  1. I thought this was funny too, apparently KU students already posted a response to the video above...

I watched the video and....so 5 is the new 3 in Kansas? I'm not surprised you guys tried to teach intelligent design in schools.

Before the NCAA Tournament, they voted for the national champions. In the 20s, we won 2 of those. I am sure you guys would be thrilled to have everyone not count your titles that got voted for before the BCS. I once had a Kentucky fan tease me about that, until he realized Adolph Rupp was on the team then, so that sort of conflicted him into silence. I don't really care if you recognize them or not, I do. Basketball does not have the "pre history" football does, and the 20s were not that long ago... Phog Allen was the coach then, and he did manage to coach up Dean Smith, Adolph Rupp, get Basketball into the Olympics and was the main advocate for the current NCAA tourney. I am counting his titles...

  2. They took it down about 12 hours in, then removed all the comments, locked the abilityt o make more down, and back it came. It seems they conviced themselves That Mizzou fans loved it and everyone else were hating because they don;t understnad and root for other teams. I think this thing is really, really well made. That makes it much easier to become popular, as if it was horribly produced it woudl be hard to watch. They are just funny and talented enough to create a masterpiece, at leaset in the eyes of a Kansas fan :D

  3. obviously i am no fan of kansas. But lets get real here. Gill did a poor job. Yes ku is not set up to win at football, but niether is ISU. But Paul Rhodes can coach. Infact he is a darn good coach. Gill...not so much. Look at the facts here.

Gills record at KU: 5-19 (.263)

    Big 12 record: 1-16 (.062)

His one big 12 win consisted of a 35 pt 4th quarter to finish a 28 pt comeback against a piss poor CU team that was 2-6 in conference.

He lost to a 1-AA team

His avg margin of victory was 11.4 pts. Take out a 26pt win over NM State in 2010 and 18 pts over 1-AA Mcneese St. and that margin of victory is 4.3 pts

On the other hand his avg margin of defeat is 27.36 pts per. (28.56 in conference play)

Ku ranks last or next to last in 19 of 26 catagories in big12 conference stats.

They suck. They are not well coached. They get blown out. And they have done so for 2 straight years (24 games) will little to no improvement in any area of their team.

Frankly I think Gill gets out of this okay. He had little to no business getting a BCS job to begin with and then he got 2 million a year out of ku like he had actually done something to deserve that kind of contract. His 2008 Bulls team was a walking fluke. Nothing statistacally about that team was great. And for those that actually watched their games know what I am talking about. That team got EVERY possible bounce that season. They got lucky more than any team I can even recall. They were a decent MAC team, which is not saying much because the MAC hasnt been very good for a little while now. For example, his 2008 team scored 30.3 pts a game. But gave up 28.2pts a game. How did they win?? Well that is because they were +20 on turnovers. +20!! They fell on 26 fumbles and recovered fumbles at a rate of 66.67% Thats freak. There is nothing that is more 50/50 than a fumble, if anything the fumbling team has the advantage cause they ussually can fall back on the ball as any NE fan is aware of as much as your team has put the ball on the ground the last 2 years. But Gill's team got 2/3rds of of the balls his opponents fumbled that year. It was a fluke season that was the only winning season he ever had.

Point blank, Gill was a mistake hire, he desearved to get fired and he is rich because ku game him a stupid contract.

I might say it more gently, but I essentially agree with Fro daddy. Gill seems like a wonderful man, but he has not been a good hire and his teams don't play well. I would add, they do have some talent on this team. I would also add it is hard to tell by how they play as a team. Even when we played well, we blew it. Other times, we just looked like we did not belong on the field. It was not good.

  4. Uhmm I don't think Northwestern is a crappy opponent and they're sure not anywhere near KU crappy. I equate them to KSU crappy only with more class and a better fanbase.

With all due respect, that is madness. They lost to Army and have 1 conference win against Indiana. 3-5 ain't matching top 25 K-State, as much as I hate to credit K-State with anything. I do see they are giving you a good game (likely Bo did not use my stategy) so I need to stop typing and go root for the Huskers. Really, though, that is crazy talk. Good luck and lets hope to avoid a disaster.

  5. As Northwestern sort of sucks (I am pre-emptively pointing out that I am aware that the Jayhawks share this status), I have an idea for firing up the team.

Convince them that K-State, in their jealous hatred of you and continued astempt to equate program stature, has stolen your logo and moved to Chicago. They even put their stupid generic Mascot RIGHT on the N and did some sort of not cool styling to it. Oh, and they made it purple, a very non manly color. Surely years of jealous attempts to become Nebraska has led K-State to this ridiculous end. Now they must be punished. If you guys could roll over to Manhatan one more time when you are done and take care of your old Wildcat nemsises, that would be cool too. We sure can't, at least not in football.

  6. Great coach, pretty sure I saw him at Wal-Mart yesterday buying stool softners...hard to tell though, I've noticed all old people in Kansas look alike.

That makes no sense unless you live in Manhattan, all that ag research does strange things to a man. Frankly, inbreeding is across the line over in Missouri where the Hillbillies are...

  7. I was really not happy at all about the Wisconsin game. I thought you would shock em and kick some butt. Nope.

Gald to see the life come back in late enough to save the Ohio State game.

Then you pummel a not so great Gopher squad, but still a good win

Now fully turn it back around against #9 Michigan St! You guys have some decent teams to finish up with, would love to see the season truly back on track with a win here! Your even the favorite. Good luck!

  8. I love to root against him and his team, but he is a GREAT, GREAT coach. One of the best ever. I know he has no title, but to do what he did with th eresources they have is IMPRESSIVE. He deserves all the recognition he gets.

  9. I don't buy it. The 10 team issue is a simple one, our TV money gets split so many wasys, we don't get extra money if we add extra teams, so we are not adding them. THe other side was add teams for better choices now and more stability. WHen our tv deal is up, we likely will have to get 2 more teams and put our title game back to get the best deal. Right now we are paid like a 12 team league, but splitting it 10 ways. That was done to preserve the league, but they are not paying us more to go back to 12, which is what they paid for in the first place.

As for WV, it makes perfect sense, but the geography is truly awful for their kids. The sens is we needed the most credible program we could get. They have really good football and basketball Frankly, in the 2 sports that matter, they net out better than Mizzou. Football is defintely better, basketball is a wash (but they do have some final fours, unlike Mizzou). Now academically, they are not even clsoe to Mizzou. They do have a great fan base, but the state is smaller and poorer, but they hvae nothing else there (not 2 NFL teams, etc.). Due to Geography, Acaddemics and the fact that Mizzou is our rival, I don't like the rtrade, but it was the best choice given the options.

INterestingly, Academics was claimed to be "ignored" in realignment, but, it was actually a HUGE factor. the conferneces that REALLY had a choice, mostly took AAU schools. CU, NEBRASKA, Mizzou, A&M, Pitt and Syracuse all really had a choice and so did their hosts. 5 of the 6 are AAU schools (and SYracuse is not, but is a good school). Utah went to the Pac 12 because Scott's plan fell apart, TCU (A good school by the way, but not AAU) and WV were the BI12 trying to keep their conference athletically credible and still in "control" of Texas. THe Big 12 just did not have the choices, nor did the Pac 12, when certain choices came up. The teams and conferences that really "chose", took great schools.

Finally, still btter the Border War is temporarily wrecked and likely forever diminished. Sucks. Sucks. Sucks.

Good luck to Mizzou. I understand why you left, but wish you didn't. Not real sure you will come out ahead, but at least you managed your risk and can now just look forward. Best wishes and I hate you all.

  10. THe team he has now does have some talent. Turner has recruited some good kids. The defense is bad, thoguh, and the defensive coordinator got cnacer and could not coach this year, so it is the 3rd guy in 3 years and we are really weak on that side of the ball. We do have some good young players, particularly on offense. The issue is the team is undisciplined and makes a lot of mistakes, particularly on defense. Turner does have to own that. As for his staff, he picked em all. He did nto keep anyone (although later brought back Beatty, who he nearly kept but originally did not). We have not sucked this bad in a while, we are not really competing a lot the last two years. Mangino's teams usaully copeted, but I do agree the talent was light (although not completely gone) when Gill arrived.

  11. Just to be super clear, I am really sad Mizzou is leaving. A really, really, really great rivalry will be hugely diminished. That sucks. Kansas City will lose even more of its college sports connection, that also will suck. I wish we were going to be in the same conference as MU. Looks like that isn't ever going to happen. I do honestly wish MU the best. I hate them, but I loved to hate them. One of my favorite things about college sports is again disappearing.

    :(

...and again college sports gets less special. Not happy. I hope one day I don't wake up and it is all just minor league sports.

  12. There are SOOOOO many things that are absolutely wrong with what happened in 2007 with KU. I could spend thousands of words telling what a sham this was and how it ties into the bowl system and the sham that it is, here are just some quick basics.

#1 KU played a schedule that had an opponent W/L record of 74/76 (.493). Keep in mind this is adding in MU and VT which had a 23/5 combined record and that KU went 1/1 in those games. Meaning until MU and VT are added KU had played a 51/71 opponent schedule. (.418)

#2 Until KU played their bowl game they had beat one team all year that had a winning record. (Central Mich. 8-6)

#3 They finished second in the north and 3rd in the big12. Losing to Missouri and avoided playing the top 3 in the south, Oklahoma, Texas & TT

#4 FBI! You may remember a little ticket scandal recently that involved the KU AD's office and resulted in a number of people from the office being sent to federal pens. Oh and by the way they found nearly 9,000 unused boxed Orange bowl tickets during that investigation....

#5 which clearly gives credit to the number of people who spoke of an under the table deal from KU buy upfront all of KU's share of OB tickets plus any remaining unsold tickets if the OB picked KU

#6 Everyone in the freaking world of CFB knows that MU got shafted. MU won the division, won the head to head, was higher ranked in the coaches’ poll, AP poll and the BSC rankings.

#7 BCS games are great but mean very little. MU in the big east...how many bcs games by now..2..3... Does playing in a BSC game really mean that much? Look at the Missouri program, compare that to the kansas program, Hawaii program, Syracuse or Illinois ( who Mizzou also beat that year). And that’s not even going into the fact that the OB commish didn’t know that KU had lost to MU and finished behind them in the division when trying to explain their pick.

And finally addressing your big10 money could help KU, thats a sham also. The BSC game didnt help KU, no extra money will help KU. Only a miracle from God himself would bring that program to a level of consistent success. And by success i mean a bowl game. they have only been to 2 in a row once in their history and they barely did that with a 6 win regular season following that 'awesome 2007' team. And I seriously doubt a higher power will intervene to help a hapless football program; this isn’t angels in the backfield...

It clearly still annoys me, and everytime someone brings it up as a perceved slight towards MU and a plus to kansas it just looks dumb in my opinion. They just didnt belong there and trying to argue for that point is....well... you get it.

There are 3 kids of suns/sons in kansas; sunshine, sunflowers and sons of b*****s

    A tad bitter?

    A few points

In the Big 12 title, you got walloped and your team quit. That hurt you. It also gave you 2 losses, one being ugly. We had one 8 point loss.

Also, you are factually wrong on our opponents. Oklahoma State had a winning record (you omit that, plus we beat them at their place), A&M had a winning record (you omit that, plus we are the ONLY team to beat them at Kyle field that year)

Also, teams like CU, Iowa State, K-State and even Toledo were all were around 500

KU travelled well to that Orange Bowl. I missed 9,000 open seats, not sure what that was about, but there was no big section empty.

Finally, we did win.... Lots of people thought Va. Tech had a legit claim to be in the title game that year...

My last comment, Mizzou did have a great team that year and it was unfortunate. The team that went to a BCS bowl game that did not deserve it was Illinois. They had 3 losses (one to Mizzou) and their being in over their head showed when they got blown out. KU had one of the best teams that year, definitely deserved a BCS bid. Mizzou had a great resume too and showed their quality in the Cotton Bowl. I don't disagree that Mizzou should have had a BCS appearance that year, but your rant overstates a few things and isn't very balanced. In the end, KU was 11-1 and lost one game by 8 points. We came back from 3 touch downs at then end of the 3 quarter and scored 21 points in the 4th quarter, and almost caught you. KU had a great team that year too...
