  1. Hayden is a good one. Huskers never had a chance. Still here guys. You are not going to get much from the nations top ranked football program. Just waiting to see how long you will put up with Mike Riley.
  2. This is a little off topic, but I'llpost it up anyway and get ready for the beat down ... again. Last year I posted a video of a Jr High player that was about to enroll at Katy. I was rudly accused of "pimping him out" ... but I was trying to give you guys a heads-up on him. He was brought up to varsity and put on the field when featured RB Kyle Porter (committed to u. of Texas ... yuck) was injured and out for 5 games. Here is how that turned out. A freshman and he already has offers from Tennessee, Florida and Arkansas Deondrick also plays wide-out and QB and most likely fits the Mike Riley template for a RB. Another heads up ... we have another RB the runs a 4.26 40 yd. Timed electronically at the US Army combine in San Antonio last year. Didn't get to play last year ... was a transfer and had to sit out a year and play JV
  3. Riley said he would like to see what Taylor can do at RB since he is finally healthy. So, has Taylor been getting been getting many meaningful carries this spring?
  4. Incorrect. He tore his ACL one time and came back the next year and set the all-time scoring record at Katy that next year which set the 5A Texas single season scoring record. He was also the State Championship game MVP. LSU did not pull the scholarship offer ... Adam elected to accept the Husker offer over LSU. Also not saying he could win the Heisman at any school. Just saying he has done everything the Huskers have asked of him so why not give him opportinity to succeed. He was also the 2013 Scout Team offensive MVP
  5. Go back and see how many carries he got in last spring practice ... then how many carries did he get in pre-season practice ... did he get any?
  6. All I'm saying is give Adam the opportunity to be successful carrying the rock. So far Riley has not done that. Adam has done everything he has been asked to do. Ask some of the starters on defense about Adam ... they had to face him when Adam was on scout team. WOW ... that would take too much common sense.
  7. Some of us thought Taylor would be the next great Husker running back. Never happened. I sure would like to see him get some carries, and see what he can do. Some of us thought Taylor would be the next great Husker running back. Never happened. I sure would like to see him get some carries, and see what he can do. Good GAWD, Riley give Taylor a chance and some meaningfull touches in spring ball ... he might just surprise you. He is big enough, strong enough, fast enough, doesn't hesitate in hitting the hole, doesn't go down like a wet kleenex, and certainly doesn't have any quit in him, has stayed loyal to the Husker Nation, was the 2013 Scout Team Offensive Player of the Year. What else does a player have to do to get an opportunity to carry the rock . He may not fit your template you would like to have as a RB in your pass happy west coast offense you want to have ... but that is talent being wasted. Kind of like clock management ... find a way to make it work for you. Don't let Nebraska be the place where talent goes to die. And Adam can pass pro with the best of them. By the way ... anyone know how much Adam is bench pressing lately??? Anyone know???
  8. Corey also just received an offer from Texas A & M
  9. Corey Bethley Also just got offers from UTSA and Illinois
  10. He is a good one. He was a big part of one of the most dominant defensive performances in Texas State Championship games ever. If you want to watch him and the rest of the Katy Defense dominate a Lake Travis team that was putting up 50 points/game avg. Watch the game. You will notice another DE names Michael Matus ... soph ... he is going to also be a good one. Corey Bethley is #7 http://www.katytrain.com/index.php?p=/discussion/1905/katy-vs-lake-travis-full-game#latest Scroll up to the top of the page
  11. I'm all for bringing in a guy with Hawaiian ties! If you really want someone wirth very strong ties to the "Tongan Comminuty ... go to Uless, Texas (DFW Area) and check out the staff at Uless Trinity. That is a Texas powerhouse football program that is known for it's stour defenses and power run game. They may have a D-line coach ready for the next level. they also have a large Tongan comminity there. To get an idea google Trinity Trojans-HAKA. Trionity has produced some vicious hard hitting defensive players over the years. Uless, Texas has a very large tongan community that has produced some very solid football players over the years as well as several Championships lately
  12. Kind of odd that when he red-shirted and was on the practice squad, the staff and the starters said he was ready to play, but now he is not good enough. Davey was good enough and then he wasn't. Wilbon was good enough and played, then he wasn't good enough. Everyone was saying Taylor was a perfect fit for the Husker offense. Riley comes to town and all of a sudden he is not good enough. You can call me butt hurt or what ever you want, but things just don't add up as to why Taylor never got any meaningful touches in practice or in a game. Only thing that changed was Mike Riley came to town. The same things apply whether it is High school or college ... the difference is in college ... the players are bigger and faster. You need to come to grips with the fact Mike Riley is not the type of coach that should be coaching the Husker football team. Riley coached a team in a town where on Sunday morning 90% of the people in that town had no idea who won the game on Saturday and didn't care enough to find out.
  13. Welcome to da board. I've been wondering the same thing for some time. Adam red-shirted when the coaching staff asked and played on the practice squad and was complimented at that time by the players and staff as being ready to play and was a real load to bring down. Then the broken ankle. Then nothing and he got very few meaningful reps in pre-season practice when Riley took over. I am guessing there may have been a rehab issue with the ankle. But that seems odd with Adams rehab and return to field after he tore his ACL in high school. So, I put him getting about near zero play time on the sports med folks and the new Mike Riley coaching staff that has no appreciation for a power run offense. IMHO Mike Riley is in way over his head at Nebraska. He came in there with no intention of putting in a power run based offense. His piss-poor coaching and game mgt. skills were on full display for the 6-7 games of the season. His clock mgt. and play calling skills were about as bad as it could get. He had players who were starters last year who were good performers were now judged to be so bad that they should not be allowed to be on the field. There were players with demonstrated on field skills now riding the bench for some mysterious reason. I'm amazed the Huskers with Mike Riley in charge was able to finish the season with a few Wins. If I was Adam I'd get the hell out of there. IMHO, and it's sad to say this, but with Mike Riley as head coach, Nebraska is a place where great talent goes to die. At one time Nebraska had an open door with the possibility of building a pipeline to the nations#1 (per the final 2015 rankings of USA Today, MaxPreps, VYPE, and HSFB100) ranked HS football program in the country. That train left the station the day Mike Riley rolled into Lincoln. Mike Riley's coaching shills are so bad, I had to quit watching the last half of the season. It was hard to watch the players busting their buts to try to win a game and be in a position to win ... only to have Mike Riley sabotage their efforts by his idiotic play calling or his deaf, dumb and blind clock mgt. decisions. Mike Riley is Mike Riley and will coach like Mike Riley. Why the AD and Admin. hired him ... I have no clue ... and Riley is well on his way in destroying the Nebraska Brand of Football
  14. WOW ... I said it after the first game of the season. Mike Riley is an idiot and he doesn't have a clue. He as a coach should be capable of teaching, motivating and inspiring players ... he can't do that. He should be able to evaluate talent and put the talent where it is needed. Then adjust your offense, defense and special teams schemes to fit the talent you have. Game planning and play calling is like a bad dream. Clock mgt is non-existent. He has talent, but no idea on how to use it. He has some kind of scheme for offense and defense, but can't seem to teach it to the players. Some how players that had talent last year ... have seemed to have lost it this year and are riding the pine. Imagine how demoralized the players are after watching how this season had unfolded under the direction of Riley and Staff. On the recruiting front ... If you were a 3,4 or 5 star recruit would you even consider hitching your wagon to this program ... not a chance. No post season for the Huskers ... get ready to start airing up the basketballs and head to the losers lounge ... you are going to be there for a long time. Maybe an extended stay if Riley and staff stay on.
  15. Just WOW. Seems as if Riley & Co. are continuing to find new and creative ways to steal defeat from the jaws of victory. And it is becoming a pattern and not a one time fluke. Riley appears to not have a clue as to what it takes to win and dominate. At this point it should be obvious to all that Riley's style (scheme) of football is not working and his style of coaching is not working. The fans have lost confidence, the players have lost confidence ... the only folks who have not lost confidence are the ones who hired Riley. And they will say they have confidence in Riley only to justify their decision to hire him. Only when revenues from ticket sales and merchandising decline will they fire Riley and make a change. Remember these are the kind of people who have huge egos and would rather go down with the ship than admit they made a mistake. This is so sad ... It brings to mind that song "MacAthrur's Park". Remember... Left the cake out in the rain and it took so long to bake it ...
  16. A couple weeks ago I had the nerve to post on a RB thread that Mike Riley was an idiot and has no clue as what to do as a head coach. I would like to walk that statement back and replace it with ... Mike Riley is a master of inovation and will continue to find creative ways to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. The real sad part of this Riley experiment is there is a ton of talent on this team but Riley has no clue as how evaluate or utilize it. The players on the roster have to be completely demoralized at this point knowing that it does not matter how hard they work or how well they perform there is no way they will be able to escape the losers lounge as long as Riley and Company are running the show. And on the recruiting front Nebraska in becoming known as the place where great talent goes to die. I'm not saying this to be able to say I told you so, but because the brand of football I loved so much thru the years has gone away, hopefully not forever ... that is up to the Nebraska Athletic Dept leadership. Riley is not the caliber for the Huskers. I think everyone knows it , Riley has proved it. The sooner they get rid of him the better ... hopefully the powers that be have already put together a search committee. A mid-season change is a painful thing to have to do, but my gawd the tradition is worth fighting for and the pain will fade as the tradition is restored. Hoping Riley will change his ways is not a good bet as he has been like this for over 20-30 years. No easy solution on the horizon but the Husker Nation has the resources to turn things around ... I just hope the powers that be are committed to doing what needs to be done.
  17. It's really odd: Davie had talent last year ... this year not so much .................... Adam Taylor showed great promise working with the practice squad, breaks an ankle, healed and this year ... no talent. these guys have talent. Coaches jobs are to teach, inspire and motivate. If Wilbon needs work on pass pro ... coach him up & get him back on the field If Davie needs to adapt to the new scheme ... don't trash the guy ... coach him up pat him on the back & get him back on the field If Adam Taylor's ankle hasn't healed up right ... get him to the sports med guys & rahab and get him back on the field. A lot of talent right there doing nothing. The coaches need to find a way to get these guys to be productive. Players can get demoralized when trying to adapt to a totally new system ... coaches can not let that happen. We all know it's big boy football ... but there is always the human element that needs to be motivated and inspired to allow the talent to shine thru.
  18. Hey, guys, Sorry about maybe being overly critical of the coaching staff, but I'm just pissed and disappointed by the way the game turned out. And I would like to see the Huskers build some depth in the trenches. I don't like the idea of playing the starting 5 every play the whole game just to give them the experience. The injuries seem to happen when a player is fatigued. Down the stretch of the season is where the depth in the O-line will be critical. They do need experience, but more important , you need to keep them healthy. I do like this Wilbon guy ... follows his blocks well. But I also would have liked to see Adam get a carry or 2.
  19. I think your mommie needs to put your binkie back in your mouth and you should go nighty nite, this is big boy football talk. I' not pissed at ya'll even though some of you are pissed at me for stating the obvious. When you say you are coaching by committee it ususally means who ever in charge does not have a clue. And Radar if this is "big boy football talk" why do you have your panties all in a bunch over what I posted. Sounds like radar is the one that' pissed and this is just the first game.
  20. Man, you've been a lot of fun to have around and provide insight on Adam and the Katy program, but do you not think that the coaches know better than you do? The tone of your post(s) seems to be that you're sure the coaches think they know about Adam, but if they knew what you knew, they would see him more truly, and that seems kind of silly to me. I'm sure they have a better grasp of him as a player right now than any of us do, especially since we haven't seen him play the last two years, and we haven't seen how he responded from his injury. These guys are successful, paid professionals. You're a guy on the internet linking film of 8th graders, and I'm a guy on the internet giving you grief for it. I'm still very high on Adam as well, in large part to your input through his recruiting process and since, but it doesn't look like he's ready to be a gamechanger yet. After watching the game this weekend, I really question whether these paid professionals know what they are doing. They knew the Hail Mary was coming and even called a time out to prepare for it and it was an epic fail. Then maybe my eyes are failing but was that Adam Taylor #28 who downed a punt? Ya, I don't think Riley knows what he is doing and he most likely has not seen that video. If he knew what he was doing Adam Taylor would be carrying the rock instead of downing punts and Nebraska would be 1-0 to start the year. And when the O-line falls apart because the back-ups have no game experience or chemistry with the starters ... it won't matter who is carrying the rock ... they are going to get stuffed every carry. All for the sake of saying the O-line needs to prepared to play the whole game if necessary and they needed that experience. Riley got lucky with his experiment ... what would you think if a couple of the O-line got injured when they were a little fatigued. And this RB by committee just proves he doesn't know what to do. Just watch a political figure who is asked about an issue he knows nothing about ... he/she will say the issue is important, so much so, that they support appointing a committee to figure it out. That's because they have no clue as what to do. Gonna be a long season and could get real ugly. The beginning of ugly was on full display this weekend.
  21. I googled Mike Riley ... and it popped up idiot. And maybe I heard it wrong or saw it wrong, but was that #28 Adam Taylor who downed a punt. OMG and some folks here think Riley and staff know what they are doing. For me, I hope Nebraska loses every game till they play Adam Taylor at I-back. No excuses here. Riley knew the Hail Mary was coming and even called a time-out to prepare for it ... EPIC FAIL. Ya'll need to start looking for a replacement. Have a feeling it is going to be an ugly year. Keep playing the starting 5 O-linemen every play the whole game every game ... morale with the 2's & 3's will drop to where they lose interest ... then you lose the battle in the trenches when a couple starters go out with an injury. It is a death spiral coaching philosophy. By the way ... for the Husker faithfull ... you don't even want to read the comments about Nebraska on the Katy Tiger Board. No biggie because, hey, it's only a high school and what do they know. And that may be true, but it has also been one of the nations most dominant HS football programs for the last 2 decades
  22. It will be a long season with the chances of the starting 5 on the O-line being healthy all season is nill. The sooner you start to build depth... the sooner the back-ups can build a chemistry with the starting 5. Things happen during the season and if you don't have a plan B ... you're toast
  23. xlbder ... if you turn out to be right ... I'll get ya a jug of good old "Texas Brown Water". Don't laugh, it's good stuff. After you try it, you might want to be one ot their spoespersons too.
  24. I'm not saying that he should be handed anything or that one should not compete for a position. What I'm thinking but not said directly is maybe after red shirting for the benefit of the team and then missing another year with an injury possible Adam is a little down mentally and could possibly need some inspiration and encouragement. I'm not saying if the coaching staff has or has not been doing this ... and I understand these are all big boys and they need to earn their stripes. Also we know many great coaches who have been able to do things to motivate and bring out the best in their players in ways other than just saying ... hey, you're a big boy ... if you want to play you have to earn it, so get out there and earn it. I don't know anthing about Riley's coaching style. I also know coaches at big time college football programs can't start jumping thru hoops every time a player stubbs their toe. All I know from watching him over come adversity with his mental toughness and his focus on physical conditioning, he has always been able to rise to the top. I'm hoping he will do this with the Huskers. All this being said after reading in a previous post that Adam seemed a little down or off during a recent practice.
