  1. I think Barney and his personality will allow him, if given the chance, take the OL job for the same pay. His love for Nebraska, the state and University, will help him make that decision. Pelini may have been seen bringing out his box, but after a day or two to relax and settle down, If given the opportunity will take the job also. He is bitching a bit. That's his personality.
  2. I think were going to pull about five kids nobody has even heard of and 2-4 that are all ready committed. Callahan is that good. I can't wait until he takes that trip to Florida. Very excited to see who will commit after that.
  3. He'll need to get in within the next year or two because after that, I believe, with his age he won't be eligible to be voted in by media, but rather the hall members or something. Those olders guys don't want him in. I don't think I support his candidacy for the hall. Waited to long and its wrong to bet on games that in someway you can alter.
  4. Found this in an article from USA Today: "Lemming said Callahan's call list includes uncommitted blue-chippers such as quarterback Rocky Hinds of Playa Del Rey, Calif.; defensive end Tim Jamison of Harvey, Ill.; offensive lineman Roland Martin of Chicago; wide receiver-defensive back Santino Panico of Libertyville, Ill.; and running back Brian Toal of Ramsey, N.J." Interesting to know why he has selected these players as opposed to others. Does anyone have that link to the "top recruiters" of all time. Interesting to see that. I think Seth Olsen is a big lose. I really thought so far he was a biggest offensive line recruit.
  5. I'm sure that will be televised by all news in Lincoln/Omaha right?? Any webcast??
  6. (Barry)Alvarez marveled at Callahan's meticulous organizational skill, recalling a time when the two were discussing Bill Parcells' new book. After Alvarez said he hadn't read it, Callahan produced a typed outline the next day. "It was like Cliff Notes," Alvarez said. "I didn't even have to read it. He'd broken it down for me." Callahan has collected files on offensive theory from everyone from Bear Bryant to Bill Walsh and filed them carefully away so they can be pulled out at a moment's notice.
  7. Behind the scenes, Callahan had coordinated Oakland's running game and coached the offensive line, earning a reputation as a detail-oriented perfectionist. "If you put a guy six inches deep in mud, Coach Callahan would look at the film and say, 'If you rotated your shoulder just a quarter-turn this way, it could have been seven inches,' " Raiders guard Frank Middleton said.
  8. "There's nobody that's on the screws more than Bill Callahan is," said Jim Harbaugh, the 15-year NFL quarterback who began his coaching career this year as an offensive assistant in Oakland. "His organization, his dedication just rubs off on all the assistants. I could not be in a better place to learn how to be a coach."
  9. What Bill Romanowski has said about our new coach: "I've been coached by the so-called best in the history of the game," said Raiders linebacker Bill Romanowski, who played for Bill Walsh and Seifert in San Francisco and Mike Shanahan in Denver. "This guy, when it's all said and done, I think he'll go down as one of the best coaches in history. "This guy is a coach. He's not about ego. He's not about trying to build himself up. He's about coaching football, and he's very good at it." Prettycool, I think we got our man
  10. BILL CALLAHAN http://www.huskerbay.com/new/callahan.htm
  11. If Bo is kept, I think little will be lost as far as recruiting, I hope. One of the next questions is who will Callahan bring in?? What philosophy? but who will he keep as coaches? Oh things are juicy now
  12. Basically, all the things I have heard of this guy is he has that character, integrity yada yada, but can he recruit??? Will he keep the option? Which I think is the greatest offensive play ever developed if used correctly, What offense will he run?? Apparently NZone has reported Pelini will be kept on as Assisstant head coach and DCordinator. Okay, great...I'm not upset, but what about Gill?? Is he gone?? I would think if he walks into someones home with that big fat AFC championship ring that ought to work. Well I want to be the first to say .... Welcome aboard Coach Callahan, I will support you and the coaches you hire or retain, I will root as loud as I can, I will support your decisions, I am prouder than ever to wear red. Good Luck
  13. Huskers Ranked in National Polls Courtesy: NU Sports Information Release: 01/07/2004 Baseball America Preseason Poll Collegiate Baseball Preseason Poll Courtesy: Scott Bruhn/NU SID Office Third baseman Alex Gordon and the Huskers look to defend their Big 12 title in 2004. Lincoln – With the start of baseball practice set to begin in just over two weeks, the Nebraska baseball team is ranked nationally in both preseason polls released over the last two weeks. The Huskers are 20th by Collegiate Baseball, as the publication lists five conference squads in its preseason top 40, and are ranked 24th in Baseball America’s preseason poll and are one of four Big 12 teams ranked in the top 25 by the publication. Other Big 12 teams ranked in at least one preseason publication include Texas (5 in Collegiate Baseball, 8 in Baseball America), Baylor (11, 13), Texas A&M (32, 21) and Oklahoma State (33, NR). Judging by the preseason polls, the Huskers will be tested in 2004, as Nebraska faces 10 of the teams ranked by Collegiate Baseball, including top-ranked and defending national champion Rice, who is atop both preseason polls. In fact, five of the Huskers first 12 games – which are all away from Hawks Field – will be against nationally ranked opponents including matchups with Rice (1, 1), North Carolina (21, 15) Florida State (24, 22) Minnesota (25, /NR) and San Diego (39, NR). The Huskers will open the 2004 campaign in Albuquerque, N.M., the weekend of Feb. 20-22, when they take on the host Lobos, Kent State and Northwestern. The Huskers will play their first 12 games on the road before opening up at home against Western Illinois on Tuesday, March 16.
  14. I would keep my eye out for the news tonight at 10pm. There has got to be something as long as they all meet. No????
  15. Almost took the Raiders to the Super Bowl or did he I can't keep up with that other football league. That's got to be worth something
  16. It was on NETV. Sipple felt pretty good about Callahan, the ex Raider, he "intrigued him". He made a good point that just because a coach didn't fair well the pros doesn't mean they can't or won't do well in college. Pete Carrol and Steve Spurier are good examples. Mine would be John Robinson, Dennis Ericson, and Butch Davis all faired well in the college game and then not so fair in the pros. What sucks is what Trev Alberts said. Whoever does come in, besides Gill, won't give a damn about Nebraska or know much about the tradition. AHHHH but times a change.
  17. Right down on "O" St. The best wings and dive all in one place. It used to be really good about three, four years ago, but a couple new owners and prices have gone up. sh**ty happy hour as far as prices, but still great wings.

  19. It'll be interesting to see if the Huskers are for real. If they go .500 or a game above they might make the tournament. Hopefully Minnesota ot Arizona St. kick it into gear and make the Huskers victories look good.

  21. What if Peilni or Gill is selected as coach. Would out recruiting reallly go down that far?? You know most of the staff would be retained..............patience everyone, still a month to go. The coaches no longer preparing game plans. The only thing they will have to do is recruit. Plus many of the recruits are visiting in the upcoming weeks.
  22. Bill Callahan is the next on the Budweiser hot seat. LJS reports Pelini and Gill to get there interviews on Wednesday. This most likely means new coach by the end of the week. http://www.journalstar.com/corn.php?story_id=112085
  23. You never know though. You can call it a wash and this sucks, but funny things happen in recruiting. Guys can switch at the last second. I happens all the time.
  24. What do you think Turner should have done. Turn sh#t into gold. For one Jamal Lord sucked as a QB in high school. I watched him. He played in the Hudson County football league in Jersey. The entire league (ten teams) probably threw 150 passes between all of them in there 9 game schedule. Lord himself, if I remember correctly, threw about 35 passes THE ENTIRE YEAR!!!! Crouch sucked in High School too. He could run the option very well, plus he's golden boy from Nebraska. How many passes did Millard throw this year when they went 13-0 or whatever. Maybe 5 if that in the Championship game of all things. Crouch couldn't throw a lick. The only pass everyone remembers is the one thrown to him against Oklahoma. Frost.....well Frost you know. He couldn't hit the ground if he were on top of the Empire State Building. But he had a great team. Frazier wasn't a spectacular passer either, but he hit the passes he needed to. Mickey Joseph...whoa...look out My point here is the players they recruited to play the position were brought in to run. Not throw. Run. The coaches new what they were getting. I can assure you at least half of the QB practices, time was taken to practice the option and footwork. When you want to create a passer you have got to emphasis and put time into it. As an assisstant coach you take orders from the boss. To gauge Gill soley based on the QB's and players under his coaching is not the entire fair. Have you ever heard anyone say something bad about him? Has any of his QB's ever gotten in trouble? Have all his QB's graduated? Do all of his ex-players have great things to say about him? When he speaks is he sincere and intellegent? That's what I would look at in a head coach.
  25. Not even close. Pederson to Oklahoma and Toal will probably stay out East. Boston College where his older brother goes or Virginia Tech, his dad went there. He played on a team in Jersey that finished up being ranked 2nd in the country. They were supposed to face De La Salle from Cally, but it fell through. Something within New Jersey conference rules.
