I guess the CFP has taken over as the top priority in the sport and programs cannot imagine playing a season that cannot result in a playoff berth.  Otherwise you could play in winter/spring and really have the tv audience all to yourselves and a few dozen PAC fans.

I just don't see the spring season working while expected to play a fall season in 2021. While a playoff birth/National championship is obviously the end goal, even a Thanksgiving start date is better than spring ball. I just want to see some B1G football played this year.

    Pretty good coaching lineage.

Lots of good info here's some that caught my eye

    • Involved in numerous areas of the program including player personnel, analytics, defensive strategy, game planning and on-campus recruiting

Could be to help replace Gundy as well

    • Coached safeties in a Notre Dame secondary that helped the Irish rank 15th in the Football Bowl Subdivision in fewest passing yards allowed per game (198.2), 16th in passing yards allowed per completion (10.73) and 17th in passing yards allowed per attempt (6.31)
    • Critical in the development of Notre Dame’s inexperienced secondary in 2012
    • Coached secondary that helped the Irishrank among the top 20 FBS schools in thefollowing pass defense categories: fewest pass yards per completion (9.95, 2nd), fewest touchdown passes (11, t-6th), pass efficiency (111.36, 16th), interceptions (16, t-20th), fewest pass yards per attempt (5.98,13th) interception percentage (3.69, 24th) and pass defense (199.77, 25th)

    Coach them up, right?

    • Part of a coaching staff at Kansas State that helped the Wildcats record a pair of 11-win seasons, claim the school’s first Big 12 championship and advance to the 2003 Fiesta Bowl – thefirst BCS bowl appearance in school history
    • Guided defenses at Kansas State that allowed an average of 111.6 rushing yards per game, 194.1 passing yards per game over his four seasons as defensive coordinator
    • Elliott's 2002 defense led the nation in scoring defense (11.8 points per game), ranked second in total defense (249.0 yards) and rushing defense (69.5 yards) and was third in pass efficiency defense (91.7)
    • Mentored Kansas State cornerback Terence Newman, who was a consensus All-American in 2002 and recipient of the Jim Thorpe Award
    • Helped Newman capture the 2002 Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year and become the fifth overall selection in the 2003 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys

He slipped up and said "we are positioned with the right leader."

I noticed that as well. I think he already has his next coach lined-up. Remember the University has to have the position posted publicly for so many days before they can announce a hire.

So this begs the question: How soon do we hear the University hired a new coach?

My guess would be sometime next week. Maybe after the conference championship games.

I can't remember off the top of my head what the time limit is for how long the job has to be posted to the public?

I'm not sure on the time but I know you have to interview a few candidates.

  4. Remember its a division bases system, this is not basketball. And we finished 3rd in our division last year. 5-3 in conference can easily be a 3rd place finish in a division in any year. Compare this class is Ohio State's player to player, athlete to athlete.

And I criticize because I care. I think we can, and should be doing better in this arena than what we are.

I don't want to be Ohio State, as these guys have said we have done a great job of finishing up this class and starting up the next.

Nebraska is not Ohio State and never will be and that's fine with me, this staff is starting to make moves and i'm excited.

What moves are being made by the NU staff that are starting to be manifest. Most years here recently NU has recruited in the upper-middle of the conference pack and finished the season in the upper-middle of the conference pack. This recruiting class is again upper-middle of the conference --- and NU finished again upper-middle of the conference. How is anything changing? This seems to be the same ol' same ol' again. I see nothing to be excited about. It seems quite status qua. There is no reason to view this recruiting class as being very different from the typical Pelini NU class. In what way is this staff "starting to make moves"?

The late recruiting push, the start to next years class, I really like the kids we are bringing in this year especially on the lines.

  6. Looks like we are finished with the D line, with the 2 DE-commits last 2 weeks have we improved, remained the same or are we weaker ?

The loss of Clinkscales and that he would be able to come in and play right away hurts. I really like the guys we have I think we slide McClain inside. Him and Wills have a huge upside, I'm really excited for this Class
