  1. EZ_E I'm sure Coach J and coach Pelini have spoken by phone here lately, so I imagine the Door to Katy is open for ya'll and will remain that way so long as Adam is given opportinities to prove his worth. I understand that Adam and his folks went and were impressed by the way they were welcomed. I think I'll be watching Adam play in red maybe not this rear but the next. So with a little humor and no disrespect intended, as far as Adam Taylor is concerned you can stick a fork in him he's done. Also heard he is telling other schools to stop calling and sending him stuff ... his Mom is tired of hauling all the stuff in from the mail box and having to go thru all of it to sort out their real mail. Film night for the Championship game will be on Jan. 7tgh at 7:00. All the Katy coaches will be there ... they go over the game play by play and all are welcome. If you have someone in the area that is close to your program you might ask them to go by and listen in, but tell them to wear something gereric red so as not to throw a spotlight on Adam. I as one member of the Katy Nation is glad to know Adam will be part of the Husker Nation. You will see me pop up from time to time if there is some news you may have an interest in. I've enjoyed reading the posts on this board and have it marked on my computer as a favorite. We are all just pleased that Adam has found a place at a great school with a rich history. Ya'll take care and I'll be tuning in.
  2. Sir Alexander Henery If you want to be flashy and add a little show-boating, you won't be spending any time between the hash marks ... you will be on the sidelines keeping the bench warm. It may run counter to the current culture, But at Katy you are taught to work hard, practice hard, play hard and to the whistle. It is drilled into the players that they represent the school and the community and they are to act respectfully to all ... especially their parents
  3. Here is a short clip of Rodney Anderson. Keep in mind that this kid is only maybe 15 and hasn't finished his first week in high school and all of a sudden he is on the field playing for one of Texas greatest football programs.
  4. EZ_E If you want to see a star in the making ... keep an eye on Soph Rodney Anderson. When Adam went down early in the first game last season with the ACL, They brought Rodney in, a freshman as starting RB. I can't remember when a freshman ever started at RB for Katy. First 2 times he touched the ball he put it in the endzone. He is dangerous as a kick return guy and has taken several to the house this year. He is also a good receiver and if you can put him in space he's gone. He has natural football instincts. If you could see his father and his uncle(who plays in the NFL) you will know this kid will be a hoss. Ya'll missed out on Matt Dimon DE 6'4"-250lb. He is a beast and can blow up plays before they get started. If you watched the video of the Katy v Cibolo Steele game ... you would see him rush the QB, tip the ball up and catch it and take it to the house. It was funny watching the Steele QB trying to tackle him ... he just kind of swatted him down like a fly. He committed to OU and they are tickled pink. But you never know, might just throw an offer to him and see. I know he loves playing with Adam. We have a couple LB's that are JR's that will be good ones next year. You might google Rodney Anderson to see if anyone has posted any highlight videos of him. By the time Rodney is a senior his numbers could rival Taylor's. Remember his name you will see it in lights some day. He is a very quiet and humble kid with a lot of talent. The Katy offense will be built around him next year The coaches here won't try to influence the players choice as where to play, but they will give you all the info they have along with an honest accessment. You never know how helpful Coach J will be in helping you spot talent. Keep faith with the one you have and you never know how wide the doors may open. Coach J keeps track of the players, talks to them and when they can make it back to Katy for a game they are always invited down on the sidelines and sometimes they are in the locker room giving the guys a pep talk at half time. Another Katy player you may have heard of is Micheal Stokjvic. He led Eastern Washington to the national championship in their division. Also led Katy to another State Championship in 2007.
  5. EZ_E Coach J is very easy to talk to and will take time for about anyone who wants to learn more about Katy. After seeing this video you will know what I mean. Had the camera crew not been there, I would guess Coach J would have much rather taken a baseball bat up the side of this guys head http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3FnqOrrwxN0
  6. EZ_E ... I would doubt Coach Joseph has your coaches number on speed dial or for that matter any other major DIV I coaches number on speed dial. traditionally the Katy coaching staff stays away from promoting their players. They are friendly and will talk to any coach that would call and want some info on any specific player. If the UN would stop by and make a social call on Coach J (that's what we call him) I would imagine Coach J would take some time and make them feel welcome and show them around. For just being a high school program I would think your coaching staff would be very impressed by what we have at Katy. From the weight training facilities to the amount of space they allocate to football. We actually have what some folks refer to as a campus which also includes livestock and a rodeo arena. If some of you die hard Huskers want to have a hoot you should go to Google Earth and key in 6331 Highway Blvd in Katy, TX. You can zoom in and just look at how many football practice fields we have. We take our football very seriously down here. We as boosters here in Katy have to pony up a lot of money that the school district doesn't provide for things like rebuilding the pads more often. Most teams in the district only play 10-11 games in a season while Katy seems to be playing 14,15,16 games a season and also because the Katy players hit harder and more often. If DIV I coaches would take some time they would find out that Katy really is a football factory ... only the coaches have never promoted the players. We have 2 fr. teams, 2 soph teams, JV and varsity and about 500 kids in the program That was really a sin for them to down grade Adam. However by the end of the State Championship game, those folks were eating a ton of crow as he was named the games MVP
  7. EZ_E ... Watch the second half of the Cibolo Steele game. Adam is a very serious young man. He was benching 395lbs last spring. That is almost twice his weight ... that takes a serious work ethic. It also takes a tremendous effort and a lot of dedication to come off an ACL and perform the way he did this year. This kid is driven to be the best he can because he feels he owes it to his team mates. If the Katy Football Program does anything it builds character and team first attitude in all the players. If a player does not have those attributes you most likely not see him playing under the "Friday Night Lights" for Katy. If you have ever seen any of Coach Josephs interviews you will be able to tell he is all about the kids and building character so they may become more productive people after they leave.
  8. Here is the video of Katy's semi-final game against Cibolo Steele. I know it's a lot of time to watch the whole game. So, if you want to see some hard running from Adam Taylor you might fast forward to the second half. That is where Katy's qb broke his leg on the opening drive of the 2nd half and 2 O-linemen went out with injuries. The play book was severly limited offensively to Taylor left, right and up the middle. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NW2kg5nFpFk In this game, again, Taylor physically pulled the Katy Tigers across the finish line to put them in the Championship game. This kid is just so much fun to watch. We will surely miss him here at Katy, but I'm sure the Huskers can find a place to put his talent and power to good use. This kid can absolutely deliver when his number is called.
  9. Here is a highlight video of Katy v La Porte in this years quarter-final game. This is the team that beat Katy last year in the play-offs. I have a question for you Huskers. Do these videos of Katy not remind you of your Huskers with the style of play, the uniforms and the shots of the fans in the stadium decked out in solid red. Of course our Rhodes Stadium is not as big in that it only holds +/- 15,000. We would prefer Adam continue playing in front of the "Red Sea" so we can all tune in on Saturdays and watch him play at the next level. This would be some what like watching Andy Dalton playing QB for the Cincinati Bengals ... as a Bengal is a Tiger. Dalton played for Katy and did not get much interest from the major college recruiting folks except TCU decided to take a chance with him ... and guess what ... he ended up playing his freshman year. You may remember him from a couple years ago when he lead TCU to a Rose Bowl victory over Wisconsin. All these Katy players are drilled with discipline and solid fundamentals from the time they are playing JR High football and some before in the Pee Wee leagues
  10. Seems liike a bunch of good football folks on this board. As I come across more video and interviews ... I will post thwem so you can get a real good idea of the quality person you are getting and it just so happens he is one hell of a football player. Got to run take my meds, feeling kind of drained today. Came back from the game in Cowboy Stadium with a cold and had to drive thru a blizzard. Rough few days, but well worth it for the "Red Sea" or Katy Nation which ever you prefer. I think the attendance was about 48,000 for the Championship game. Like the Husker Nation Katy travels well. Only problem is the first responders have to draw straws to see who has to stay and miss the game. In Katy it truely is ... Last one out needs to turn out the lights. Enjoy the board ... I'll be checking in and posting info as I have time.
  11. Big Red Fan ... I believe that was made 2 yrs ago. Both seasons we had I loss and both times it was in the State Qtr Finals. Here is an interview with Adan following the 2nd game of this season against the Woodloands who were ranked in the top 20 in Texas.
  12. Sorry, didn't mean to tell the Husker Nation how to act at a football game. They have been doing it for decades. It is just that every year you get some "newbies" and asometimes it takes a few games till they learn. I'll be checking the Katy board for EZ-E's posts. Keep faith with this young man and he will do you proud.
  13. I am on and registered, just having an issue seeing where I can start a new topic!!!! haha If you are on the page where is says on a brown back ground, close to the top of the page: Katy Tigers 5A DIV II State Champions Congratulations Tigers! You are on the right page. Just go to white box at top right with text "Start a new Discussion" Click and start typing. If you show respect and genuine interest in Adam Taylor ... you will get burried with info. They are great football people but very protective of our "Boys in Red". Let them know you are glad he is coming (Adam Reads The Board Too, but generally doesn't post). His parents also read the board. Be neighborly ... offer to help him unload when he gets there, be sure you help him find the best places to get cold weather gear and what kind to get and not burn money. He is a serious student, his parents are both professional folks and serious people too. Adam is all about academics, hard work, discipline, faith and trust in his coaches and team mates. He likes to play in front of a packed house. He likes it when the band roars when your opponent has the ball in a 3rd and long. The Husker community needs to know when to get loud and when to get quiet. Here in Katy we refer to it as a community effort. We get there early, stay late (the team will come to the sidelines and acknowledge the crowd at the end of every game ... win, lose or draw) and stay loud
  14. __________________________________________________________________________________________________ We have some old friends live across the street from the Taylors and the lady is one of the counselors at Katy HS. I don't like to be nosey ... but , hey it's a small town. I haven't heard anything about the UT offer. Some one usually posts that type of info on the Katy message board. As a matter of fact if you want to know for sure you could register and ask the question. There are a bunch of Katy Supporters would love to hear from you and what you think about "TD" Taylor. Let them know you are geniunly interested to know more about this incredible player and you will be surprised how fast the people in the "know" will respond. I've never heard any of the people in the "Know" even mention the possibility of UT being considered. My opinion of the UT offer is that they are one of these "Johnny come lately's" and only started talking to him after it was very clear his ACL would not be an issue. LSU only gave him a weak conditional offer with a lot of back doors. There are quite a few Husker Alums in this area and after a few calls from them decided this Taylor kid was worth a chance. Nebraska didn't pu&&y-foot around, they just came straight out and gave him a straight-up, no back door deal. I think Adam had a lot of respect for that and made a committment. http://www.ktrainstation.net/forum/ Here is the link to the Katy Message board. Get on the Katy Board ... there are a lot of good football people on there and are very pleased with Adam's choice because it is all about "red". They believe there is power in red. Then there are the great memories of running out of the "I" formation and power smash face football. That is what Katy has been doing for the last 20 years or more. Drop-in and say hello ... good football people there. And I wouldn't mention anything about UT football ... very few Longhorn lovers there except one poster named "eltigre". We put up with him and pray for him to mend his ways ... daily.
  15. Once Adam Taylor makes a committment he becomes very focused. This young man was totally focused on rehabing the torn ACL becuase he felt he owed it to his team mates. Then in the last 2 games of Katy's Championship Season he literally carried the team on his back because he had to. QB had a broken leg, the O-line was wiped out with 3 starters and 2 back-ups out. Opponents smelling blood knowing we could only run mostly between the tackles and very few sweeps due to QB not being mobile. Playing at the highest level of Taxas HS Football ... when it was for all the marbles ... 2 games ... 70 carries ... 500 yds rushing ... 8 maybe 9 TD's ... WOW. You just take care of him and treat him with respect and he will carry the Huskers too. Learn a little about the "Katy Nation" and talk to him about it ... it will make him feel more at home. Just google Katy Tiger Football and start reading, you will be glad you did. For some additional info about "all things Katy football" you can check out our message board @ www.ktrainstation.net
  16. Katy is a simple small town and only 3 things happen here: - We grow rice - Shoot birds (ducks and geese that fly into the rice fields. - And play football. I'm a long time Husker fan and just loved the power run game of the 80's. The big O-line winning the battle in the trenches and a stable of running backs pounding the opponents into submission. If you like smash face football you are gonna love Adam Taylor
  17. I don't know if any of you Husker fans know anything about Katy, TX or the football traditions we have here. This short video will give you an idea about out culture. We are a small comminuty about 40 miles west of Houston and as you will see the skyline of Katy is dominated by the grain elevators along the railroad. If you watch closely you will see out trophy case which is formatible by any standard. And any time you want to talk football ... just go have breakfast at Snappys. He also post the latest newspaper articles in the windows of his restaurant. And yes he allows you to smoke if you want. Katy has made 12 trips to the State Championship game and won it 7 times. It is a tradition here and our motto is "WHEN EXCELLENCE BECOMES A TRADITION, GREATNESS HAS NO LIMITS". Every year Coach Joseph has a meeting with all the incoming freshmen parents. And every year he tells them the same thing. "If your son wants to be a super star this may not be the best place for him. A super star sets records and wins awards ... here at Katy we win Championships"
  18. I'm new here on this board. Just wanted to let you know how lucky you are. Adam "touchdown" Taylor suffered a sever ACL in the 1st half of the first game of his junior year. From what I know about him, he has been relentless in his rehab efforts and last spring at the "Katy Annual Liftathon" benched 395lb in front of about 5,000 Katy fans. He has spent every available moment in our weight training facility which is comparqable to many DIV I universities. LSU would only give him a conditional scholarship offer ... they are the big loser here as they did not follow and do their due dillegence withthis kid. As far as his stats ... he is 6'-2" & 215lb. This year he has gained over 2700 yds/scored 44 TD's and just flat run over, around and thru countless defenders that were dumb enuf to stand between him and the endzone. He has absolutely shattered all Katy HS single season rushing and scoring records. Now his stats have to be tempered by the fact that his rushing opportunities were limited by the coaches during the 1st half of the season to make sure his ACL was healing properly. Also in most games the starters only played the opening possession of the 2nd half as the coaching staff want to build depth for the play-offs (6 games to the championship) and for next year. His stats would have been off the charts if he had been able to play all 4 qtrs thru the season. The only games he played all 4 quarters were the State Semi-finals ... 40 carries & 230yds and the State Championship where he had 30 carries & 275yds and 5 TD's. Adam plays with a lot of heart and plays to the whistle every play. http://www.youtube.com/user/HuskerHistorian This video is titled Adam Taylos v Cedar Hill. If any of you have any doubts relative to his speed , agility, vision or durablilty they should be put to rest after you watch this video. He believes in the team aspect of the game and when interviewed gives credit to the "HAWGS" (O-line) and the downfield blocking of the receivers and other RB's. This is one great kid and is unselfish to a fault. He will do great things for your program and all I ask of you is that you take good care of him and get together with him when he gets there and help him pick out some good cold weather gear as I know it gets a little chilly up there. By the way he loves red. I'll be lurking in here from time to time to follow Adam Taylors progress. So, when you have any info about him please post it here Adam has deceptive speed, agility, likes to run down hill and punish people. He as some great spin moves
