Nice article.
If a person is paying attention, there is a pretty good explanation in there as to how a career .500 coach can reasonably be expected to get the job done at Nebraska. Also between the line answers for why he brought some of the guys with him that he did and has been making adjustments ever since.
Yeah, I got that impression too. I'm also a little jealous of the guy hearing his life story.

I wouldn't put much hope in the NCAA to get this right cause they'll screw up again when the 17' starts
They got together last year to better understand the rule and correct the issues of targeting calls that were controversial from the previous year to only blow it again during the 16' season.
Neither do I. This is the NCAA we're talking about.

I thought he transferred to Kentucky for some reason. Shame he got hurt.
He's kick butt in my NCAA 14 video game over 1000 yards this season.

voted for more of the same.

Thanks Guys!

I found Diaco's press conference around the 10 minute mark start talking x's and o's to be very helpful. Also I thought what Riley said about recruiting athletes and more linebackers means more help on special teams to be interesting.
Sorry I don't know how to properly tag youtubes.

Thanks for the info guys +1s all around. I thought I remember complaints about Pelini using two gap up front am I correct about that?
I hadn't thought of the recruiting angle that's interesting.

So I've been sitting on this awhile hoping someone else would start this. I'm finally pulling the trigger.
Both times in my life time when Nebraska switched from what we had to a more pro style offense the end result was a losing season the first year. What can be expected of a transition to the 3-4 as a base defense? I don't recall much of an issue when we switched to a 4-3 but I was a lot younger then so perhaps my memory is incorrect.
I'm concerned about Sr's next year who will have had 3 DCs in their years here. And I heard rumblings of those loyal to Bo being unwilling to adopt the last guys system. Should I worry about guys not buying in? From what little I've heard, the new guy had me buying in pretty quickly, but I'm a pretty open minded guy.
School me in the 3-4. If I'm a DT recruited here to a base 4-3 should I be concerned? What about a LB? How hard are their transitions? What about the DB's I thought I read somewhere this will be their 7th DB coach in 8 seasons or something crazy.
I guess, what I'm asking for is what to expect scheme, personnel and end result wise. I know no one has a crystal ball but figure some out their are way more knowledgeable about the 3-4 than I. Coach me up. Thanks.

1. I think the butt-hurtedness of Banker might be a bit exaggerated. He was asked a question, he answered it the way he always does. I doubt their friendship ended. It was framed in terms of "regret". Yeah, he used harsh language, but coaches (esp. Defensive Coordinators in my experience) tend to do that, doesn't mean they'll feel like that forever.
2. As fast as things get out a call probably had to have been made otherwise he would have heard it from someone else first and imho that would have been worse.
I will miss his honesty and personality. I wish him the best. If Cosgrove can get a job at a D1A school I'm sure Banker will be fine.

My responses to peoples status don't seem to be sticking either.
This one is odd. I tend to encounter more double posts than not sticking. Can you nail down under what circumstances this happens with regularity? I think sometimes, the page is a bit slow to respond. Usually, I click "comment" and it's instantaneous, but sometimes I'll have to wait a short while to make sure it goes through. If it does go through, it should appear on the page.
I can't seem to make this happen now. I was responding to quite a few status in a short amount of time. Thank you for taking the time to address my concern.

Trying to post a video,....

I think tabbing any team from the SEC is kind of a cop-out. Sometimes I think they just have a meeting and decide who is gonna make a run this year. "Auburn it's your turn". So I think Georgia, Texas A&M will get their turn. No Notre Dame, Tennessee or Texas, does that mean they are back? Not sleeping giants? Dead giants?

Didn't the staff go to the Seahawks to learn their anti-targeting/rugby whatever it's called tackling technique?
nvm, he was gone by then.

I found this interesting ^^^
Other thoughts:
Leagues come and go, some without even a kick off. Just a few weeks ago I heard rumblings of an NFL developmental league did some digging and the responses ranged from "Never is ever going to happen" to "We're starting this spring". I still think the UFL started and operated under the gamble that the NFL would swoop in and fund them as a D league and I'll never get why they insisted on playing in the fall.
I do miss the Nighthawks, don't miss how the players got treated when things got lean. I was smart enough not to buy season tickets to the final season. I blinked and missed the Mammoths (or did I?) anyway they followed me on twitter. I've watched 3 Lincoln and 1 tri-city team disappear and the once mighty Arena league dwindle down to only 4 teams. Still my Beef tickets should arrive any day now.
I always have the same thought during the spring game. It seems like a shame to NOT use memorial stadium in the spring. My favorite league that never made it off the ground was made up of teams (Nebraska was one of the teams rumored) to use college stadiums and not even have team names just Nebraska, Tennessee, Arkansas etc made up of simple uniforms and former players who played there previously...never happened but I would have liked to see it.
There seems to exist a notion amongst most football fans in America, if it isn't NFL or 1-A college football then it isn't worth your time and if you're into it, you'll be made fun of. As long as this is around I don't see any other league lasting very long.

The Source sayin Huskers may have lost potential Husker cause other folks is promisin' stuff to families that NCAA says nobody should be promisin'...
I wonder about this a lot.
Do we not "play ball" like other schools? Is that why we make hay with guys like Kenny Bell and Keyshawns kid, who wouldn't take $$$ as much into consideration.

OWH always starting s***
Sells papers, gets clicks.

Probably not realistic but I'd throw a few million at Bud Foster and see what happens.
I've always liked the guy even as a potential HC here, but he's been at VT since 1987
If we are going to make a "splash hire", the only way it's going to happen is 1. Pay the man a lot of money and 2. name him DC/Co-HC. The lure of being the HC in waiting might be the only thing that makes a big name truly interested in coming here when they are getting paid comparable money elsewhere
I don't think the head coach in waiting every really works. Jimbo Fisher at FSU, is the only one that I can think that it worked out. Plus, that can backfire in recruiting, because the kids won't know who the real head coach is going to be, and when the head coach is actually going to step down.
Devaney -> Osborne
We have to figure out which Defensive coach...
Is willing to take a coaching job with a head coach who is himself on the hot seat.
Whoever takes the job might be here only one year.
Who would be interested in a job like that ?
Good question.

I don't think Minny is happless.

We were never a triple option attack iirc.

Oh! I just noticed that Sipple just wrote an article about this...
When Nebraska athletic director Shawn Eichorst stated 12 days ago that the Husker football program needs to upgrade talent, much of Husker Nation took notice.
I was kinda hoping someone would make a thread about Sip's article. I didn't want to be that guy.

One thing is for sure, lotta eyes one the spring game. Even more than usual.

The games before a Husker game are too long.
IKR?! This seems to happen before our Basketball games too.

Part of Tom's success was the offense, you could recruit to that specific offense another was continuity. He had assistants for years and years we're on our 4th post TO coaching staff since he left.
