  1. Warrior10 ... I marveled at the way Adam went into rehab with the torn ACL. The work effort, the training, the focus on getting better and stronger. To be the best he could be for his team, the school and the Katy community. He is very focused and serious about getting stronger, bigger, faster and doing what will make the team better. I can not remember any one player at Katy with that level of dedication to excellence. Soon the Husker Nation will be as proud of Adam as the Katy Nation is. One of our very best is now in your hands ... so get him some cold weather duds and give him some tips on how to drive in the snow and ice ... wouldn't want to have him get hurt in a car wreck would ya. LOL OK Atbone I'm ready to hear it from ya again. By the way, you can watch Katy play for the State Title on Sat. @ 8:00pm on Fox Sports Southwest. Will be a rematch with the team we beat last year ... Cedar Hill. Katy could end the game with two 2,000ys RBs in the same backfield. ..... Rodney Anderson (jr) #26 needs +/- 180yds. (he missed 6 games this year with a foot injury) ..... Kyle Porter (soph) #5 needs +/- 140yds. If you watch the game, tell me if Katy with the unis and offensive sets and plays does not remind you of the Husker teams of the past with guys like Rozier carrying the rock out of the "I" formation
  2. Thanks for the info on Adam. we are very proud of him and I'm sure he is proud of his Katy Tigers as they advance to ther State Title game this Sat. against the same team he played against last year.
  3. HuskerNationNick ... Nice to hear about the defensive commits. Defense wins championships. You also might keep an eye on #45 LB Jake Blomstrom who is one of the most under-recruited quality LBs in the state. Should be an entertaining game with all the trick plays the Katy opponent will run.
  4. I was impressed watching Abdullah. He runs with a lot of power for his size. Those extra 1,2,3 yards he gets makes a big difference when it helps you keep moving the sticks and keeping drives alive. Some one mentined earlier that the Huskers may be looking for some "D" linemen. Well tune in on the internet this Sat. @ 4:00pn central and watch Katy v San Antonio Johnson playing in the Texas 5A semi-finals and Keep an eye on DE Cody Gessler #93. He wa all-district nose tackle last year. He does not fit the most desrired template for a DE ... but he has the heart, strength, intangibles and a motor that just doesn't stop. The link to the game is: www.legacysportsnetwork.com This shouls be a very interesting game as S. A. Johnson runs every trick play inthe book ... swinging gate, hook and ladder, halfback passes. And their defense uses a technique of allowing the ball carrier to gain additional yards while they try stripping the ball. Some times they actually keep the ball carrier up and moving forward to allow more time to strip the ball. Amazing to watch these tactics ... but hey they have won ball games against tough competition to get this far in the play-offs Check it out. I'd like to hear your comments on the game. Their style of play doesn't bother me ... Katy has the discipline and fundamentals and will pound them till they lose the desire to play any more ... Katy +40. You also might like watching LB Jake bloomstrom #94 And of course my everything Rodney Anderson #26 All these players will come with the intangibles that most D1 players never seem to acquire ... discipline, fundamentals and "team first" attitude.
  5. Over-all how would you sat Newby is doing? Last game I watched he only handled kick returns. Rodeny is only a Jr. He hurt his foot earlier in the year and missed 6 games. Thankfully he is back to full speed. In the game video above he was not used as a receiver out of the slot as he has done in the past. But he also has some uncanny receiving skills and when he gets the ball as a receiver he almost always gobbles up bunches of YAC. Might be time for the Huskers to express some interest. He and Adam are good friends and love playing together. Then you can make plans to go after Kyle Porter, the Soph RB that is showing a lot of promise. All these RBs love playing in Red infront of a packed house. They have the talent, love running out of the "I" and have the intangibles along with the team first attitude. Have your coaches show some interest and start building the pipe line. Hopefully we will bring home another title this year.
  6. Finally found it. If you want to see a power run game out of the "I" formation ... and you have some time, watch this video of the Texas 5A quarter final game between Katy and Manvel. This is Husker style football Keep and eye on ... Rodney Anderson RB (junior) #26 Kyle Porter RB (soph) #5 Cody Gessler DE (Sr) #93 FYI ... I don't think Rodney Anderson's commit to Texas A & M is all that solid. Maybe he just wants the phones to stop ringing for a while and may be getting tired of having to use a dolly to bring in the mail. If we ramp it up this week in the semi-finals Katy may have 2 RB's with over 2,000 yds in the season. If you notice the time of possession in the 4th quarter was Katy...12min v Manvel...0min Might be time to have your recruiting folks give Coach Joseph a social call ... he would love to get an undate on how Adam is doing and maybe talk about Rodney Anderson. Would help to keep the pipeline open
  7. Maybe Newby can be more productive this week against Purdue. The Husker O-line should be able to open things up for him a little more and give him some more space. Remember he is only a freshman and no longer enjoys the speed advantage from a year ago. Takes a while to get used to the speed and size at the next level. Sounds like he is doing fine with room for improvement. Would post more but I've got to run and get ready for the "Friday Night Lights" and get there early to get an up-close parking spot so my pacemaker doesn't go into overdrive if I have to walk from the back 40. GO RED GO
  8. Warrior10 ... not a good day when you put the ball on the carpet. He will get over it and get better. Just glad he didn't get better against the Huskers. Thanks for the info.
  9. Since this is a thread about Adam Taylor, I thought I'd post this. It is Coach Joseph talking about Adam along with some highlights. Coach Joseph's comments will tell the story about why he decided to "redshirt". It is all about the team with Adam. Can't wait to see him carrying the rock next year when he is bigger, stronger and faster. You are not going to find many like him.
  10. Hey ... I did find some highlights. The heir apparent for Katy's featured RB is #26 Rodney Anderson who will be sharing the backfield with promising soph Kyle Porter #5. Check these guys out ... the Huskers may have an interest. Time to start building a pipeline and keep these RB's playing in RED.
  11. Warrior10 ... your prayers were greatly appreciated and Grandma is out of the hospital and on the mend. Back to the football end of things. Did the husker "D" have an effect on Donovon Young or was he just not hitting the lanes. Just wondering because he is a very talented power runner. It was something to watch when Katy had both Donovon Young (as a senior) and Adam Taylor (as a soph) in the same backfield at the same time. Now we have Rodney Anderson (as a junior) and Kyle Porter (as a soph) at the RB positions. It is a very explosive offense running out of the I formation. Wish I could share some video with ya'll, but the school district really jumped the fees the video guys have to pay. Thus all the video they used to post on youtube for us has vanished.
  12. The Huskers are going to be facing another Katy RB when they play Illinois this week. Donovon Young is the former Katy RB you will see. He was referred to as "The Truckmaster" at Katy because he delighted in running over defenders. A very odd coincidence between Adam and Donovon is that they both tore an ACL their junior year, both early in the first game of the season and both against the same team ... the North Shore Mustangs. A team that the Katy faithful refer to as the "Beast from the East" Katy plays their home games west of Houston just off I-10 while North Shore plays their home games in a stadium in fart east Houston. Sad that both of these 2 premier RB's had to suspend their promising careers which dampened interst interest in them by recruiters from many major schools. However it did pay dividends for Illinois and the Huskers. I'm sure Adam and Donovon will find an opportunity to meet and share a moment some where on the field tomorrow. I'll miss the game as I will be traveling to visit a family member that has a serious medical issue. So, let me know how Donovon Young performs in this weeks game. Hope he has a great game, but not to the point to where the Huskers don't come out on top.
  13. Here is a short write-up about Rodney Anderson's performance in last nights game. Keep in mind that in the first 2 games , he was pulled at the half. The photo that came with this would not post. If I can get a video clip of this TD run I'll post it ... was a thing of beauty. Balance, quickness, agility, speed. This is the guy that the Huskers don't seem to have much interest in. Adam taylor's records/stats will pale in comparison to Rodney's. At least try to get him to come up there for a home game. He brings such a great dimension to the offense with his receiving skills. I don't think him going to Texas A & M is a done deal .Katy's Rodney Anderson 97-yard TD (The middle) L. Scott Hainline | Posted: Sunday, September 15, 2013 8:18 am Junior running back Rodney Anderson (26) somehow kept his balance about midway through a 97-yard touchdown run with 6:51 to go in the first half of a 37-14 home victory against The Woodlands on Saturday (Sept 14) at Rhodes Stadium in Katy. Anderson put on another rushing clinic with 226 yards and five touchdowns on 22 carries, and now has 14 touchdowns in three games.
  14. Dude ... the hair is nothing. Have you seen the Andy Dalton Pepsi Commercial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-v5eW-h6Bnk
  15. Don't know if ya'll noticed one of your newest Huskers in the "Boys of Fall" video. That would be #28 Adam Taylor at the following minute marks: 1:48, 2:40, 2:58, 3:04 and 4:26. And Decked you are correct the City of Katy has about 14,000 residents and the High School has just under 3,000 students which makes Katy one of the smallest schools in the district, but the largest campus in the district primarily because it has so many football practice fields. Check it out on Google Earth @ 6331 Highway Blvd. in Katy, TX. Seeing an arial view of this many football practice fields should bring tears of joy to any real football fan.
  16. Morrison ... you might have noticed that Rodney has some uncanny natural football skills. He will surpass all of Adam Taylor's records and give opposing defenses fits. Then there is Kyle Porter. He is only a soph. and already showing great promise. We don't put anything in the water ... what we do is recruit by offering the parents job opportunities working in the rice fields just outside of town. Doesn't pay much but it builds character ... LOL. What we have is a community where the little kids grow up wanting to be a Katy Tiger and are willing to work hard to do it. They also need to buy into the Coaching philosophy which is "team first." Like I said , guys, it won't take much for you to build a pipeline to the program. Have your OC or RB coach give Coach Joseph a social call with an update on how Adam is doing and getting along up there. Coach Joseph really and truely cares about these kids and would welcome a call about Adam. Also you can get info about various players be asking about them on the Katy Tiger Message Board. After you have signed up you can click "New Discussion" in the top right corner. Show some interest in the program and ask your questions. There are some active and informed supporters on there that will be more than happy to provide you some info on their boys in "RED" Check out these videos so you can have an idea about who you will be talking to on the message board This is about the school and the kids. This is about the Katy culture and comminity This is the link to the message board http://www.ktrainstation.net/forum/ Like I've said before ... I'm a big time Katy Tiger supporter and a long time husker fan going back to the days of Mike Rozier who would love to see some of these Katy players play in Red under the lights of a packed house for the Huskers. So, see if you guys can help me out here. You just might get some real quality coachable players with the "Team First" attitude. I don't know much about the Xs and Os ... I just love the winning attitude and the coaching philosophy here at Katy. The importance of football at Katy can best be understood by going to Google Earth and doing a search for: 6331 Highway Blvd in Katy, TX. Zoom in and count the football practice fields ... that will give you some idea. And if you pan a little to the south you can see our rodeo and livestock arena. Hope you enjoy the video links ... that is how it really is.
  17. Here are Rodney Anderson's stats thru 2 games. Both games he only played the 1st half Klein Rushing 17 atts, 208 yds, 3 TDs Receiving 2 rec, 37 yds, 1 TD Alief Taylor Rushing 13 atts, 131 yds, 3 TDs Receiving 2 rec, 75 yds, 2 TDs Total Rushing 30 atts, 339 yds, 6 TDs Receiving 4 rec, 112 yds, 3 TDs 34 touches, 451 yards, 9 TDs So, he touched the ball 34 times and averaged 13.26 yds every time he touched the ball And scored 26.5% of the time he touched the ball. And he is getting faster, stronger every game. And this is just my take on his commitment to Texas A&M. I don't think it is that strong as sometimes a highly rated recruit wants some semblence of a normal life and may make a commitment to get the phones to quit ringing off the wall and lighten the load of inquiries coming in the mail. I imagine Rodney's folks would need a dolly to haul all the mail back to the house as their home is located in a subdivision where you have to walk to the corner or down the block to get the mail at a centralized postal box location.
  18. Atbone95 ... I'm impressed ... you know your football. He led Katy to the 2005 championship game against Southlake Carrol. Andy played the game with a broken bone in his non-throwing hand. Southlake Carroll won 30-14. He attracted very few DIV I offers. TCU took a chance on him and offered a scholly. And what do you know ... he started as a true freshman and led TCU to a Rose Bowl win his senior year. Hats off to you Atbone95 ... student of the game with a great memory.
  19. Atbnone ... Katy runs a 3-4 on "D" using a Nose Tackle and 2 DE's. When I get back in town and have my info in front of me, I'll post it here. The D-linemen we use do not generally fit your profile but are very effective as last years margin of victory was about 40 pts as the "D" was constantly giving the ball back to our "O". I think, if memory serves me correctly, we allowed about 12 pts/game with the 2's & 3's usually coming in after the 1st possession of the 2nd half. I'll post some info on the D-line in a few days when I get back
  20. ObamaRocks91 ... that sets my mind as ease. However that could change at any time as he was driving a nice full size SUV here in Katy and his folks may drive it up and leave it for him when they come for their 1st game. So, I would appreciate it if you would keep checking with your "good authority" and monitor the situation. And in the event you are informed that he is in fact driving a vehicle, see if you can have someone give him some tips on driving in the snow and ice. That would help me rest easy knowing he has gotten some good instruction and less likely to be in an accident and possibly sustain an injury.
  21. Adam Taylor as I said back in Dec is a team first player. Part of the reason he chose to go to Nebraska is to be part of a winning team. From what I know about this young man he will always do what is best for the team. A rare character trait these days in sports. It is like what the Katy head coach Gary Joseph tells all the parents of the incoming freshman players at their first parent meeting before school starts each fall. "If your son wants to be a super star and set records, Katy may not be the place for him because here at Katy we are all about wining Championships." Many of the parents new to the Katy area are taken back by that statement. But it produces a winning attitude as well as a winning tradition. I would love to see Adam play this year, but if it is the best thing for the team long term, then I'll gladly wait a year to watch him play for the Huskers and respect his decision. You guys are fortunate to have one of the finest to come from Katy is a while. I'll predict right now that Adam will be the next great power back you all have been waiting for. Katy tees-it-up Thur. 8-29-2013 @ 7:00pm (central time) at Reliant Stadium. Here is the link to the coverage. You may get a glimpse of RB Rodney Anderson. He is coming off an injury so he may have his play time limited. The Katy "O" is usually a little sluggish for the first couple games, but the "D" will be down right nasty from the get go. Also watch for LB Jake Blomstrom ... he has the size, speed and the smarts to be a good one at the next level http://www.legacysportsnetwork.com/games/katy-vs-klein
  22. Some of ya'll having read some of my posts may have an idea about what the Katy Football Program is all about Here are a couple videos about the program that fosters players and molds them into players like Adam Taylor. And tell your recruiters it wouldn't hurt to make a social call and let Coach Joseph know how Adam is doing up there ... he would love to hear about Adam. The Huskers have opened the door to one of the finest HS football programs in the country ... with a little effort they can build it into a pipeline. One video talks about how Katy is getting ready for another State run with comments from Coach Joseph and some of the players. The other video is an interview with Rodney Anderson about the coaching http://www.csnhouston.com/high-school/katy-football-ready-another-state-run
  23. Warrior10 ... thanks for the info on Adam. I'll pass it along to the Katy folks. And yeah, here it comes again. Get him some tips on how to drive in the snoe and ice ... LOL
  24. Warrior10 ... could you elaborate on what/how Beck eliminated those concerns about pass pro relative to Adam.
  25. Decked ... you are right ... maybe even 5 times. Kind of getting to be like a joke er something. But it can also be serious and dangerous when you put someone who has never driven in snow and ice on the road. I've seen it and it is very cringeworthy.
