  1. I'm going to have to agree with you on this...I rewatched the game this morning and found the same...it wasn't near as bad as it seemed when I was watching last night. No, dont tell me, it was worse? Oh, the horror, the hoooorrrroooorrrr!!!
  2. These types of statements are just as useless as the ones you are complaining about. If you check most of the "negative nancy" posters, you'll notice they've been apart of this site for quite awhile. But I'm sure you're a much better fan because you are satisified with a sub par performance again... Some fans are content to drive at Know what I'm saying? It's a common faction in corn nation, perhaps the majority. Sunshine pumping, koolaid drinking, rainbow gazing, unicorn riding, santa claus bolievin', milk drinking, delusionary thinking, uh....well, I dont wanna start a fight here, haha.
  3. Yea, Bo has proven with a large sample size to date that he has no clue how to defend the wide open spread offenses of the new millenium. Is this serious or sarcastic? serious Please explain. IN 2009 and 2010 Bo was THE most innovative coach in the country in defending the types of offenses we played last night. I see a lot of folks complaining about the scheme. Do you even know what the scheme is? Do you even know what it takes to defend these offenses as a player in Bo's system? It takes a heavy amount of experience and film study. It's about knowing tendancies and concepts. Those defenses in 2009 and 2010 knew the opposing offenses as well as they did. Go back and watch the Missouri and oklahoma games of 2009 and '10. Watch the 2009 Big 12 Champ game. Do not pay attention to Suh or the pressure on the qb. pay attention to the DBs and their alignments and watch the routes ran. The defenders knew what routes were coming based on the alignment they were giving the O. This gave them the ability to anticipate with great success. We didnt have that last night. We always had a young guy just one step behind. I was encouraged by the speed on D, but I'm holding back judgement for when we play teams this defense is now built to defend. We're not necessarily all in to defend Wyoming style of offense anymore. I tend to have the concept, no, the actual observationthat spread offenses with mobile QBS and shifty RBs put up circus like numbers on Bofense. '09 we had Suh, uh, that helped a bit, plus the overall D was much better than one we have now, for whatever reason. Does anyone here feel all warm and fuzzy when Shoelace or Brax or Geno Smith or Brett Smith is on the other side of the ball from our D--you know, a mobile guy? Those guys scare the crap outta me when it comes to Bofense, whereas a guy like Maxwell(Sparty), a guy that sits in the pocket poses no threat, usually, to our D. I dunno it's pretty self evident to me.
  4. Wouldn't surprise me t'all if that happened. Also, WTF were they doing putting Gregory @ LB last night, what was that all about? He was, like, running with receivers.
  5. Do you know this for a fact, or are you just guessing? He's speculating. How do you set up to pass or take a snap under center with one arm? If he fractured his collarbone he wouldn't have been out there since he wouldn't have been able to lift his arm (unless it was hairline)...separated shoulder...again they would have had to reset it before he could move it. Didn't see Taylor playing with one arm. I knew a drummer once who lost an arm in a car accident. Taught himself how to play drums almost just as good with the one arm after that. True story.
  6. You really think this was about the score? Wyoming could have quit when we got up a few scores in the second half...what did they do? They kept fighting. They outplayed us in terms of execution. We just have the athletes to overcome that. There's no excuse for the lack of execution that Bo Pelini's teams show year after year. How many big plays did we have to give up on defense. Honestly I don't know why I'm arguing with you,. On the flip side...it's the same old sh#t with sunshine pumpers burrying their heads in the sand and calling a win a win...the same thing that I'm afraid our headcoach is starting to do. good post 'freak', I ttly agree.
  7. Yea, Bo has proven with a large sample size to date that he has no clue how to defend the wide open spread offenses of the new millenium. Is this serious or sarcastic? serious. and, any QB with even a modicum of mobility gives Bofense fits.
  8. So your saying that the players this year are not anymore talented then they were last year because of the yards they allowed? Kinda doesnt matter if they are giving up the same amounts of yards, does it? The proof is in the pudding, talent or no talent.
  9. Yea, Bo has proven with a large sample size to date that he has no clue how to defend the wide open spread offenses of the new millenium.
  10. You are implying talent is more important than experience? Did you see the Ohio State or Alabama game? Ohio State replaced one offensive lineman and Buffalo bullied him. Khalil Mack and co. were all over Miller at one point and would've been down a field goal if not for a penalty called on a turnover. Alabama won 35-10 but if you watched it it was not a decisive win. They replaced most of they defense and their offensive line and from a team in VT where most picked them to get blown out in a rebuilding year they actually out gained 'Bama. Not to mentioned Vt had 153 rushing yards while 'Bama had a measly 2.5 yard rushing average. This coming from a team that consistently gets a top 5 recruiting class from a Saban coached team that always comes to play. While I respect talent, you can't overlook experience. First game jitters, the anxiety of a new football season, whatever it may be, this isn't an isolated only 'Nebraska' thing. Dear Husker Nation- It gets better. This ^ Best post of the thread. Uh, VT and Wyo hardly make a good comparison to base one's viewpoint, if yer feelin' me here. VT's quarterback wishes he had half the talent of Brett Smith. I tend to agree with that. And Wyo wishes they had 1/2 the level players that VT does--maybe more. Smith was on fire last night, he was threading the needle better than a golldang seamstress. I doubt he plays like that week in and week out, but yea, he is good. Still, he and Wyo shouldn't have torched us like what they did last night--we're supposed to be better than that.
  11. All teams include a defensive and special teams units, that are capable of scoring. In fact, Beamer has made a living at that.

Uh, VT and Wyo hardly make a good comparison to base one's viewpoint, if yer feelin' me here. Last year 'Bama won the NC. VT went 7-6. 'Bama has an experienced QB, a great RB in Yeldon, talented WRs, and a young defense. See the similarities now? No, VT is a big league team with big league players in a big league conference. Wyo is not any of those. How do you think Bama fairs with Wyo? Me thinks they win by 35+, not 3, and they sure as heck dont give up 600+ yds.
  13. Newby looked good, he just didn't look fast. At least not Ameer fast. No, Newby is fast, faster than Ameer. He has track speed, plus has completely natural, great moves and some power. He's the real deal. At no point did i see Newby running faster than Ameer. I did not say Newby wasn't fast. Maybe its just that Newby doesn't have that initial burst of speed that Ameer does when he gets the ball. Yea, Ameer has probably at better burst, right now, but Newby has legit 4.3 speed, plus better moves. Look at his h.s. film.
  14. I thought Cross looked like the best player on the team...he looked...well...FAST. Which is a complete 180 from how he looked last year. He was making cuts on a dime...I mean did you see his run with the spin moves? It was like someone was controlling him with an Xbox controller. Not only that, he took the rock 8.1 yards every time he touched it..and Newby had more touches than he did. That's bringing back memories of RB's past if he keeps that up. Cross looked good, no doubt, and improved, but I expected that from what I saw last year--I knew he was going to be a good one. I said he's going to be better than Leveon Bell of Sparty and caught some flack for that, but it's clear is he--better. Newby's going to be ridiculous, though.

All I'm saying is that we should never and I mean never give up 600+ yds and be in a nail biter vs Wyoming. How much do we spend on football? How much does Wyoming spend on football? We should be able to beat Wyoming with our 2nd string--well, hypothetically. But, I have had to accept, this is the 'new' NE, so maybe I'm just pissin' in the wind. There's absolutely no evidence under Bo Pelini that this will "get better" as the year goes on, in fact, there's solid evidence to the contrary(see B1G CCG '12...). No I agree. 600 yards and a 3 point win isn't something you'd expect from Nebraska. I'm not justifying that we should be alright with this I'm just saying these things happen. Bo and crew will watch the tape and see what we did wrong. For a lot of these younger guys this game is going to be a learning experience more than anything. Bo and crew won't see what we did wrong. This is the 4th 600+ game is less than a year. What did we do wrong in those games? I was going to reply, "we got off the bus", but last night, well, it was a home game--no bus. 600: the new normal.

I'm saying 'these things' shouldnt happen. Whatever happened to that Nebraska team that used to come out of the gate zero to 60 in 2 seconds, guns a blazin',well oiled machine, hittin' the ground runnin' type thing, knock out the little guy by halftime, week in, week out type thing? I've been expecting more out of Bo;s teams, you know, like play like you mean it, like a good team does, from start to finish. But it's the same deal every year with this guy, and though I support him as best I can, I'm tired of the excuses. We have the talent on this team, right now, that we should have run Wyo out the ball park, but quite frankly, I think the coaching staff is, uh, "subpar" and there's reason to think it won't change much, IMO. Some coaches are just like that. Crap, Wyo will turn around next week and lose to East Bumfrack U and whatshisname world beater QB who schooled us will looked like he never played the game before. I'm "old" I've seen this movie before. I have serious doubts about Bo and the coaching staff at this point, I've been trying to hold onto my half full koolaid glass, but this sh#t isn't cutting it. Now I'm getting pissed, see what ya did? And what's making me really crazy about now is that some of the fans here keep saying we need to 'hire a good DC!!! HelloooOOO, Bo Pelini, you know, the guy that gets paid 3 mil large a year is supposed to be that guy for god's sake!!! Wow.
  18. Newby looked good, he just didn't look fast. At least not Ameer fast. No, Newby is fast, faster than Ameer. He has track speed, plus has completely natural, great moves and some power. He's the real deal.
  19. we learned that one last year... No we learned last year are defensive line was undersized and weak. I also learned that our tackling in space has NOT improved. Is our DL big? Thad Randle isnt that big. Val is the only guy that I would call big. Yea, they can't tackle in space. No dominant players on the horizon, except maybe Gregory.
  20. Uh, most predictions I saw, from fans, had us at 50+ to 20-, or so. Yea, I'd say it went alot worse than expected. I was conservative and predicted 41-20 and I now feel like somebody just stole my puppy dog... Taylor threw a pick with what, 7 minutes left? We put that in and it goes to 44-21, and Wyoming probably packs it in too at that point. So yeah, of course the last half of the fourth quarter was a complete cluster f#*k, but up until that point, Wyo was stuck on 14 througout most of and all of the 3rd quarter. I really think a lot of the concerns are being blown out of proportion. Yes, they are legit, but like Bo said, it's really not as bad as it seems. I'm rewatching it right now. It's really not. Wyoming will make a push for conference champs this year. Yea, back in '07 I rewatched some of those games and had myself convinced things weren't as bad as they seemed. I dunno, I think this is as good as it gets under Bo: inconsistent, fairly undisciplined play and underachieving. It's like being in VTech purgatory, Beamer mode, above average but herky jerky and never quite getting over the hump. Some coaches are like that.
  21. I didn't just read that. Hmmm, I gotta stop taking those crazy pills... Maybe 50 was a bit of a stretch, but you should read the rest of the quote. 6 FCS schools beat FBS schools. A top 25 team and a team that last year was a game away from playing for the NC. Last year an unranked Notre Dame team ends up playing for the NC. This is college football. You can play a team 9/10 times and lose. You just need that one time to be the first. Well, lol, yea. By the end of every season the top 5-10 teams usually separate from the pack, and Bama has been in a league of their own for some time now. Notre Dame is separating too, IMO. I agree that, especially in the MAC, more teams have gotten better, but you still see all the same historcally dominant teams at the top of the polls every year, except OR is the newbie, so I don't totally buy the parity card.
  22. On the positive side, JT and Q each had good games, especially their toe dragging, finger tip TD grabs. The Fro' is a stud. SJB looked solid. Gregory looks like he could be scary and Cross is already scary. Terrell Newby looked like the best player on the team, not sure if that's a positive, but I'm serious about that.
