There will always be a small sect of bo-lievers, but todays revelations are just another step in re-uniting the fan-base. To the overwhelming majority of fans the perception today is "Bo is a vulgar a-hole, good riddance....".
Hell, maybe the whole tape was a conspiracy and SE instructed a player to record the meeting for him. They waited until Bo landed safely under Tressel's wing and then leak the tape themselves to obliterate Bo's reputation and pull public opinion toward the University for making the right moral choice. (not likely, but it's fun to speculate right?)
Anyway, you can't argue that DONU has been playing the fans like a fiddle recently. Tim Miles is a social media darling, Ameer's social media heisman campaign was outstanding until his injury. Now we get to fire a winning coach and make it look like the new guy with a modest record but tons of experience and from every account is the nicest freaking dude you'll ever meet is actually a GREAT move.
Appease the donors and alumni, re-unite the fanbase, save the sell-out streak! It's totally gonna work, and I hope the new positive classy leadership is gonna put the boys over the hump.....maybe that's exactly what we really need. It's a home-run ball strategy from SE, and god bless him if it works......may Nebraska have mercy on his soul if it doesn't....

Why is Jamrog losing his job?
I don't think Jamrog is gone, as Assistant AD he should report to SE, not the HC.

So in the $800,000 rough dollars we spend on recruiting, was there not enough left over for Riley to make a phone call or two to the recruits we already had? Has he already given up any chance on them or has Harvey really clamped down on discretionary spending in the Athletic Dept.?
Dude, you guys need to cool it a bit on the calling recruits thing. Dude just got announced and had a press day on Friday. He's probably assembling his staff before he starts contacting recruits. He'll want to be able to introduce their position coach. Doesn't really help re-assure a recruit when he asks "so who's my coach" and you tell him "Ummmm.......I'm not sure yet."

The thing I have yet to see answered is, if all these assistants are top notch, recruiters, position experts, molders of young men, and all-round great guys, why do they seem to be stuck in OSU? We raise up a competent asst. and get pilfered within 2yrs. What keeps these guys glued to Corvallis? Riley pulling them out seems like the only way any of them could leave.
Optimism is waning and it's worse than the crash after a caffeine buzz.
To bring your hopes up a bit his long time OC moved to coach QB's for the Giants(although Eli stinks this year so take that FWIW) and also coached Matt Moore, whom while unable to lock down a starting position has been a pretty solid backup QB for the Panthers & Dolphins when he hasn't been battling injuries.
Yeah, I couldn't remember that dudes name (I'm not an NFL fan). Paul Chryst, now HC at Pitt and formerly the OC at Wisconsin, used to be Riley's OC at OSU.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danny_Langsdorf
I honestly wouldn't be too upset to see him brought in as OC. They really showed a lot of QB development and our team needs that BADLY. I think Stanton can be a monster with the right coaches.

Anyone think Riley could have a chance to snatch up Danny Langsdorf since Eli is having a stinker of a year.

He worked a lot of years under Riley as OC and had some decent success.

Also for the posters who keep saying very little talent at OSU. They've had more talent then Nebraska. They've played in a BCS bowl In last decade. They beat both UCLA and Winny in 2012. We lost both those games. Oregon State is not the arm pit all you trying to claim to justify this hire and believe.
Check their past 5 recruiting classes, Nebraska has far more 4+ star players. The difference is that they can teach & make their kids better.
Which is testament to how well Nebraska is still regarded. If our previous garbage talent developers could recruit that well than these coaches who've been doing more with less should be rockstars with Nebraska level recruits right?
Nobody knows what's in the crystal ball, but we can all wish for the best.
I am just saying that you are comparing apples to oranges. We have more resources & facilities. This just like Miles coming to Nebraska. He will do much better here than Colorado St. Oh yes, there was a bunch of whiners in this board about that hire.
I hope your right!!! I'm all in on the Riley train, but can't help but have some reservations still.....it's kinda in our DNA now after Callahan and Pelini.

What if the new staff can't get those high 3 and 4 star guys to come here?
We may have a few more wins the next few years and a 2007like fall off.
All signs point to the OSU staff being fantastic recruiters, I have no doubt they'll be able to pull at least the same caliber talent as Pelini & co.

That whole apathy thingy is starting to come back... MUST... REMAIN... OPTIMISTIC....
I'm ok with the position coaches, they seem like great recruiters, but i'm really apprehensive about Banker.
-
Better not be as DC...I fine it hard to believe Banker comes here to be a position coach only. And considering he's basically been a LB or Secondary coach, if it's true you, know what he'll coach and good bye Mr Warren.
I will flip the f#*k out...
I don't think warren would be out recruiting unless he was being retained. Which really lines up with him at D-coordinator. Orgeron could still come on as a d-line coach, but then we'd lose Kaz.
It's a tough spot either way and Riley gets it his way, not what we want. We can hope that his endorsement of Banker for HC means he didn't intend to bring him along, but that's just conjecture at this point.
The current staff should be expected to earn their pay, and that includes recruiting.
There's no faster way to piss off a recruit than to fire the coach they've been talking to. None of the other assistants are allowed to recruit right now. That's a pretty telling sign that Warren will probably be staying on.

I'm looking at it this way now.
HC: Riley
OC: Garrett
RB: Brown
WR: Brennan
OL: hope it's OSU or new guy
DC: Orgeron
DL: Steele also recruiting coord
LB: Bray
DB: Warren
ST: Read?
Is the OSU o-line coach good? I don't know which position has been more frustrating over the years: QB or o-line.
Good enough to give OSU's QB's enough time against USC, Stanford, Oregon, UCLA, etc. over the years to set some records...

According to Phil Steele, Huskers vs. Trees @ Foster Farm Bowl (Levi's Stadium - Santa Clara).
I think announcement will be just after CFP Show ..... I think (CFP Show - Sunday 11:30 CDT)
https://www.philsteele.com/bowls/14-15/bowlprojections.html
Rutgers vs. La. Tech @ Heart of Dallas
Terps vs. Gravitate Into Mediocrity @ Quick Lane
Nittany Lions vs. Boston College @ Pinstripe
Gophers vs. U$C @ Holiday
Spartans vs. Miss. State @ Peach
Buckeyes vs. Georgia Tech @ Orange (missed out CFP playoffs)
Badgers vs. Georgia @ Outback
Hawkeyes vs. Auburn @ Taxslayer
Illini (6W-6L) - left out
I think it would be a great boon to coach Riley to have the huskers play against any PAC-12 team that he scouted/played this year.

Tried to take a selfie with a racoon and got bit.....

Why does everyone keep going out of their way to tell us Riley is a nice guy and he is nice to the media. He's been coaching for 14 yrs at a school with no expectations. The fishbowl gets mighty small in this state.
Well,,the butt hurt media around here was upset that Bo wasn't nice.
Now , they've got nice.
I think the N-Club letter posted confirms the rumors that a lot of Alumni relationships had been damaged and that a large portion of donations from them was threatened. This was totally a move to repair those relationships and keep the donations rolling in.
-
I think you're onto something here. I've heard rumors around town that they're changing the name of the school to The University of Nebraska-Lincoln at Madison.
FWIW a HS friend's mom from here in west of Lincoln is working on a large re-branding project in the communications department at UNL. Supposedly the logo will be kept for Athletics but the academic side is getting a big makeover with new logo's.

I've been thinking long and hard about the Riley hire today and have come to the following conclusions:
1. Sean is firmly in charge of the Athletic Department and the message is clear: OOZING POSITIVITY EVERYWHERE.
2. They firmly believe that the positive vibe will have an effect on the football team. They believe in the talent of the players they have, but they needed to be rid of Pelini's indifferent/negative messages being delivered that was possibly reducing the fanbase.
3. I believe they made a good choice. It's MUCH easier to be a fan of a positive coach than a negative one. Even if they aren't doing as well as we think they should. Riley will never be expected to contend for a CCG every year, but one or two before he retires would be awesome.
4. I believe Eichorst is going to move to put Scott Frost in a Coach-in-waiting position, he's a hot hire name and we want to lock him up before someone else jumps in first. I hope this happens, Riley/Frost could probably obliterate the sh#t out of Oregon when we play them in 2016. That would put Nebraska on a lot of recruits minds as Oregon is seen as the badass team to play for in a lot of kids minds these days.
5. This is the recipe for success in football by Sean Eichorst: Positive Message (Unite the fanbase), Beat the crap out of Oregon in 2016 and boost our recruiting, Scott takes over the reigns and rides the top recruiting classes to a CCG & beyond. This is the pipedream folks. To etch another Nebraska legend in the annals of Husker history. Whether this comes to bear is highly up in the air, but that's the story they want to write.

We have been following the wrong columbus plane I believe. This was tweeted shortly prior to Bielema saying he isn't coming to nebraska.
that IS the plane we've been watching....
-
So I have an insider source, but no I came to most likely shoot down everyone's big plane from Columbus thingy. I did a little research and here's what I came up with:
So the plane is part of Landscapes Unlimited who designs athletic facilities and golf courses, it just so happens that they are part of the design team renovating the Woody Hayes practice facilities at Ohio St. I did the obvious and searched for Columbus on their site and here's what came up.
http://www.landscapesunlimited.com/search/node/columbus
http://www.landscapesunlimited.com/woody-hays-practice-football-fields
So it looks like they are doing the irrigation and infrastructure work on the building.
Little about the project:
http://www.cleveland.com/osu/index.ssf/2014/05/a_waterfall_one_of_many_featur.html
So they are doing landscaping/most likely the waterfall....So that is why Landscaping Unlimited was in Columbus, OH.
Not for Tressel....
I am 100% for the Vest, I was just lurking all day and didn't want anyone to get their hopes up to high.
Hope anyone didn't go see their plane land to welcome our landscapers back home.
Bed for me, see you guys tomorrow.
GBR!
All I got from this post

That article with the pictures is from May. Surely the construction was finished before football season started. Try as they may......the sweater vest train will not be stopped!

The fact that firing Pelini started the dominoes to getting Pederson fired is sooooooo deliciously ironic. Nebraska wasn't done sticking it old sleazy steve quite yet.
