I don't think Pappoe is changing his mind. As for corner, we are after Tavion Mayo and Jamel Starks. On the O-Line, We are likely taking a JUCO Tackle. We still need to get a pass rusher and maybe another Wide Receiver.

Word is JUCO OL is unlikely in this class now beyond what we already have.

Just a couple questions here about over signing and it's effect on roster management and player development. Over the years, I have heard more than one Husker head coach talk about creating a balance of players with fairly equal representation, freshman through seniors.

When you over sign and create a big class comprised of mostly freshmen with a few jucos, don't you upset the balance? Obviously, only a certain number of the freshmen will develop into regulars in the line up and stars. If you have bigger classes instead of balance, guys can't wait their turn because a good percentage of the guys they're competing with share their eligibility status. Wouldn't this make people frustrated enough to transfer and then you feel the need to over sign again and again and again?

I didn't know if past coaches were unwilling to over sign because of the negative effect they believed it would have on the team or if they were just unable to do.it and using roster balance to excuse this deficiency as an HC.

    Thoughts?

You take a big class and plan on some of them not panning out and moving on naturally.

I would guess they're not "saving" any spots.  You want all your commits to sign.

But considering we are probably still looking for 8-9 guys, I doubt we will be full on the early day.

Idk. I'm guessing Frost will hope to have 26 guys signed by ESD and then go to town on some gamechangers with our oversign spots for 2019 and working on 2020 and beyond dudes.

I'm extremely excited about Bryce. I know the hope (maybe expectation) is for him to come in and start. He is lower rated than John Raridon when he came in. Is there any chance we are jumping the gun and he still may need some time? I recognize the frames are entirely different. Just curious about how realistic these expectations are for him.

I would say it's safe to say Raridon either hasn't worked hard enough or was overrated. Hopefully there is still hope he could be a 1 or 2 year guy for us though.

I wonder how many spots in the class we would like to leave open for after early signing?

We landed some nice 4 stars last year

I haven’t heard about which guys plan to sign at the early signing date, but I would guess most will.

After that it will be flipping season for Frost and I’m sure he will save some room for them to work.

I mentioned LT because that is what both Michigan and Wisconsin were recruiting him for.  I probably jumped the gun thinking the same.

Sometimes it’s just a stepping stone...

Jaimes is doing a pretty nice job and will continue to get better. Would be hard to move him from LT to RT his Junior year if he’s the best man for the job.

Your reading comprehension is crap but its not surprising coming from you.

Where in my statement did I mention Walters was a trash coach?

I just said that Williams is considered the best in the buisness when it comes to the mechanics of the position.  That is why he has a number of players come and work with him during the offseason.

    Fine, you didn’t say trash.

But, you’re implying he is better because a handful of NFL guys work with him in the off-season. I just don’t see that being a reason he is better. Again, I LOVED Williams here and still do, but you’re just throwing s#!t at the wall.

Kind of my thoughts exactly.  I dont remember reading or hearing about NFL receivers and other college receivers going to workout with Walters.

Walters has coached some good receivers but when it comes to mechanics of the position,  Williams is considered the best in the game.

So if a select group of dudes don’t come train with you in the off-season, you’re trash? Goodness. The guy was a Biletnikoff winner. He probably has a pretty good idea of what he is doing too. And this is coming from me, who loves williams and wanted him to stay on.

Yes.  But I think it was because of injury if I remember correctly.  Does that count as a "medical" redshirt and he still has a "normal" redshirt to use?

Nope. Last year was a RS. Have to use that before you can use a medical.

    Williams sucks compared to Walters.

    Walters sucks compared to Williams.

How the hell do y’all know this when one of them has only coached here 8 months?

Also, what is the standard for comparison? We have 2 great receivers so we clearly are supposed to have 3 or more and since we don’t Walters sucks. So, what was the 3 receiver duo that was better when Williams was here?

Walters has smith who was a 2nd rounder from UCF.

before Williams we had outstanding WR too with Westy, Enunwa, couple others that are slipping my mind

The question itself is a bit ridiculous; we're 8 games into a new staff who have to completely replenish a WR corp that had very little talent in it (past the top 2 players in the group, who are conveniently left out of this conversation). I suspect the reason why guys like Woodyard and McQuitty haven't seen the field much yet is the same reason why Warner has: blocking. No block, no rock; even though Woodyard and McQuitty are more naturally talented than Warner, Warner has an affinity for blocking that the former two do not. He and Williams will attack downfield blocking, which is why they are getting the lions share of opportunities behind Morgan and JD.

Now, for your hypothetical (and it isn't even Tuesday, right @ScottyIce?): I suspect that, sooner or later, there will be an opening at the OC/WR position. Walters has an eye on being a head coach, and he'll leave on his own volition long, long before Frost would ever entertain firing him. As long as Frost is comfortable with Williams' off-the-field issues, I would welcome him back on the staff in a heartbeat. By all accounts, he's a good coach and a good recruiter, and he cares about his players. And he's atoned for his mistakes. However, I give this less of a chance of happening this offseason (Frost firing Walters and hiring Williams) than all of Scotty's hypotheticals combined.

Yup not Tuesday and frost is not firing anyone.

  12. Lol... oh man, this stuff never gets old.

I really liked Williams, but unfortunately there is no room for him to be on field coaching.

I personally think Walters is doing a fine job. Some youngsters aren’t ready to play right away.

    Hmm.

Looks like we could be gaining a lot of steam here.

4* Benhart getting CB’s and visiting this weekend.

4* Danielsen visiting this weekend unofficially.

4* Concoran visiting this weekend unofficially.

Next weekend, the Twin Towers From Texas in the 2021 class are visiting. Both 4*. Foster & Conner.

Would be fun to land a couple of these guys.

Kinda cool, looks pretty solid for all of these guys sans Danielsen.

The twin towers are visiting N again in a couple weeks.

Hoping we just load up in the trenches.
