is especially true at DT where you can easily deduce that we are going from traditional 4-3 dts, to true 3-4, pile-creators.

As far as Anderson goes, I hope that people don't get too excited before the game or even if he plays well against Ark St. and assume that he is going to be the second coming of LD. Those are tough shoes to fill and I would honestly be satisfied if he a. looks athletic b. can tackle. Both of those qualities together would be an upgrade from what was out there the first two games.

  12. I'm sorry you thought that I was talking about Nebraska. I don't think we are a 'win at all cost' team. However, I do think Billy C made promises to get the players he wanted because he wanted to win-because we (Nebraska Nation) wanted to win. But it didn't work. I DO think that Kiffin is that type of coach. I really hated the way he treated Tennesee. I also have similar suspicions about Urban Meyer. Why didn't he stay at Florida? Because they weren't winning anymore and he wanted to coach a team that wins-all the time. Saban cuts players that won't perform for him after promising them scholarships. That's terrible! So my point, and I'm sorry I wasn't clear-is that there is more involved in the game than winning. Taking care of the players is most important and I think Bo does that. Did Bill do that? I'm sure he did but there was just something that was not there with him coaching at Nebraska.

I don't doubt that he does in most instances. He's got what, 125 guys on that roster? I'm sure 115 will tell you that taking care of them is a high priority to Bo (i doubt all would say the "highest" but likely up there). I'm sure 115 of Kiffins will too however. But there are plenty that think otherwise and likely for good reason. Why are so many talented guys packing up and leaving the program if not? We were short something like 7 scholarships this season. Say what you will, Bo weeds guys out of the program just like Urban does, or Miles does. It might not get publicized as much because Nebraska is far from the relevancy that these guy's programs are. And I highly doubt Urban left Florida because they were losing. He coached at Utah remember...he's been faced with adversity in his programs before. He went to Ohio State under sanctions. He's facing adversity there as well. Guys have their dream jobs. Kiffin is in his I'm sure. I don't blame him for a bit leaving Tennessee. I'm sure when he took that job he wasn't planning on watching Pete Carol leave USC for a number of years. When your dream job falls into your lap you take it with both hands...redneck perception be damned.

That wasn't necessary. I am not a redneck and just because my opinion is different from yours is not reason to call names. How immature!

I think that he may have been alluding to all of the Tennessee fans that were up in arms when Kiffin bolted to USC
