  1. blessed 2bahusker ... Rodney has already gotten some offers and will probablly be getting more. I'm sure they know who he is and they already have an open door to Coach Josephs office ... just hope they take advantqage of it. I understand he is getting bigger, stronger and faster ... now weighing in at over 200lb and 6'-1". He is only going to be a junior this next year ... and we are expecting him to do a lot of damage this coming year. I would expect the coaches are not going to have him returning punts and kicks this year as he will be too valuable as a RB and receiver. If you could see his Dad and his uncle(who currently plays in the NFL) you would know you have a monster in the making. Just imagine having back to back running backs like Adam and Rodney. Maybe ya'll should set up an recruiting office down the street from Katy High ... there is some affordable office space right down the street ... would pay for itself by saving a ton on travel expenses.
  2. blessed2bahusker ... thanks for the info ... we're sure gonna miss him here in Katy.
  3. Here is some of the talent the Huskers might want to take a good look at. Especially Jake Blomstrom at LB ... he has all the qualities you would want in a solid LB. Then there is Rodney Anderson ... and with 2 years of separation between him and Adam Taylor, I don't think you will have a problem relative to one former team mate taking play time from the other. Wilkerson is another that has a ton of potential and he is still growing. By the way ... has any one heard if Adam Taylor is coming up for the summer to get settled in early and start using your new training facilities. I haven't heard anything about it down here, but after following him, he seems like the type of player that wants to be as ready as he can. http://www.ktrainstation.net/forum/index.php?p=/discussion/720/who-will-we-have-on-the-roster-this-year#Item_24

  5. I started a thread on the Katy message board asking for info on players that could make it to the next level and have a desire to do so. So far 8 of our players have offers to go to the next level and I'm sure there will be more getting offers. There are 2 big TEs, a DE and a LB that are real impact players that will get a lot of attention. This is the link to the thread. Things are a little slow this time of year so it might take some time to build enough info for you. Or you may sign in and make a post or 2 letting them know who you are and ask for more info on some of the players already listed in the thread. Never too early to get a head start. www.ktrainstation.net/forum/index.php?p=/discussion/720/who-will-we-have-on-the-roster-this-year#Item_3
  6. NU-Bo ... Nebraska has some things going for them relative to the Katy Program that could help recruit Katy players: - They play in RED. - They play in front of a full house/standing room only. - They run an offense that is very similar to what Katy runs. - Support for the football program runs deep in Lincoln as it does in Katy. - The football program has a proven tradition of excellence as at Katy. Ya'll have a lot going for you as far as recruiting from Katy. You just need to convince the recruiting staff to spend some time with Coach Joseph. Then, as I know you will, make sure you treat Adam like family when he gets there, help him get decked out with some good cold weather gear along with some pointers on how to drive in the snow and ice. I'm sure Adam will be talking to Rodney after he gets there, so a report of a smoothe transition to the next level would help "grease the wheels". Being a long time Husker fan ... I'd love to see some of our Katy players take it to Nebraska.
  7. NU-Bo ... I could be completely wrong on this, so maybe you should get your recruiters down here for a visit. Rodney is already getting offers, so if you think he is a good fit for the program, you don't want to be late. By the time he is a senior, I would look for him to be about 6'-2" & 220lb. A good power back with a lot of finess and quickness. The Husker Coaching Staff has opened the door to the Katy Program, so get them to use it. They will find there is also some quality talent on the defensive side they may want to talk to Coach Joseph about. Keep in mind that the Katy Coaching staff has a long history of not promoting players to the next level. However, they are cordial and will talk to college coaches and give an honest accessment of players. So, it may be time for a social call.
  8. I guess it goes back to the coaching philosophy and principles at Katy. They have remained unchanged for over 30 yrs. Promises made ... promises kept by the players and the coaches. At the college level the promoses made by one coaching staff are generally forgotten when there is a change in the Head Coaching position. When Adam was a JR he suffered a torn ACL early in the first game of the season. Shortly there after Univ Illinois offered him a full ride with no exceptions ... he never even considered the offer as there was a Katy RB named Donovonn Young already there on a scholly. Donovonn held a lot of the scoring and rushing records that Adam broke last year. Maybe I'm reading more into it than there is. It may be due to the loyalty of one player to the others in not wanting to do something that may diminish anothers chances of success at the next level.
  9. NU-Bo ... Because that is the culture at Katy and not so much at other schools, especially at the next level.
  10. Here is Rodney Anderson's Soph season highlights. He played his first game as starting RB before attending his first class as a freshman. The first 2 times he touched the ball, he put it in the endzone. Going into his JR year he is 6'-0" & 200lbs. Two more years in the Katy Program and he will be hell on wheels. Just not sure he would like going to a place where he would be competing against his old friend and former teammate. Tremendous balance, vision and foot work. Works hard, team first attitude, no trash talk ... a very quiet and polite young man. Stats to date: (fresh & soph) 42 TD's Yards per reception ... 18+ yds Yards per carry ........ 9 yds Also returned several punts for TD's last year Rodney Anderson's 2012 highlights http://www.hudl.com/athlete/610777/#highlights/21752397
  11. I'll check to see if I can find some video on him. Since he is just finishing his soph year, I doubt he has put together a highlight film yet. I'll get a hold of "the grind" and see what he might have or know if Rodney is working on a highlight video. Evidently enough people have taken notice to the point to where Texas A & M has given him an offer. And A & M is pretty stingy with their offers to the point where you have to be a blue chip prospect to even get in the door. Rodney will be the featured back in the Katy offense next year ... just as Adam was last year. With the O-line move-ups from JV, who played the whole game in the championship win, I feel the battle in the trenches will be won and Rodney will be racking up some huge numbers. I think you will see Katy ranked at the top of the national polls again next year. Also don't forget about inside LB Jake Blomstrom. He is already fielding a lot of interest. If you give him an offer like you did for Adam, you just might find yourselves another top notch recruit. It also helps because he and Adam are friends and not have to compete for the same position for play time. Funny thing is that just after Adam tore his ACL, the Univ. Illinois gave him a standing offer, not even knowing if he would ever play again. My understanding was Adam did not consider the offer because he would be competing with former Katy RB Donovon Young who was already there and playing. As EZ-E said ... It would be nice to build a pipeline to the Katy Program. Well here is your chance to get started. So start digging and get your recruiters to start paying attention. We have talent here every year.
  12. Ya'll need to have your recruiters give Coach Joseph a call about Rodney Anderson (will be a junior next season). Heard Texas A & M and several others have already given him offers. Very gifted player with natural football instincts. Very versatile at RB, Wide receiver, slot receiver, punt returns and kick-off returns. Two more years in the Katy Program and he will be a hoss. Only RB at Katy, in my memory, to start as a freshman. On his first 2 touches, he put both in the endzone. Kid can score from any place on the field. Good speed, great vision, great balance, quick feet. Comes from a good family, he's coachable, team first player, good grades, works hard, quiet, humble and all around good kid. He's gonna light up the score board for someone and we will watch Adam's records fall at Katy. His freshman year and running behind Adam Taylor (soph yr.) I think he scored 30-35 TDs
  13. RedDenver ... you are4 probablly very close on your accessment on Taylor's play time as a frosh. We here in Katy are patient. We will watch and wait. When his number is called, I'm sure he will be ready
  14. Here is some more Katy football with Adam Taylor. Keep an eye on RB/receiver/kick returns #26 Rodney Anderson. With Adam Taylor post game interview With Adam Taylor post game interview. During the dead time zone, I find myself re-visiting game highlights to gwet a football fix to help me make thru to August and keep me from falling into a deep depression.
  15. First time I saw Adam run the ball was his soph year. If I remember correctly it was off left tackle. The thing I'll always remember was his ability to accelerate to full speed before he got to the LOS on that first play. I knew right then he was something special. He will be a force to be reckoned with in your power sweep with the way he can accelerate on the edge. The defense can be in perfect position, but with the way he accelerates he will be past the pursuit and leave them wondering what happened. This kid is so much fun to watch. I hope he can get some good play time next year. You know the TV audience for the Husker games will grow next year as many of the Katy Nation will be watching as we always follow our players where ever they go. Just makes me feel good to know Adam will be playing at Nebraska as he always has in front of a full house in RED. EZ-E ... ya'll need to start talking to Jake Blomstron LB. Should not be difficult to get him up there as he and Adam are friends. Start building the pipeline. And then in a couple years you will have a shot at Rodney Anderson who is now a soph. He has natural football talent and instinct @ punt and kick returns, RB and wide receiver. The kid is a natural and with 2 more years in the Katy program I would not be surprised to see Adams records start falling. I know it's a little early on Rodney but won't hurt to get your foot in the door early.
  16. Sounds like you have a good bit of experience coming back. Adam is good at the power sweep and not bad up the middle. Just need to let the O-linemen know to keep moving with their blocks or Adam will run over them. Did that several time in the Championship Game. I understans Adam is still working about 4 hr a day with his trainers to get ready for the next level I'm excited for Adam and can't wait to see him playing in red in Lincoln with a packed house. By the way he is still working he will be ready when he gets there. All ya'll have to do is get him lined up with some cold weather gear and give him some pointers on how to drive in the snow. the rest will take care of itself. Thanks for the run down on the O-line. This is going to be fun to watch.
  17. I was just wondering how the O-line is looking for next year. At Katy Adam had some great trench warfare players even in the state championship game when they had to start a 3rd string center and 2 JV players that had never player a single down on varsity. We all know the war is won in the trenches. We were talking about the stats that Adam put up in that game ... 30 carries/ 275 yds/ 5 TDs and concluded that if the starting offensive line was healthy he probablly would not have put up those incredible stats as he would have been pulled after the first offensive series in the 2nd half with Katy up by 30 pts. I still re-visit the Adam Taylor v Cedar Hill vdieo to get my weekly football fix http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NP_zQYt9o2w Your thoughts on next years O-line would be appreciated. Thanks.
  18. It is official. Here are the pics for signing day at Katy High School. You will have to scroll down to see Adam with his Mom and Dad and of course wearing some Husker Spirit gear. And you know he has the potential to become another AP with his work ethic and the support of the "Husker Nation" ... you never know. http://www.ktrainstation.net/forum/index.php?p=/discussion/563/pics-from-katys-national-signing-day-event Bye for now, but will be checking in from time to time and please drop into our message board to let us know how things are going.
  19. Well, huskers, congrats, you have one of our all-time very best. He is one of 6 Katy players that signed to play at the next level. Take care of him and treat him well and the door to one of the nations great high school football dynasties will remain open. We would appreciate it if ya'll would drop into our message board from time to time and let us know how Adam is doing. We will surely miss him, but it is comforting to know he is going to a good school with a long stand reputation of having an excellent football tradition. http://www.ktrainstation.net/forum/ Here is our message board link ... ya'll come see us any time you cam ... you are always welcome. See ya The Candyman
  20. Here is that link again. For some reason it didn't open. http://www.katyisd.org/communications/News/092-13%20Coach%20OTY.aspx
  21. 1,339 posts Joined: 02-November 11 Posted Today, 12:52 PM Brian Christopherson ‏@HuskerExtraBC It probably doesn't surprise you that the football coach at Adam Taylor's Katy High School in Texas has his own secretary. #Huskers ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ He needs one, he is a very busy man. He is also the Athletic Director there. They also have 2 freshman teams, 2 sophmore teams, and a JV team along with the varsity. We take our football very seriously here in Katy, just like ya'll do in Lincoln. And just recently he was named National High Coach of the Year. He has a lot of responsibilities ... like making sure Adam gets healthy and stays healthy. Making sure we have a full staff of trainers and 2 MDs on the sidelines for every game. He could probablly use 3 secretaries if the rest of the coaching wasn't there to do a lot of the admin stuff. http://www.katyisd.org/communications/News/092-13 Coach OTY.aspx If you are not serius about football you wouldn't have 7 state Championship trophies or have the team be designated the team of the decade 2 decades in a row (1990-1999 & 2000-2010) by sports writers in Texas. Not trying to lash out at ya. But the guy works his butt off 80+ hours a week (maybe more) and has been doing it for over 30yrs here at Katy High School. He walks the walk and is greatly under paid for what he has done for our Katy Football Community. He has been offered positions at the next level many times and has always turned them down with a smile because for him it is not about the money ... it all about the kids. If only every school could be so blessed to have a coach like Gary Joseph.
  22. mabrown310 ... If you are loking for nick names for taylor and Newby, why don't you try ... THUNDER AND LIGHTENING
  23. Get off the tracks ... there's a train coming. Notice when they refurbished this locomotive they used the right colors and put some tiger like stripes on it. Union Pacific is bringing "The Katy" to Katy for a photo-op with the team. They need to get a pic of Adam standing on the front of it, that would be very cool.
  24. In a post game interview this last season, a reporter asked Adam about some people comparing him to Adrian Peterson. His response was ... "I work hard, but I'm no Adrian Peterson". I think he was sandbagging a little. He just keeps getting better and better. I'm happy to see him taking his talent and work ethic to the next level, but I'll certainly miss watching him truck opposing d-backs on Friday nights at Rhodes Stadium. I know he will do us proud and light up the scoreboard for the Husker Nation.
  25. Here is the semi-final game. Watch early 1st quarter and you will see the Matt Dimon play. Oklahoma is getting a real good one, but like I heard, he may not be all that solid with his decision. If you have any schollies left, it would be worth a shot. Big, strong, smart, durable (played both ways as a Jr @ TE & DE), has a motor that doesn't quit. Hey, and I would bet he and Adam would love to play on the same team at the next level ... they are good friends. KATY v CIBOLO STEELE_STATE SEMI_FINAL 2012 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NW2kg5nFpFk If you watch closely you will see Cibolo Steelem players executing planned and illegal chop blocks along with facemasking our D-linemen. This is the game we lost 2 starting O-linemen and on the same play late in the game.
