Not sure I said that AM deserved to be higher than McSorley, I am just saying in comparison McSorleys numbers overall arent that good.

You are reaching pretty far if you are going to "fumbles lost" when talking about a QB. I get the overall turnover stat, but again seems like a stretch when comparing the whole resume.

Still say Blough had a better year.

Reaching? Are you saying fumbles lost don't count because he is a QB? If you were talking about Tanner Lee, I would agree. But, the QB running game is a big part of the Nebraska offense and of Martinez's success at his position. I don't see how that is irrelevant. It is actually really ironic the amount of criticism another QB named Martinez got for fumbling at Nebraska, and now, I am accused of "reaching" when I bring it up.

McSorley was not the second best QB in the Big Ten or necessarily better than Martinez. What I am saying is being the #1 or #2 in fumbling is something you have to recognize when evaluating AM's performance on the season.

Trace McSorley's numbers really werent that great.

Overall in the B1G Mcsorley matched up like this(out of 14)

    Finished 8th in QB rating(Martinez-4th)

    11th in completion percentage(AM-5th)

    8th in yards(AM-6th)

    7th in yards per attempt(AM-4)

    7th in TD's

Going just by numbers, David Blough probably deserved to be higher.

You are missing critical stats that are likely holding Martinez back. AM has 12 total fumbles, which is #2 in the nation behind the QB from GT. AM is T-1st nationally for # of lost fumbles with 6.

McSorley has less than 3 or fewer total fumbles (sorry the site I am looking at only lists players with 4 or more).

Martinez was the most productive freshman in the nation this year, but with the number of TO (8 INT, 6 lost fumbles), ball security was an issue.

  3. Without having watched any of these interviews yet, I hope that every senior to the man is saying how important beating Iowa is this year. Not just because it is their final game, which it obviously is, but because, like Wisconsin, these players have yet to hold a win over Iowa. Add to the fact that those three losses were in epic fashion and that the Iowa head coach and program circle this game every year. As a competitor, that has to get your juices flowing.

Add also that the state of Iowa was laughing at you for the first half of the season. Won't it be great to walk in there and let them know how things are?

This missed call did get me riled.  Would have set us up nicely with a first down and goal instead of a fg attempt.  Oh well.  Things worked out for us.  Still bs!

Hindsight’s 20/20 but Oz looked pretty open. Is that called a diamond formation? I think Riley used it often

First, Oz was open. However, with that play, the read would have been before the snap. Martinez sees 1-on-1 coverage against Stanley. He is probably coached to make that throw every time. Imagine if the read was after the snap, with how short the field is, no way he would ever have time to read both left and right, and the passing windows would be closed.

  5. The Blackshirts are ball aware...great to see.

The Huskers can run against the #1 run defense when they need to to win a game.

Nebraska can win a textbook Big Ten-style game.

Martinez played an intelligent game. He threw a lot of balls away. Made his stats look bad but let Nebraska win the game.

  6. I did my doctoral work at Florida State. I would never wish living in Tallahassee upon anyone. They don't call it "Talla-nasty" for nothing. Here's a quick pro's and con's list.

    Pro:

    1. I could go for a run in shorts and a t-shirt any time of the year. It hit freezing a few times (everyone lost their s#!t by the way).

    2. Campus had some interesting historical figures recognizing the Seminole tribe that gave the land to the state for the university

    3. Southern Live Oak trees with Spanish moss. Driving down a narrow road with that as a canopy was really awesome

    4. Wildlife was great. Very different for a Nebraska boy.

    5. Great fishing

    6. ...not sure what to put here

    Cons:

    1. Humidity near 100% all year round

    2. Year-round mosquitoes. Multiple species of mosquitoes that have their own peak breeding season throughout the year.

    3. Humidity + mosquitoes in the summer. It was too damn hot that you wanted to sit outside but you had to move around outside or you were eaten alive by droves of mosquitoes.

    4. The food was terrible. I have lived many places in the US, and it is easy to say that sans four restaurants (Osaka's, Decent Pizza, Aladdin's, and Whataburger), the food was crap. I remember driving through Missouri back to Nebraska and ate at a Burger King. I realized then that the crap they pass as beef in restaurants in Tallahassee was so terrible words can't describe. And, I am telling you I thought that burger was from heaven (a burger from BK).

    5. No wind. The tall cypress and pine trees cut the coastal winds so the humid air just sat on you stagnant.

    6. No palm trees...except at the airport (planted to trick tourists that they are in Florida not southern Georgia)

    7. 3 hours+ to white sand beaches. Yes, you are 30 minutes from the coast in Tallahassee if you want to stand in the mud. Three hours to Jacksonville, Pensacola, or St. George's

    8. When I first moved there, I was told "in Florida the further north you go the further south you are". The panhandle area is southern Georgia not the white sand beaches of Miami-Dade. And, you have a lot of thinly veiled racism. It's depressing to be around.

    9. 3 bars a block apart for college students and they are disgusting. No other nightlife (well house parties and the like)

    10. Small city, crappy traffic. Tallahassee is way smaller than Lincoln, but as the state capital with two major universities (FSU and FAMU) all downtown with only three main roads out of the downtown area to take you North, East, or Southwest, traffic sucked. I lived in DC, so no it was not that bad. But for a small city, traffic is way worse than it should be. City planning fail.

    11. No zoos or interesting attractions. Really boring honestly.

    12. Gun crime is really bad around the campus area.

    13. You were living with c$%kroaches. Every place had them. No getting around it.

I have been called "liberal" for years, despite asking people who call me that to stop. I take offense to that as much as people take offense to being lumped in with racists.  Are we going to punish people who call others "liberal" or "libs" as well?

Knapplc, you know the mod review process as well as any. I am not saying anything about a punishment, just that any post reported will be reviewed. If the post is determined to violate board rules, then action is warranted.

Again, let's continue this conversation in another thread (if you wish) as to not derail this one.

Good distinction STP. Unless a member is implying or directly stating that being a Trump supporter means someone is racist/homophobic without exception.

and would post suggesting how evil libs are be equally good examples?   :)

Yes, this would be a parallel issue. Something if directed at a particular member or used in the definitive.

Let me add that I do not want to derail the current conversation in this thread, so if further discussion of board rules is desired, let's make a thread for it.

Great thanks.  You might become my new best friend. So would posts suggesting Trump supporters are racists or homophobic or anything of that nature be a good example as well?

Report any post you feel compelled to along with a what you perceive as the violation of board rules. The mod team will review all cases submitted. The political forum is only a small part of Huskerboard, so we appreciate member feedback when it is provided.

Hey that's fair...do I contact you when I have such comments directed at me too?  I have been called racist and other things in here before since I support Trump.  Just want to ensure this is being applied consistently.

Absolutely. If you find yourself or another HB member is the target of insults, feel free to bring those posts to the attention of the mod team. In fact, I was just going to post this post below as something that is insulting (though not necessary directed at any one person).

You are delusional. The economic results and positive outcomes being set now are a direct result of Trumps pro-growth policies. Stop pretending that this is a result of Obamas actions as he did not cut the corporate tax rate and he added to regulations and did not reduce them.  You can continue to make up stories to make yourself feel good...you certainly have a right to do that!

Political debate can occur without insults. This is a reminder to direct comments about the post not the poster.

I assume that much like a lot of his generation, he is in love with with himself. Coming a year removed out of high school where everybody he met wanted to lick his boots probably helped this, not to mention the amount of spazz some of the fans in this state throw at these kids. This can create a general sense of delusion.

Generation talk is really annoying. In fact, your argument is "kids these days are so full of themselves that they don't know when to quit because of how hard the competition is". Really?

I love these guys. I heard Safari Song a few months ago on the 89.7 here in Omaha, and almost drove into the ditch thinking it was a new LZ song. They're starting to form their own sound a bit more on their full record, which should help dispel the anti-LZ crowd.

If there is an anti-LZ crowd, those are people you don't want to associate yourself with. :D
