  1. I mean I'm sure Saban wouldn't leave Bama, but I'd still pursue him regardless. Make people aware of the level of coach we want and expect to get.
  2. IMO the NW game is the season and it doesn't look good for Bo because of the mobile QB issue. If/when we lose that game, we have Dennard the week after and likely another loss. That puts us at 4-4 and in a 3 game losing streak, so then you have the possibility of Bo losing the team aka 2007 with BC. Then it may not matter if the QB is mobile or not as the kids just wont' care anymore. Bo has two weeks to figure out a Mobile QB, if not then his tenure here may be over at seasons end. Oh how sweet that would be. I'll gladly take a complete melt down season as a sacrifice year if it meant getting Bo the hell out of here. And I wouldn't even feel bad about it. And to all of those saying we can't get a top coach...two words for ya: Money Talks Welcome to big time college football 2012. It's not being dominated by yes men experimental first year coaches and golf teachers. It's being dominated by MONEY!!! I've been saying the same exact thing for the past couple of weeks. You pay whatever it takes to get a top-notch coach to turn things around, just like Alabama did. Their fans finally said "We've had enough" and demanded better, they stuck to their guns and didn't lower their standards or expectations, and now look at them.
  3. What happened to the Nebraska football program? 1. Frank stopped recruiting 2. Steve P. stopped tradition 3. Cosgrove stopped the Blackshirts 4. Bo kept the status quo. WE ARE NEBRASKA!!! And Nebraska does have standards. We believe in running the football and stopping the run on defense. We believe in physically dominating the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. We believe in option football. We believe in power football. We believe in a play-action passing game. These spread offenses may work for other teams, but we had an identity that worked for over 50 years, and it wasn't the spread. We understand that penalties are part of the game, but many of these stupidly repeated penalties lately have to stop. It's not just a coincidence anymore, the frequency of the same penalties have become a habit, and they are costing us games. We believe in winning at least 9 games a year, at least competing for a conference championship every year, playing in a bowl game, and being consistently in the Top 10. We believe in playing for a National Championship before we ever think about roses. So a message to you Coach Pelini, your efforts the last 5 years have been respectable, but these last two years your teams are starting to slip below our standards for our Nebraska Cornhuskers. Defensive performances such as UCLA this year, and Ohio State are examples of the Nebraska brand being embarrassed on national tv. It may surprise you but we can tolerate a loss in Nebraska. However these kind of performances at UCLA and Ohio State are unacceptable. A change in defensive and offensive schemes are no longer just a suggestion, they are now a requested demand.
  4. If we actually end up with a losing record this year, then yeah, I could see Pelini being axed. Not sure if the team will drop that low, though. Probably will go to some second-rate bowl and then talk about how good we'll be next year.
  5. I disagree. Anything under 9 wins is unacceptable, IMO. Osborne established that number as the standard and never went beneath it. The first time a coach achieves less than that, a possible replacement must be discussed.
  6. I don't think this will be Bo's last season, although I do think he'll be on the hot seat after this season. I doubt we'll win 9 games. Michigan, MSU, NW, and even Penn State will all be tough games. Martinez will be a SR next year and if we can't win something with the talent we'll have coming back then I think Bo will be shown the door.
  7. +1. All of that BS about "no coach wants to come here, blah blah blah, our expectations our too high" is just that -- BS.
  8. I agree 100% -- it's like some people simply refuse to see the bigger picture, no matter how clear it is. Denial? Wishful thinking? I don't know what it is.
  9. That is BS, in my opinion. LSU and Bama and other top-tier teams have the same expecatations (if not higher) and any coach would jump at the chance to coach at those schools. We have to stop making excuses for our shortcomings. Money talks. Then why couldnt we get one 10 frickin years ago, when the brand was still there. heh? huh? How many coaches, ones that are great by now, had no interest. Hell Urban Meyer was one of them, but to go to a team that fired a 9 win coach, well, that concept was laughable to him. literally, he laughed. Oh, OK. So let's just continue to hire no-name coaches and hope that we get lucky. Yeah, that's smart. Also, please remember that Callahan was not the top choice, he was picked after other choices fell through.
  10. That is BS, in my opinion. LSU and Bama and other top-tier teams have the same expecatations (if not higher) and any coach would jump at the chance to coach at those schools. We have to stop making excuses for our shortcomings. Money talks. The lim-fac IMO is finding a good coach who won't come in and change the entire culture of the program. Callahan tried it and look how that turned out for him. Yeah, but just because it failed with Callahan doesn't mean that we shouldn't try it again. Callahan wasn't an established college coach. We need an established coach and proven recruiter. We can't roll the dice on another unestablished commodity.
  11. That is BS, in my opinion. LSU and Bama and other top-tier teams have the same expecatations (if not higher) and any coach would jump at the chance to coach at those schools. We have to stop making excuses for our shortcomings. Money talks.
  12. So sad to see how far standards have fallen over the past 15 years or so. We want to settle for unestablished coaches just to save $$. Why? We need an ESTABLISHED core of coaches who know how to recruit. I like Bo, but this is Year Five, and I continue to see the same mistakes year after year with so signs of improvent. Our recruiting classes barely crack the Top 25 yet we get upset when our team barely cracks the Top 25. People say our recruiting classes have improved the past couple of years, but I disagree. We barely cracked the Top 25, and many of the top recruits left for one reason or another.
  13. Stopping mobile QBs has been a problem long before Bo ever got here. Corby Jones, Seneca Wallace, Michael Bishop, etc etc
  14. I was actually looking more at '14 being our year. We are seeing the effects of Bo's first 2 recruiting classes. It will get better though. I agree with this 100%. I think Bo was learning with the recruiting and it going to have to cycle out. We are still 1-2 years away in my opinion. No offense, but what exactly has he learned? Our recruiting classes still barely crack the Top 25, yet we wonder why our performance on the field is subpar. Until we get some great recruiters here, nothing is going to change. Sad but true.
  15. I don't think OSU stands any chance of winning the BCS, but they could potentially make the title game if they win out, with a little luck.
  16. Amazing what Bill Snyder has been able to do at KSU, AGAIN.
  17. Surprised to see FSU drop. So, who's still in the discussion? Bama, Oregon, S.Carolina, Ohio St. ND, WVU, KSU, Florida
  18. the O is still fighting, but for what? The D isn't helping them any.
  19. Just a sad, pathetic, embarassing performance. Hate to say it, but Flu was 100% right.
  20. I like Papuchis, seems like a good guy, like his fire... but he wasn't ready to be a DC.
  21. Can't expect to compete with elite teams without elite recruits. We need a proven recruiter, some way, somehow, truth
  22. I just don't know how long we continue to put up with this same old bullsh#t, year after year after year. After year after year.
