  1.

I love when the idiots come out of the woodwork calling for the AD like they have a clue about running an athletic program at a power 5 school.

It's like watching good will hunting. A janitor that knows complex math equations.

    epic

But in "Good Will Hunting," wasn't the janitor really good at complex math equations? Or maybe I'm just missing your point.

I believe he was a custodian.

  2. Here's the reality. Get ready. Riley isn't going to get fired. We are on the hook for Bo's contract and Riley's contract now. If we fire Riley we are paying 2 staffs salaries with no coach on the sideline....people with the money don't like this. There are several more attractive jobs that are coming open, or are already vacant on the CFB landscape; USC, South Carolina, and probably Miami, plus a few more I'm sure. That leaves NU pretty far on the pecking order, meaning we probably get stuck with another scrub. The truth is we probably can't afford a top flight staff at this point even if we could convince said staff to choose NU over more attractive jobs. We are just going to have to take it up the tail pipe for a few years untill we can clean up our mess. Just my 2 cents.

  3. I came to terms with the fact that this is no longer 1994 a long time ago. you would do your self favor to stop holding todays team to the standard set by one of the best squads in CFB history. just sayin....we won the friggin game on the road vs a team that beat us the last few years....baby steps my friend.

  4. by the time MR gets things running the way he wants with his system, his culture and his guys he will be pushing 70 and looking to retire; that is, if he is allowed to stay that long. then where does that leave us? on to the next coach who has a completely different system I imagine. I want to get all "Riled up" about Riley, but I just dont see this turning out well for us. I hope Im wrong, just my 2 cents and yeah I'll give him 2 years. GBR!

  5. Cycle after a loss--

(rest of) Saturday: pissed, angry, slightly depressed, how could this happen?, etc, etc

Sunday: still pissed and angry, but golfing makes it a bit better

Monday: starting to come around, but then I reflect on the game more and become pissed and angry again

    Tuesday: cooling off

Wednesday: cooling off even more and looking ahead to the next team and the challenges they bring to the table

Thursday: eh, if we do x, y, & z, we have a shot on Saturday

Friday: we could definitely win tomorrow

    Saturday: GAMEDAY BITCHES

    nicely put!

  6. When Nebraska was on top, it had a local (TO) who was head man. Throw money at all those others, and your just throwing away money. They don't care about Nebraska or its football program, but they would come here for the fringe benefits of money. If Callahan taught us anything, it should have been that. He recruited 4 and 5 star talent to Nebraska, but it was ininspired talent playing for the name on the back of the jersey, not for Nebraska. Why would any other coach ever come here for any other reason than for the money. Yeah, Richt or Kelly would win 9 games a year, but how long would they remain in place before glam job came open? Callahan and Pelini won 8 and 9 games for the most part, but didn't have the love of the program or state in order for it to ever succeed for a long lasting time. Fire Eichorst, fire Riley and bring in Trev Alberts as AD and he will bring in Scot Frost. Those two men know Nebraska Football and love the program still to this day. This would then bring in your alums that made this program what it once was. Stop with throwing money at the hot new hire like a bunch of spoiled rotten bitches and realize that this is not Alabama or Texas. Get back to what made NU football great, and that is pride in the program, and pride in the STATE of Nebraska. Thats how its been proven to be done in the past, and thats the only way it will ever get back to its ways. Devaney made it work for 9 years, but it was Osborne who sustained this program for 25 years and made it what it was, more than most will admit or realize. It was Osbornes program.

this is actually a pretty good point.

  7. I learned that it doesn't take forever to start winning games, and making an impact.

I'm sitting here watching Florida go up 26-0 on #3 Ole Miss, in game 5 of a new regime, after being pitiful the last few years.

too bad we didn't snag McElwane when he was on the market...would have been better than MR it would seem.
