  1. OK stupid thread. I'm just grasping at straws I guess. I feel like any monkey could coach this team, with this schedule, to 7 or 8 wins. Sheeeez.
  2. Name: Don Carthel Team: West Texas A&M University, D2 school. Why? Check out the facts: 1. This team won a total of 6 games in 2002, 03, and 04, and has been one of the worst college football teams AT ANY LEVEL over the last decade. 2. The previous coach was fired AT THE CONCLUSION OF SPRING BALL for inappropriate conduct. 3. Don Carthel was hired AFTER SPRING BALL, WITH NO RECRUITS. MANY OF THE TEAM QUIT. 4. The regular season ended Saturday, and West Texas A&M sits at 10-1, won the Lone Star Conference outright, and is the number 1 seed in the Southwest region going into the D2 playoffs. THIS GUY'S THE REAL DEAL. SHOW ME ANYONE ELSE OUT THERE THAT HAS THE STROKE HE DOES.
  3. Hey how about Houston Nutt? Errrrr, Dave Wandstett? Both of those guys have done a heck of a job - wished we'd have bagged one of them the first time.
  4. Heard that one before? Or at least something similar? I hope by now everyone is waking up that Cally's a fraud. While Solich's recruiting classes weren't the best, they were darn sure good enough to win 75% of his games. I'm not crying over spilled milk - what's done is done. But...it sure gives some perspective to look at what these clowns at Nebraska have done since letting Solich go. Let's look at a timeline: 11/03 - Solich unceremoniously fired after a 9-3 campaign. Pelini takes Nebraska to Alamo Bowl, where NU mows over Michigan State big time. - Pelini gets jerked around in the "interview" process - Pedy tries to hire Wanndstet (another LOSER) - Pedy tries to hire Houston Nutt (another LOSER) - Pedy tries to hire Dallas defensive coordinator, and Zimmer realizes Pedy's a jerk. - Cally gets fired by Oakland after a complete melt-down, and Pedy pees all over himself to hire him. Cally hired under much pomp and circumstance. - Cally says he "wants to win now", and that "rebuilding" isn't acceptable - Cally's bunch gets their a**es kicked around all last season, including a complete melt-down in Lubbock. - Cally says "we need better players" - Cally has cupcake schedule this year, but barely gets by the first 3 patsies. Only comfy win over a patsy was the Maine Blackbears. - NU looks promising (sort of) against Tech. "Moral victory" yippee!! - NU pretty much gets smoked by OU - score not indicative of game. - Cally does the "throat slash" and embarrasses the university further. - NU gets smoked by KU, the WORST team in all of the Big 12. Sorry guys, Cally's a loser, and there ain't no turn'n it around as long as he's here. A good high school head coach could come in with this talent and win more games. Keep the faith.
  5. Ha. Guess no one's claiming that now. How about DAL?
  6. Firing BC would send us into a tailspin? Errrrr. What is this we're in now? An initial descent?
  7. Been lots of talk about giving Cally 1, even 2 or 3 more years. Thoughts?
  8. No better off than it was before? Excuse me? I'm thinking we finished the season 10-3 before handing the keys to Cally & Co.
  9. Errrr. I think I posted this message the same time last week. Any Cally apologists still out there?
  10. I mean no disrespect at all. But the guy has shown me ZERO ability to gameday coach. The only teams NU has beaten have had clearly inferior talent. No exceptions. Teams with equal to/greater talent, NU has lost in the Callahan era. When you go 2 games with 14 yards rushing, something's simply not right. When you spot teams 14 or 21 points 3 out of 4 games, something's not right. Take a critical look at who NU has beaten this year. Maine, Wake, Pitt, Iowa State, Baylor. All were very close except for Maine, which was a lot closer than one would have thought. Wake and Pitt were flat-out squeakers, and those teams are among the bottom of the 1-A barrel. Iowa State? OK, I'll give you that one. Good win. But can you believe that we are sitting here saying "good win" against Iowa State? A team that took us to overtime? Unbelievable. As long as everyone is content with 5 and 6 win seasons, we should be all set. But I will go on record right now and guarantee you this: Bill Callahan is incapable of winning more than 6 games in a season. Any season. If he generates any win more than 6, it should be cause for tremendous celebration by the Husker faithful. But I don't see it happening. Those days of 11,10,9, or even 8 wins a year are ancient history with Callahan. Time will prove me correct.
  11. You're so right...oh what could have been...had we not blocked a kick against Pitt...and the ball not bounced our way against ISU or Wake Forest. Sheeez. We could easily only have 2 wins under our belt.
  12. The question is, how long will it take NU administration to figure that fact out? This year? Next year? 07? 08? How many more "moral victories" do we have to endure? How many more excuses about "inferior talent" will we have to hear? How many times will we hear "we are making progress" when we are not? The fact is, probably our best winning effort this year was on the road against Baylor. Yes, Baylor. We won 4 out of our first 5 games, but they were all at home, and all "patsy" games except Tech, which we lost. It takes a man to stand up and say "I made a mistake". Is Pederson man enough to stand up and say "I made a mistake?" Is his ego too big? I cannot believe that Nebraska football has slumped to this level. The score Saturday could have been MUCH worse. And frankly, we could have EASILY been beaten by either Wake Forest or Pitt - two of the worst teams in 1A. Wake up people - we have a lot more losses ahead of us before the W's start coming again. And only Pederson can answer when the tide will turn. It won't until Callahan's gone that's for sure. The guy can't coach. Nuff said.
