To all those waiting on new babies to pop out: keep them in there as long as possible. My daughter showed up 8 weeks early last year and got to spend a few weeks in the NICU, and my fingernails have just started to grow back out from all the chewing I did on them. She just turned a healthy, happy 1 year old, and I've turned to pulling my hair out as opposed to chewing my fingernails.

Good to hear everything turned out okay. Wife is only a week early.

Congratulations Redux! Babies are the best!  My husband, who introduced me to Husker football in the first place, says I'm now obsessed and that I should give it a rest.  Um...No honey-ain't happening!

Btw, today could be the big day, have an appointment at ten, could have a new boy before I have a new coach. Congrads @Redux

Time actually isn’t on their side. They can’t win the bidding war. Nebraska can far outspend them. So they will inevitably lose said bidding war and have wasted time and now have no coach.

Of course this is only relevant if you believe that Frost is going to base this decision on money and an extra 10% would be the deal maker/ breaker for him. I doubt this as well

Exactly and even if they got him to stay this year (which doesn't seem likely) they'd be fighting the same war next year and the year after that. Really until Frosts stock drops or someone finally lures him away.

Not only this, but our local media has been very very quiet about mentioning any name other than Scott Frost. OWH writes an article daily about Frost, gotta think they have a hunch who the new coach is.

They did throw out that stuff about maybe going after flexbone triple option guys like the guy at Navy, or somebody did, I can't remember.

  5. First order of business is I'd make sure Senior Day went off without a hitch, I know it'd be my last day too but I/He cares a great deal about the players and it's the last game for them too.

I'd try and get the ball first, if we win the toss take the ball, if they win the toss and want the ball for some weird reason surprise on-side to start the game. Grab the game by the balls from the get go. Or at least set the tone that no f's will be given on this day.

Yeah, I'd run a few trick plays, make it a point to get all the seniors in the game for at least a play, spread throughout the game.

Another must is Stanley Morgan has to get 88 yards recieving, that and maybe the Michigan State game can be my positive on the field legacy.

I'd put in a package with DPE at QB and Spielman at RB and send Morgan on the fake fly sweep and generate the three or four or so potential plays out of that, no time to prep them on reading the DE so they would be cake plays.

I'd also ask the players if there was something they'd like to accomplish/try (aside from winning obviously) and try and accomidate it if possible, no promises.

I wouldn't go for it on 4th more than I had previously but continue with the pattern if it's 4th and inches, QB sneak, hike the ball and fall/get pushed forward. This is something I've always liked about...Myself?...and wonder why more don't do this.

On defense, I don't know what the dynamic is there, if Diaco even listens to me but if he does I'd have him load the box and make Iowa throw, but not necessarily blitz or run blitz all the time.

After the game, shake hands, try not to cry. Nah, screw it, I'd cry.

Yeah, they're freaking horrible with attendance. And they're one of those that wildly exaggerate their numbers and those inflated numbers are bad. Evil cows.

Usually I'm USF neutral but I really don't like them this year. They are kind of doing the Miami thing where they just sneak by each week. Or they let whoever hang around until they pull away in the 4th. I've been watching them since week 0 vs Colorado State, I kept getting my hopes up they'd stumble and lose (like I do each weak with Miami) but they always do the same song and dance.

Florida is a diverse state with lots of different parts. Miami and Pensacola are like different countries. Gainesville is more like Georgia than the rest of Florida. Similar to Blacksburg in how the town revolves around UF. I lived there, there is absolutely nothing else to do anywhere near Gainesville.

Tallahassee is a little different than the rest of Florida, I can't speak with much certainty about the makeup. But the two older programs have lots of older fans that show up.

Orlando is the northern border of the tropical climate. So Orlando and everything south is more what you think of with Florida and even that has a lot of difference between coastal towns and inland.

Basically, beach people don't go to games. You see that in southern California and central-south Florida. So even Miami, that has had a ton of success and a decently long history can't pay people to come to games. You see it with every school in the tropical part of Florida.

Jacksonville should be more like Gainesville, but I think its too new and they generally suck.

Just my opinion. But I've lived in Tampa, Miami and Gainesville areas and that's what I saw.

Thanks for the clarification but what about USF in Tampa? Do they have "beach people" problems to?

Maybe someone from Florida could tell me. Maybe its a location thing- but Florida Gators dont have a problem filling their stadium, or Florida State. So they have the same things to do that UCF does right? Also USC in southern Cal is in LA of all places and they average 73k at their games. So nice weather and things to do doesnt hold water why 20k show up.

Yeah, I thought about including USC and UCLA in my post. Yes I know the Swamp fills up, my wife is a fan, my father-in-law is a grad I'll have to ask them.

If Oklahoma and [Big XII School to be named] leave for greener pastures, you'll see the Big XII bring on four schools in a hurry and renegotiate rights/extend the GOR overnight.

UCF and schools like it should be playing the long game, because it's a question of when, and not if additional schools leave that s***show of a conference.

One of the things that bothers me most about their championship is it guarantees one of the most unappealing imo aspects of a CC game. A rematch. It also devalues the round-robin scheduling which one of the few things I like about the conference.

UCF is in a tough situation. They pleaded for the fans to show up to the games and show scott how much they want him to stay. The fans responded by not showing up. I have seen comments on their boards that when they play good teams they will show up or when they play a P5 school they will show up. But dont want to show up for the regular games in their conference. Its like self inflicted wounds- because regardless of who their coach is if they dont have a certain standard for stadium attendence they will never get included on a P5 expansion. So its like entitled kids. "well invite us to a P5 conference and THEN we will show you how much we will show up in droves". Thats just not how the world works.

Could this be a Florida in general problem? The Jags have been covering seats and playing a lot of games in England, the Hurricanes are pretty notorious for not having good attendance, is it any better now that they're in the playoff hunt? I don't want to look it up because I hate them. I'd be interested to know what kind of crowd USF draws in comparison to UCF, I bet it's a similar deal.

It is interesting, in a non-interesting way, that there is virtually no talk about what Tennessee is going to do.  Some Gruden talk, but that's basically never been anything.

I have no sources for this, this is just my take but Gruden is done coaching. He's like that Steelers coach before Tomlin, he'll be linked to every big job until people realize he isn't coming back. Gruden's brother maybe, but Gruden has a sweet gig on arguably the most prominent game of the week. He gets to talk football and still have a life and say "Spider 3 Y Banana" as much as he wants, do the QB corner thing, I just don't see him giving that up.

Can Frost also bring Vedral home?

Takings someone else's coaches is one thing, taking players with them makes me uneasy, plus he'd have to sit out a year and our immediate need is at QB with a bunch of pocket passers.

I know some think Gebbia could do the job but I don't think he's as fleet of foot as most do. He's a gamer so he'd give it a go I'm sure.

I looked it up and is Darlington really a Junior still? Seems like he's been hear longer than that, he might be our best open aside from grad transfers and juco guys.
