  1. I'd agree w/ you on the RBs, and with the exception of this year Bo has a stellar track record of developing NFL caliber CBs. We should be able to recruit those two positions with little effort. I'd also throw in Bo's evaluation/recruitment of JUCO players. If you look back at our top players over the last 5 years most of the big names were JUCO transfers. Very few of them didn't end up starters, with most being stars.

I think our biggest weakness in the last few years has been roster management. Oversigning 3-4 guys a year brings in an entire extra recruiting class every 5 years. Undersigning be 3-4 a year has an equally negative impact. We see it when we play top teams.

SJB not an NFL caliber CB?

Last one I had to edit. I will never post on zanny ever again. stuff knocked me on my butt

fixing the last two. SBJ is NFL all the way

    Sweet posts bro

Yeah I have been editing them right now. I took a full zanny bar and had know clue what i was writing. . Zanny posting is worse than drunk posting for sure. I made know sense

  4. I learned that Purdue is the worst offense we've played. With the exception of Enunwa our receiver's talents have been greatly exaggerated. None of our qb's are great and Stanton has as good a shot of starting next year as anyone. Newby seems to be getting worse the longer he's here. Our linebackers are pretty good and should get better with experience. Gregory is a monster and always seems to be in on the big plays. Abdullah must be a cross-country runner because he doesn't appear to ever tire. Frazier looks like a potentially great back. Long is a great o-lineman and it sucks that he got injured in a scrimmage like this. Even at our best we may not be better than Northwestern, Ohio State, Wisconsin , or Michigan State.

You sir are delusional if you really believe this. You really think Bell's talents are exaggerated? So Turner dropped a pass that would been a touchdown, Irving Fryer dropped a touchdown pass in the 1984 Orange Bowl, it happens. Westercamp is starting to come on, and they have said all along from practice reports he has the best hand on team. Then their is athletic freak Alonzo Moore, who will be getting more chances . Guess you are the type that if a couple of guys don't play as well as the normally do, you go all negative nancy and say they suck. Could be the best receiving corps in the country. Top 10 for sure

And more delusional thinking. That was by far Newbys best game

  5. I think there's no way we wind up ahead of Missouri but I've been wrong before.

SEC? Road win against the #7 team? That team is the ever almighty-C Georgia? Missour will be in the top 15. Mark it.

Not so fast my friend. Georgia is a hurting team, their offense is absolutely decimated with injuries . here are the starters that have accounted for 11 of their 25 touchdowns that are out with injuries . Justin Scott Wesley, Keith Marshall, Michael Benne, Malcom Mitchell and Todd Gurley. They literally pulled guys off the scout team to start this week.

  6. Man a lot of people were talking smack about my boy Ameer, no I don't really know him..lol. I know Several of you were saying these things back in March or May. He has proven the doubters wrong for sure. He bulked up to 200 pounds and was lifter of the year and pound pound the strongest guy on the team. Has fumbled less. Showing break away speed by busting one for 35 or 40 yard last week, and showed excellent field vision. Very good team leader and give all the credit to the O-line and our awesome blocking WR's. Love the guy

  7. I totally agree with your assessment of what makes a good coach.

I have always said that Larry Bird would make a better coach (and did) than Michael Jordan ever could dream of. Why? because it came so natural to MJ that he would have a very hard time teaching it to other, less talented, players. Counter that with Bird and all the stories I have read about what made him so good was all his tireless work in the gym because it wasn't as easy for him.

I think the same thing can be said about how Ganz relates to QBs. He was good. But, he wasn't this 5 star player who came out of HS and rolled right in and succeeded at the next level. He worked his azz off and right up until the first game he started, most Husker fans thought he would never amount to anything. He can now take that experience and relate to every QB in the system.

Now...as far as Bo's system. I have no idea. The big question to me is.....how much more difficult is his system than what is being ran at other top programs. If the answer is "not much" then it isn't the difficulty of the system that is the problem. Now, if other very successful programs (on defense) have a much more simple scheme and let's the athlete play, then it's something that needs to be considered.

I agree with this.....except the Jordan comment. No one was a bigger gym rat than MJ.

Yeah Jordan worked out really hard, and put on good quality muscle mass over the course of his career, but he was right , no one could touch Bird when it came to extra workouts he did on his own. He would show up to the arena 3 or 4 hours early and shoot hundreds and hundreds of baskets. Then he would run stadium stairs. If any other player in league had done that, they would not have made it past the 1st quarter of the game. Just insane

  8. Those LB's are so young....pups....we have the opportunity to be very, very good on defense in the very near future. Gonna have some growing pains, no doubt.

Nope , no growing pains. I'm tired of the youth excuse. No excuses anymore, other big name schools have freshman playing at a very high level. It comes down to coaching, and of course freakish athletic ability, which we have all over the place with the young guns we have right now

yep.. what the hell I meant he is a NFL caliber CB. Writing on a message board after taking a zanny bar = bad idea

  12. Agreed ^^^ I don't get tfree32"s comment on the leadership thing at all. Also don't agree with T-Mart only being accurate on passes of less than 10 yards. I don't like his turnover problem, which has been much better this year, and his lack of scrambling ability with pressure, because he does have lateral speed too, which no one say he does. That play against Wisky the the Big 10 Championship play proves that. Reminded me me of the play Crouch pulled off against Missouri which sealed the Heisman for him. I will take a healthy TM over TA for this season, but I think TA has will become the better QB than TM.

But I agree with other poster's TA will have competition from Johnny Tebow next season

  13. I think Bell was trying to defuse the situation.

and pap was not having it. his feelings were too hurt by then.

the poor players are like kids whose parents are going through a divorce.

It was nothing, Bell bumped pap and pap taped bell back in the chest. nothing to see. it's just people wanting to make something out of nothing.

I don't think so. I think Bell went over and bumped JP as if to say, you all right coach. A bummed out looking JP gave him a little forearm bump back. JP facial expressions told it all

  14. What about this center from Oklahoma. Did Oklahoma not want him anymore after he committed , or did he really not want to play there? I havent seen any film of him, but he just doesn't look like a big time athlete. Not because he is white either, just looks like an average joe from his pic. Anyone seen any film on him?

  15. I think the difference is people saying it's all over now vs. if he plays well for a couple more games.

If Taylor was ready to go now, he'd be the starter. He's earned it. It hasn't been given - earned. However, if his injury lingers and TA plays well for the next two games, you begin to wonder. If he still isn't able to go by the Minnesota game and Armstrong is still playing at a high level, you then have to wonder about changing things up right as you get into the really big games down the stretch.

But there are an untold number of ifs in that scenario. The biggest of which are how the team does, how soon Martinez gets healthy and how TA plays. After a couple more games, we'll know a lot more about a lot of those things.

Well when Frazier was out Brooke came in and played awesome, and still played when Tommie came back. he got us on the board in the Orange bowl. I could see TA getting into games when TM struggles and we need a spark.

  16. I honestly think if TMart isn't healthy that Kellogg gives us a great shot to win the game. All we really need is a guy to get the football to our play-makers. Kellogg might be able to start at Wisconsin ;)

Really? Does he kind of remind you of a poor man's Russell Wilson or something. They are kind of built in a similar fashion .

  17. I guess the questions that beg to be asked are: What level of prior dishonesty is considered permissible for a potential Nebraska coaching hire? At what point are we willing to look the other way in our pursuit for success? Help me out here, because isn't that what I'm reading?

Well stated. Tressel and Petrino should get no consideration whatsoever.

They both did bad things, and IMHO, Petrino's was worse. I have the utmost distaste for people that cheat on their significant others, or selfishly hurt their families in the name of a young woman/man and a good time. That said, they've both paid their price and deserve a shot somewhere, and I wouldn't be up in arms if that place turned out to be Nebraska.

And junior, I definitely agree there are more lucrative locations for a coach than Nebraska. We all know that. We've got quite a few disadvantages. But, I do take solace in the fact that we could pay him just about whatever he wanted. And I'd still put Nebraska at a Top 15 job in the country. But, I don't think you can make a potential coach's desire to leave a significant factor in your hiring process, unless it's blatantly obvious he's looking to jump somewhere. Why? Look at Saban. Alabama fans are slowly becoming terrified that he may bolt for the blemished portion of his career - the NFL. While it's important to take into consideration a person's long term goals, I think you take that risk with just about any hire.

Off the top of my head, the only jobs I don't think you would ever bail out on are USC, Alabama, LSU or Texas. But, I could even see someone bailing Alabama/LSU in favor of Texas.

MY mom worked with Craig Bohls wife, and she told her that Bohl was cheating on her.

No one has mentioned John Gruden. Thats my dream coach. Has he talked about going back into caoching? He has been out a pretty long time now

  18. I predict I will cheer madly for the Huskers every game the rest of the season. We will win some games and lose some. I will make "heat of the moment" comments on here from time to time, but the outcome of the games won't appreciably effect my life in any manner. Even if we lose the rest of the games this year, I will still be a fan of Nebraska Football.

To not totally cop out on the topic, I am guessing we go 8 -4 or possibly 7 -5 as our young bucks learn the ropes and as our coaches continue to get coached during the games.

    Go Big Red

Good point. I really let this stupid game effect me to the point that I'm almost in a real state of depression. I'm addicted to Husker football. I follow these boards ,and recruiting every single day of my life. I scream at the t.v to the point where the poor dogs are freaked out. It's really pathetic. It's just a stupid game, and I have more important things to worry about. Thank you for help me put into perspective

  19. Agree, that's why I really think bringing in new blood that is proven is the best option. Oh and in my biggest dreams, Narduzzi!!!!

Narduzzi is a great coach, I'll give you that and I wouldn't complain for a second if we could snag him from MSU...but w/ him we'd be going head-head with Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, and those other schools that pick the Ohio/Michigan recruiting grounds apart. That's where all of Narduzzi's connections are, and we're already covered there fairly well already. I'd leaning towards someone with a strong footprint in Florida, TX, or Cali.

Understand that, but I would MUCH rather have a great coach over a recruiter with better ties in FL, TX, and Cali. I actually think we have good connections in TX but just completely under recruit it paying too much attention to the entire U.S. Also, having great connections in Michigan/Ohio/Pennsylvania areas is always good as we will always have a better chance to get these kids to come to Nebraska being we are in B1G and kids parents will be able to see them play easily and the kids understand the culture of the North and weather.

Well we have gotten at least one player a year for the last 15 years from Cali. Can't remember when we haven't had one from texas for a long time either. Last year we got 3 from Fl , which is the most in one year we ever gotten .
