    VIDEO: 2015 Rivals100 DE Adam McLean talks top 5 w/ @rivalsmike including #Nebraska: ($) http://t.co/ohLRm3BtRS #Huskers

Anyone want to fill us in?

He just talks about who he likes now which includes us, Michigan State, Penn State, Auburn, Florida State.

says he likes us because we have previous players who played at his high school, like Marcus Newby, J Ankrah, and JP.

  2. this kid is fast. wow he would bring some speed to our return teams. It would be nice to land this kid so we can start to build relationships with the coaches down there. Louisiana is a very talented state for skill players.

  3. Collins is a beast. He is always making good things happen when he's in there. and to think we get 3 or so more years with him. We saw great production out of him as a true freshman. our Dline is going to be very hard to block next year, with him VV, Clinkscales, Curry and others on the inside probably being double teamed leaving our ends 1 on 1, which not many people can block Gregory 1 on 1. success on defense starts up front by getting pressure.

  4. In this pic from the bowl practice it really looks like Newby has added some muscle. He is standing by 220 King Frazier.

I was really impressed with how tough Newby ran this year. With an entire off season to get stronger and get more comfortable with the offense, he could really be a force next year.

I agree, I thought he ran very tough for his size, he didn't seem to shy away from contact. I thought he was going to have more of a break out season but never the less he will spend another year lifting and getting stronger. I'm excited for this team going forward.

  5. seems like during our limited plays in this formation we do a PA pass and one of the RBs out of the back field is open on the wheel or the TE is running down the middle of the field on a streak. I would definitely love to see more of this formation.

Not to nit-pick but I'm pretty sure there isn't a TE on the field when we run this. We have hit the WRs on streaks a couple times. The WRs pretty much run flys and the first RB run a wheel route. I don't remember anything else.

Yes my bad, you're right. Regardless, we should run this formation more often IMO.

  6. Others have said it, but I really see Gregory as a hybird LB at the next level.... It almost seems to be where he is the most effective during the last 3-4 games. A lot of his pressure on QBs comes from when he is standing and roaming ..... ala Jarvis Jones

I've noticed this too. He stands up and basically lines up as a LB and delays after the snap to find the right place to attack. I love how the coaches have let him do this. He is an athletic freak for sure, and would love to add at least one or two like him every recruiting class.

  7. We are going to need him and just about every player at corner to step up for next year. I hope we get that JUCO DB, Kweshi Brown. I keep hearing Boaz Joseph was doing well on scout team, he is another big bodied corner that is physical and athletic but very raw.

Corner is one of the most underrated and difficult positions on the field, outside of QB. You are left out on an island guarding some of the best athletes and you don't know what they are running and on top of that you're not allowed to even touch the WR. If our corner play ins't up to par next year we will need to keep a safety over the top, which keeps another player out of the box to stop the run. Our defense has some serious potential next year, we just need a few corners to step up to be very good.

  8. been hearing their secondary is very young and not very disciplined. hopefully after we establish our run game we can get our PA pass game going and test their young secondary. I think TA will have a huge game, and by huge I mean 200 yards in the air with 2 TDs and around 75 rushing and 1TD and no turnovers. It will be nice to see him healthy and I hope Beck can call a good game.

  9. thats too bad my team decided to only score 57 points two weeks ago, and I scored 130 this past week but I still lost by 30. If i would have won I would be in the championship. I was the highest scoring team in the regular season... guess theres always next year for the Gronk A Donks.

  10. If Abdullah left who would be the starting RB? I would say Cross but he just doesn't really fit our spread type offense.

I'm still really excited to see Adam Taylor on the field. His high school highlights are pretty special. And I have to think a year of experience for Newby is going to do wonders also. Both of them look like they could be quite cabable replacements for Ameer.

I agree, he seems balanced between being Ameer and Imani. He is a bigger back but also has more speed than you would think.

  11. I think Leroy could be a good person to look at moving to nickel. Singleton could get a shot a safety. Leroy covers well and he likes to come downhill and hit. The nickel position has me the most worried about next year. Everywhere else we should be solid, but this is a very important position on the defense. Brown and Keys could immediately compete for starting spots at CB or at the least provide solid depth. That would give us 6 CB's in the rotation: CJ, Davie, Rose, Joseph, and 2 JUCO's.

Alexander might be a nice fit at Nickel but I wouldn't move him there. Our safety play has been mediocre at best the last three years so I don't think moving a young guy who shows really good promise out of the position is the way to go. Sounds like the coaches are hoping Cockrell can fill the Nickel spot and I think Gerry would do well there too - he basically played the same responsibilities as our Dime back this year.

Having a good nickel is one of the most important positions on the defense because other teams try to create matchup problems its tough having the right size to cover TE and speed to cover slot receivers. I would rather them keep building depth by taking JUCOs then being short corners. Having 2 cover corners like Prince and Dennard is a huge because we are able to blitz and bring a safety up in the box to stop the run.
