If you want to avoid the well earned scrutiny, win. Shut them up

Do you at least admit that the constant negativity and criticism has the potential to harm the program? And NO potential to help at this point?

    1. Yes, but the source of the negativity is what's on the field. If he wins, it will go away.

    2. No, it has an enormous potential to help. If you replace a 6-6 coach with a big name coach who is expected to play for titles, then you are moving in the right direction. Indeed, the earlier that new coach is hired, the more likely he will land some top recruits.

It has no potential to help right now. Obviously coaches need to be held accountable and there is a time to call for firings but that time is not now because it will not result in any changes this soon.

There is scrutiny all over college football. I don't think that lowering our expectations will do the program any favors, unless, as Jason Peter says, they want to play for Illinois.

Staying supportive is not equivalent to lowering expectations.

  3. Seems like kenny got tons of hate from you guys because he didn't take the high road at every opportunity. Yet it's perfectly ok for us grown men to take the low road. Some of you seem so brittle I can't even imagine how you would handle being in his situation.

Sure he said some stupid stuff and wasn't exactly who we wanted him to be but he was a good player and and a good kid and most of all he was a husker.

Guess you hurt the ones you love most.

I am a Husker fan through and through, but I can't help but be disappointed (borderline disgusted) with this hire. We fire a coach that went 9-3 for a guy who went 5-7 this year and is barely above .500 career? It doesn't make any sense. All the talk about he didn't have the resources at OSU to be successful and blah blah blah, is just talk. When I look at this guy I don't see a future Nick Saban, Urban Meyer, Carroll, Tressel, Bielma, or big time coach. I see a guy who is not suited for being in the spotlight of a big time program.

When SE fired Pelini, I was expecting a splash hire... Mullen, Addazio, Schiano, etc., but what I feel we got is a dud. And I feel as though his recent hires only confirm my concerns. I wish him the best and will root for the team regardless, but I have a strong feeling this won't end well.

Good god. You need some facts before posting again. Schiano..a splash hire. SMH. Did you and your ESP glasses see Saban doing this good at bama since his career was a failure up till then ?? Well. Do you know where corvallis OR is ?? People think Lincoln is in the sticks, go to Corvallis. Lincoln is like buying a Toyota corolla after driving a beat up AMC pacer.

I think Saban won a National Championship and Conference Championship before going to BAMA.

I don't know Corvallis, but what I do know is that last year Riley lost, at home, to an FCS team.

He also beat the #6 team in the country. So we both had poor showings against an FCS team but one team showed up in a big game.

  5. He over commits on quite a few plays and his first step is often in the wrong direction usually because it appears he is not always focusing purely on his responsibility. We hear a lot of this talk about guys trying to do too much. He's also put in man coverage quite a bit though. That's a tough spot all game long. We need more zone and zone blitzes.

Our linebackers came crashing right into opposing blockers quite a bit. That baffles me. I mean that literally too. The opponent didn't seek us out to try to make a block, we LITERALLY ran right down into them and then became blocked out of the play. If you slow it down and watch, it actually looks really stupid, but we are doing it. I can't imagine this is how it's supposed to work.

This is something Ive noticed as well. A play that stands out was a little swing pass that FAU ran. Santos had one blocker between him and the RB and instead of trying to run around the blocker or "juke" him in any way, he ran right into him and of course didnt make a play. Anderson had the exact same opportunity at some point, but he didnt engage the blocker and was able to trip up the RB for a much shorter gain.
