I am not sure we have any more shots at this point in time. The financials of any move are a non-starter. We are still in the middle of a $100 million hit -- RIFs and salary reductions. No way are we going to self-impose a bigger hit at this time -- and the effects are going to take years to overcome.

We probably have no shot at landing a big time coach anytime in the next few years anyway and the money thing makes it even more unrealistic. Let the Frost era fester on for another 2-3 years, but be working in a slam dunk plan after that like right now .

I Don't see stoops coming back to the college ranks until Drake is done at OU and I doubt URBs goes to another big 10 team. Those 2 always stick in my mind because they seem like the only ones capable of the type of turn around we need.

In my opinion, we need to get the hell out of the big 10. Go back to the big 12 where we belong. Close to the fan base, our recruiting wheelhouse and just for the friggin fact we don't belong in the big 10. We tried this little experiment when it looked like the big 12 was gonna fold and it's blown up in our faces, we gambled and lost...sh#t happens. It would be nice to go to an away game that was 3-4 hours away, not 12-24 driving (maybe a bit off topic but just another contributing factor to our failures)

  2. Nailed it above, Scott doesn't have the chops to be a successful P5 coach. He looks beat down and haggard at all his pressers. Looks lost, in over his head, has no idea how to fix this and just keeps repeating the same buzz word all the time: "were so close",  "I love our talent" "best practice I've seen" blah, blah, blah. It's like he's trying to convince himself. I wonder what we are so close to? Bc is sure as $h!t isn't competing for division or conference titles. Maybe we are close to executing basic fundamentals because we cant go a game with out a hand full of bad snaps, penalties or the ability to score more than about 20 some points in year 3. Totally pathetic and that's on coaching. Next hire needs to be a grand slam, we aren't going to have many more shots at this.

  3. The whole staff needs to be relieved of their duties. The scott frost era is a complete disaster. Make all the excuses you want, this is down right embarrassing at this point with no real indication things will be any different moving forward.

Don't get me wrong, I was pumped about the Frost hire at first, had several helpings of the kool-aid and I like scott, but this is a complete $h!t show. The only chance we have of being an elite program again anytime soon is by trying to throw as much money at a competent coach as they want and then some, and or try and Lure a Bob stoops, or an Urban meyer out of retirement. Enough is enough.

Here is my only concern with roster management. I think Frost and Co showed they need some growth in the roster management as it relates to the RS rule.  I know we were rarely in a spot to get guys playing time vs we have no one healthy so you are in, but some guys getting in for one snap was ridiculous......IF the staff knew AM was hurt and not able to perform, but stuck with him regardless, I think that could cause QB's to look at options.  I think it could effect culture/trust in the staff etc moving forward.  ie SF complains about wanting winners and a guy wants in, but the staff won't give him a shot or has jacked up the RS that they can't let him play....IMHO, a healthy Noah or Luke gave  us a better chance to win than a hobbled AM....IMO, AM has a shoulder injury that will require off season  surgery.  I am sure they'll try rehab and then if it doesn't work, Jan he will have surgery....

100% agree; If AM was either injured or for whatever reason lost his mojo and they stick with him to point its a detriment to the players health or to the team; that just makes no sense.

I believe it was the Iowa game where Luke comes in, provides a spark, throws a TD, starts to get us back in to game then gets shown the bench is just mind boggling to me. I believe AM came in a lead a TD drive at some point after that, but then pretty much stunk it up the rest of the game (I believe that's how it happened any way, going off the top of my head here). That was just 1 of many head scratching moments this season as it relates to personnel and play calling. I think Scott has a lot of room to grow in many aspects of being a HC but he will get thinks fixed, I have no doubt

I agree with most of what you are saying.  However, we still have the sea of red fan support (at least for now), which gives us a recruiting advantage over the other 5-7 teams of the world.  I still believe HCSF is the guy, but it's going to take a few more years.

Luke needs to be given serious consideration to start next year or at the very least keep Martinez on a very short leash.  I know the sample size is small, but Luke appears to be a faster "blinker", better passer and a better running than Martinez.  HCSF's evaluation needs to be weighted toward game performance.   A QB might look great in the green jersey Monday-Friday, but it doesn't mean much if he's not getting it done on Saturday when he's taking hits.

For sure; I dont care if we loose all the games, I will be rooting for BIG RED no matter what and the fan base is special for sure.

The best guy or the best available guy at that given time needs to be on the field at all positions, especially at QB.  We'll get er figured out, no doubt, but its just tough to watch sometimes.

Well you left out about as many facts as you included and they seem to be the positive ones.  So don't be sorry for being the turd in the punch bowl - just continue to know that you are.

You are correct. There are many positive things that were not stated and many positive things going on with the program. Unfortunately, winning football games is not 1 of them at this time. That was 1 of the main the point of the post; I thought it was quite obvious but apparently it was over your head LoL. I wont be so subtle next time.

    Sometimes the truth hurts.

It would such a significant step down for either of the McCaffrey kids.  Going from 2 of the top programs traditionally in college football to a losing program in FCS wouldn't make sense to me at all.  I get wanting to play for your father, but Luke already did that in high school.  I don't think the kids need the connection to their dad anymore.

Tradition is pretty much the only thing we are clinging to at this point, along with a little hope. I agree, most kids probably want to set out on their own away form their parents and make their own way; but The fact of the matter is:

    - we are big 10 bottom feeders in the weaker division

    - we haven't been to a bowl in the last 3 years

--we have only won 2 bowl games since 2010 (IIRC)

    - haven't won a conference championship since 99

    -no division championships since 2012

    -1 winning season since 2015

-we are basically a dumpster fire on all 3 sides of the ball at any given time

    - play calling is suspect at best on offense (especially this year)

-our coach came in with tons of hype (well deserved) and bit c$%ky and has had his A$* handed to him at every turn and blames player buy in as the root cause of loosing.

Now, you look at all that as a top level or decent recruit and think as bad as things have been, you should be able to get some early playing time and be apart of rebuilding a traditional blue blood program. When you cant play your way onto the field because coach seems determined to play another guy come hell or high water, for whatever reason....one may start looking at other options. For the record, I never said this would or will happen, I am hoping it doesn't...so just chill. I was only posting recent events connected to a potentially great player on our team.

Most husker fans unfortunately live in the past and still see us a Blue chip program when we are just not at this point. Sorry to be the turd in the punch bowl, but these are the cold hard facts. Things will eventually get better, and I know Scott is our guy, but it still looks like we have a long way to go....just sayin.

OP picked a bad day to quit drinking.

Lol...that will be a cold day in hell.

In all seriousness,  I wasn't trying to stir up crap. Just thought it is interesting that the best QB on our roster this season (in May peoples minds), who's father coached him in HS is now the HC of a college team near his home town.

I will say 100 hail Mary's and 100 our fathers for my awful topic and vow to only post about how terrible our coaches are and how they should be fired, or just rehash the same topic over and over again so maybe I can fit in here one day LoL.

  8. I would hate to see luke leave the huskers; but I suppose you couldn't blame the guy for wanting to play for his pops.

I have heard nothing to indicate this would happen, but over the last 20 years years or so, I automatically think the worst will happen.

Didn't he have off field issues that were the bigger reason for him being fired?

Pretty sure it's well known frank liked the sauce; there were also some unsubstantiated rumors floating around about inappropriate relationships but idk if that got him fired. Probably more so had to do with the fact that Steve Pederson was....i mean is a complete, incompetant  @$$ clown.

  10. Coach Solich is on the cusp of becoming the all time winningest coach in MAC history. He's got his squad playing tough against BG tonight and would clench the record with a win.

I always thought we did frank a little dirty when he left, or was shown the door to be more accurate. Glad to see he has found such success in his post Husker gig.

    Way to go coach!

  11. Look,  we all know, according to the umpteen threads currently going: the team sucks, Scott doesnt know anything, chins sucks, AM sucks, wandale is good, our Defense sucks, the O line sucks, play calling sucks, we lack effort, buy in and toughness and the season is over...we all know this.

What I want to know is, where can I get me 1 of these sweet hoodies Scott has on the 1st post of this thread. Can't find it anywhere; a staff exclusive perhaps?

I just saw narduzzis post game pressed and thinking, I remember when he was a hot coordinator, then i started thinking he looks like he's getting pretty old, then I thought I could see Nebraska doing the Nebraska thing and hiring him.

I’m prepared to be underwhelmed and that sounds just about right

Ya, I don't think I'd take a step down at this point if I was Frosty.  He's got nothing but upside where he is at and better programs will come after him.  Why settle for a team that isn't even in the Top 3 of their half of the conference?

He would be a fool to leave. if he does, I would be really pumped have him here...I just don't see it happening. All we can hope is that we finally open the piggy bank and throw an obscene amount of money at him.
