  1. Big gamble to promote a GA to full time position, especially at a program like Nebraska. Tavita put together a nice list of 2017 commitments, but I don't see any of them as a "wow" type prospect; like Vince Marrow pulled when he was a GA. When healthy, Cethan definitely turned out to be a damn good TE, night and day difference under Tavita. Cotton and Foster, no different now than they were 2 years ago. Behind them, no development in 2 seasons. Obviously, we'll find out more in the spring, fall & during the 2017 season.

Is there enough to promote him? IMO, an argument can be made both ways.

  2. No, Bo had a chance for this type of offense with Watson. Since Shawn couldn't get his vision across to Pelini, with full trust and more importantly consistent results, Pelini could've very easily hired an OC with similar offensive vision and gone from there. Instead, he chose to promote, with no experience calling plays at the college level, Tim Beck as Pelini has always wanted a spread type offense for his team.

And before anyone says Bo didn't know Nebraska would be in the B1G when he promoted Beck, think again. It was announced in 2010 that Nebraska would join the B1G in 2012 and Tim Beck was promoted in 2011.

For me, it's beyond time to move on. He's had chances to hire coordinators (Pap and Beck, both with zero college experience), assistants (Raymond, Els, Joseph, Fish, Garrison, Kaz and Warren) but for some reason, the end results stay the same with some nasty and embarrassing nationally televised losses.

  3.

Going by the AP Poll since 2008, Bo Pelini teams are 9 - 16 against teams that were ranked in the Top 25 at game time.

Curious where you're pulling this from? I don't ask in confrontation, just to update what I have...

    2008, 0-3 vs top 25

    2009, 3-2 vs top 25

    2010, 2-2 vs top 25

2011, 2-3 vs top 25 (hard page doesn't show Michigan or USCe ranked, click on game and it shows) ((my mistake, didn't have them figured in up above, caught it late))

    2012, 1-3 vs top 25

    2013, 1-3 vs top 25

    2014, 0-3 vs top 25

    9-19 vs top 25

  4. The weak decade for the Big 8 was the 80s.

My comment wasn't specific to the B8, I stated, "how weak the schedule was when we were in the B8."

Excluding bowl and conference title games (1980-1989, 2005-2014)

Nebraska played 29 ranked opponents in the 80's

Nebraska played 30 ranked opponents in the last 10 seasons

Excluding bowl and conference title games

1980's, Nebraska played 113 regular season games

Last 10 years, Nebraska played 119 regular season games

    Breakdown

1980's, Nebraska played a ranked opponent every 3.89 opponents

Last 10 years, Nebraska played a ranked opponent every 3.96 opponents

The schedule in the 80's is no different than it is now. :cop:

  5. Ranked at the time of the game, or end of the season?

I only have TOG, based on rankings on schedule of huskers.com, here's what it is:

Osborne in first 7 seasons, 16-12 (7 of 12 losses were to Oklahoma)

Solich in 6 seasons, 11-14 (lost 7 straight between last 2 to end 2001 season, and all ranked teams in 2002)

Callahan in 4 seasons, 2-10 (lost last 6)

Pelini in 7 seasons, 8-18 (lost 5 of last 6)

Osborne's record is deceiving as the AP Poll, which I believe is what huskers.com uses, only had a top 20 for most of his career. I think it was 1989 when the AP expanded their poll to 25 teams.

Gotta love the people that talk smack on how weak the schedule was when we were in the B8. Weird, more ranked teams played during that time - in lesser games - compared to the vaunted days of the B12 and B1G.

  6.

There will be no coach showing up in Lincoln, or the state of Nebraska, for a meeting or interview until Pelini is let go. Period.

You really stuck it to us there. Thanks for posting the obvious. As time goes on, you'll realize that the rumorville forum is full of nothing but...us, being us, because we have nothing better to do than be.....us.

When I originally clicked on the thread link and responded, it was in the football forum. I'll pay better attention next time after initial reply.

  7. Does anybody else have a problem with coaches at the University not being able to get a meeting with him???? That is the thing that stuck out most to me. That's not acceptable as the AD at a major college!!

It is a problem, from what I understand that was first addressed during the initial six months of hire. I'm real confident in saying Tim Miles won't be too happy that Lee put that in his article.

Also, just finished reading the article and his comment about Miles' contract at the end doesn't seem accurate. I was told Miles didn't want to revamp his contract and is waiting till this season is over (2014-2015) for contract negotiations.

  8. Tough to take Lee's article serious when the second paragraph tied to the headline isn't true. Opposing teams tickets have zero impact on the sellout streak. Their tickets are assumed sold at the beginning of the season.

With that said, nothing earth shattering in this article. Right or wrong, he's blowing smoke. That's it.

  9. a lot of folks say some donor is calling the shots at HC, Howard Hawks? I hate to think that one person could have that much influence on a program with as many season ticket holders as NU, but greed never surprises me.

Hawks, Clare and Pillen put the kabosh to it last year as that is what TO wanted. The first three just happen to be elected officials too. Shortly thereafter, IIRC a couple weeks after Eichorst announced support of Bo, Clare (cough) resigned (/cough) from his involvement with the Pelini Foundation. A sh#t storm was about to hit against Clare and it's too bad people didn't go through with it even after he resigned from the Foundation.

Anyone notice Pelini hug an older gentleman before the Minnesota game right before kickoff? That guy is Tim Clare, father of Pat Clare, Husker team ortho for many years and that was his last home game (retiring).

    Connect the dots.

  10. Medical redshirt? He's only been injured one time, this year, before any games were played. Best of my knowledge, he's taking a regular redshirt this year and he will have 2 remaining seasons left to play, 2015 and 2016.

Now, if he gets injured again - and plays less than x-number of games prior to the halfway point - he would be eligible to apply for a medical redshirt or hardship. Can't remember which one though.

If he plays in the bowl game, which I have no idea why he'd want to do that, he'd have one season left and that's it. I can't imagine anyone allowing him to do such a thing.

  11. No way Ron would put the hours in required, he struggles to as an assistant as it is (see lack of recruiting as a prime example). He believes he has a higher calling in life and anyone that hires him has to understand that from the very beginning. He's not going to change.

With that said, he's one of only three assistants I wouldn't have a problem with if retained. Coach Warren for his southern awareness/in-roads and what I've heard from those at practices, Kaz for his (assuming it's used) familiarity with B1G opponents and development for a number of years and coach Brown as he's produced no matter what position he coaches.

All others, here's your pink slip, GTFO immediately. Well wait, Jamrog may be retained as well, on a tight leash or different role.
