Perhaps Northern Iowa and South Dakota State should be invited to the Big12

Is it bad that I really want a bowl game even with only 5 wins because it makes college football as a whole actually mean something? I am actually watching NW/Illinois and Wisconsin/Minnesota with interest, pulling hard for the wildcats and badgers.
Not at all. I'm doing the same thing. Just want a chance to see the Huskers again.
Also, a 5 win team has made a bowl before. In 2001 North Texas made the New Orleans bowl with a 5-6 record and lost to Colorado State 45-20. I only know that because I went to the game.
In the past 20 years, only three teams with losing records have received a bowl berth: Georgia Tech (2012), UCLA (2011) and North Texas (2001). That number could be exceeded this year alone.

One call does not lose a game.

Have at it. I'm not pointing that out to defend Riley. Lumping those two teams together as equals is a weak point and more of an emotional argument than a logical one.
So it's still OK to use the CalState - Sacramento loss against him?Can people stop using EWUs win over OSU as some catastrophic loss? EWU has an offense that averages almost 50 points per game against D1 teams the past 3 years. They also had a QB who was a Walter Payton runner up who is lighting it up against D1 teams as he transferred up, to go with the best freshman of the year - a guy that will leave FCS with nearly every WR record there is. No one blames KSU for losing to NDSU, and people regard Snyder as some genius.
I'm pretty sure Riley is the only P5 coach with 2 losses to FCS teams.

My YS told the family that my oldest told him to shut the **** up. At a family dinner of all places. The look on my ex-MIL's face was priceless.

I was on FB. My stepson posted " Only a fool does the same thing twice and expects different results...."

I like that the committee appears to take wins and losses pretty seriously. The two unbeaten teams are #1 and #2. All the one-loss teams are next, except Duke and East Carolina, which have five 2-loss teams ahead of them.
I think you absolutely have to value wins and losses as the first criteria.
Undefeated Marshall would like a word...Y
I mean among power-5 teams.
I'd like to see some re-alignment done so that power-5 teams are in their own division, that way teams like Marshall can compete to be a national champion among similarly situated teams.
My solution would be to give all conference champs an automatic bid and have the playoff committee determine the at large bids.

I thought after last week that perhaps Nebraska had turned a corner and was finally headed in the right direction. After today I'm not so sure.

My wife went to Dana College. She really enjoyed herself. Made some good lifelong friends. She was sad to see it go. On the other hand, she'd rather see it closed than become a diploma mill.

We bought our house in 2002. The first thing we did was paint the dining room and kitchen. The dining room was a honey mustard color and the kitchen was pea green.
Since then we have:
- Had the garbage disposal taken out
- Redid both bathrooms
- Replaced the downstairs bathroom door. Long story.....
- Had the windows on the north side, siding and roof replaced. All three were paid for by insurance company after Jun 3rd's storm.

Looks like Saturday could be a rough day. GFS is predicting a high CAPE value and very low lifted index
-
What is tomorrow looking like?
Anything that does fire up in NE would probably go nuts, but it'd have to break through the cap first. Seems unlikely at the moment unless the boundary there provides enough lift along with the heating. Funny thing is, a lot can change overnight and through the morning. But yeah, no thrilled with the storm outlook now. Probably a good thing.
Lets hope it holds. CAPE and EHI values are projected to be high, although not nearly as scary looking as Monday.

I would realize this is a toxic situation and go find myself a job as a DC. Or as a HC in CUSA ,MAC , Sun Belt or maybe in FCS, so I don't have to deal with the pressure and spotlight.
The real Pelini would probably not make any changes and dig himself a bigger grave.
-
Eichorst is shrewd like a fox.
Pelini clearly is struggling and was basically begging to be fired so he can collect his $7 million. With this, Eichorst is calling Bo's bluff and putting him right back in the fire. You can't stand the heat, Bo? Quit. Because Eichorst ain't gonna bail you out that easily.
Eichorst may well be counting on Bo doing something so insane that he can legitimately be fired for cause. The odds are pretty good.
I agree. He is becoming less and less stable.
My inlaws are waiting for him to pull a Woody Hayes

Congrats Georgia Southern

I think some fans had unrealistic expectations. I have a nephew that was convinced that the Huskers was going to waltz in and dominate the Big 10.
My thoughts for this season was: The defense that gave up 55, 63, and 70 points last year has seven new starters.

with the facilities, fan base, $, price of season tx, sell out, and one of the most valuable college franchises (for the moment) etc. ...expecting to win games you are supposed to win and being very competitive in all the rest is all this fan asks...otherwise , you can be a mid major and you get to play in 1/2 full stadiums, sub par facilities, etc...husker nation provides way too much support ($ and other) to have a football program with this many problems and lack of performance
Exactly.

It's not the number of losses that's the problem. It's getting embarrassed and losing to bottom feeders that's the problem.
Never in my life I did imagine Baylor being more relevant than Nebraska

It seems that they might as well get their HS diploma when they start kindergarten. From what I've read, in some districts children can't get F's or zeros. Never heard of such thing in my day.
