  1. You would not do well as a Kansas football fan All I can say is, it is one game. Firing coaches during the season never works out and once the word is out, recruiting dips too. I would recommend trying not overstate the importance of a single game. You guys got to the BIG championship last year (can't explain what happened in that game), but being a top team in a 14 team conference shows all is not lost. Hopefully they learn from the experience. Until the season ends and the body of work is comprehensive, I would step away form the ledge...
  2. I think part of the issue was the UCLA was off their game. You could be right that it took the edge off the Huskers when they jumped out to the big lead. Your fans have always been great though and you won a lot of titles with your fans applauding other teams for great effort. I think blaming being a class act is not very accurate, if the past is a guide.
  3. I know it is tough after a loss, but I think how the school and fans handled UCLA's loss said a lot of great things about Nebraska. The tributes that were part of the game and how the fan base respected that situation says more than the result of the game about Nebraska. I wasn't at the game, so maybe I missed things, but it seemed like the fans there handled things in their usual, first tier fan way.
  4. Wow, this game has seen such a change. Crowd is livid and a lot of frustration. Unusual game so far. 35 straight points after an 18 point lead has to be a very rare thing. That all said, While the Huskers are reeling, I think there is still time if they just stop reaching and put together a drive to give the defense a little time to collect themselves, anything can still happen. I think they have to put it together and finish this drive with a TD, now...
  5. I don't like these unis much either. I wish if they were going to do the blacks, they did it against red teams like Wisconsin, Indiana, Rutgers, Ohio State, etc.
  6. The Big 10 is not making a great impression in the first weekend. Purdue got rolled, Ohio State is not doing what i would expect... Of course, their mediocrity is being outshown by the Big 12, who's crappiness this weekend is inspiring to all underdogs, everywhere.
  7. I actually took it to be sort of funny, but I was thinking of it more as just an adamant no, not a personal attack. Another realignment match-up had A&M and Mississippi State looking so alike that A&M wore black when they faced. I guess like last year, alternate unis are a good answer. It was annoying to see in the title game with the unis being so close when both teams wore their regular ones.
  8. Firstly, your vitriol isn't very becoming. I find it odd that people who disagree keep insulting my team, when my point is not relevant to them in any way nor is my position couched in any sort of mean way, so... Back to an attempt at discussion. I would remind you that rosters lag years after recruiting. You were either in another conference when a lot if your current Texas kids came or still had good ties briefly thereafter. When we are tracking recruiting, I think the recruits you get are the measure. I am sorry You don't like my conclusion, but the Landlord has the same data I do and I think it is a clear trend. Again, not saying that is the end all to have more Texas kids, but it is one thing to note brought on for a logical reason.
  9. For those with the well wishes, much obliged. Not sure where he haters are coming from, as I posted about recruiting between NU and OU and was by no means trolling. I agree masses of Texas kids are not required for The Huskers to succeed. I just observed, factually, you are getting less recruits from there now, which should not be a surprise. Anyways, I think when NU was in the same conference as OU, I would have picked the Huskers (I grew up in KC) if I had to chose between the 2 as a football player. Now I would be more torn, maybe picking OU because I would be in the local conference, but Lincoln is still closer the Norman, so maybe not. Anyways, now that thought process will help you all across the rust belt states, so you end up just changing your profile. Either way, good luck this year! If you make the Rose Bowl, I am THERE!
  10. Since we announced we were going to the BIG we have smashed you guys in recruiting Texas. In 2012 and 2013, you got like 2 and 3 guys. in 2008 and 2009, before you were leaving, you used to get 8 and 9. I am sure the numbers vary, but you guys never got such low numbers were you were in the Big 12. You definitely lost ground in Texas. I am suprised you are now benchmarking your performance against my Jayhawks, with their 1 win last season. Let me know how that goes as a philosophy Now I am not sure how it effected your overall efforts, as you gain new exposure for the B1G, as you lose it in Texas... I looked up the Huskers recruiting ranks for the last 10 years to see if there are any obvious trends... I admit Rivals is a bit of a beauty contest because they often base their ranks on who is recruiting a kid, so they become self fulfilling prophecies to a small degree, but here goes anyway. Year Rivals Rank... 2002 #40 Big 12 with Solich 2003 #42 Big 12 with Solich 2004 #58 Big 12 with Callahan, first year coach 2005 #5 Big 12 with Callahan 2006 #20 Big 12 with Callahan 2007 #13 Big 12 with Callahan 2008 #30 Big 12, first Bo Year, following losing season 2009 #28 in Big 12 2010 #22 in Big 12, but B1G was a fact 2011 #15 B1G 2012 #25 B1G 2013 #17 B1G What do I see in this? First Year coaches struggle to recruit, Solich likely do to running the old school stuff, was going after non traditional players, and moving conferences is hard to quantify. When Callahan hit his best year, and they were the best in recent times, it was in the Big 12. It is hard to know if you attribute that to the coach, the conference, or the lunar month. The Huskers are getting pretty solid classes now, and they are in the B1G. I think the safest conclusion that there is data to prove is that leaving hurt Nebraska in Texas, may have helped elsewhere.
  11. I like the Nebraska Fan base better. While there are exceptions, it is hard to beat the average Nebraska fan for class and passion. I also like your stadium better, but that may be more personal taste. I am not sure the BIG is as much of an advantage, it just keeps you far away from Texas recruiting grounds and gives you more cold places to play.
  12. Quarterback: Tommie Frazier Running Back: Rex Burkhead Linebacker: Lavonte David A team full of good and great players, but with so many also leaders, is a championship team.

  14. Hahah. He should have started with Mizzou sending out a memo how they were going to join the Big 19, then later add their undying loyalty declartion, then the SEC. Needless to say, that missed. Still, it is funny.
  15. This Pat Forde article is pretty funny. Now just to be clear, I did not write the article. I actually blame Mizzou for all realignment, because they tried to go to the Big 10 and you all took their spot. I know most of you blame Texas. That all said, this Pat Forde Article is really funny... http://sports.yahoo.com/news/ncaaf--conference-realignment--blame-someone-else-and-pass-the-checks.html
  16. You have 7 in the North and 6 in the south, was that on purpose? Not that I would not take Va. Tech, but think they would more likely go to the SEC.
  17. Yeah, buit all the other schools the Big East added for football are clutter in basketball (ok, not Temple and Memphis). A lot of the BB only schools are Catholic, though, so I am sure it is playing on ND's mind on what the effect on them will be. SInce they get nothing but dysfunction from football, I would think they might be better off without it. 7 Basketball only Catholic Schools in the Big East... Marquette Georgetown Seton Hall St. John's Villanova Providence DePaul
  18. I think we signed over our media rights (along with everyone else) for 6 years. We are all about to sign a 13 year version, so we appear rooted where we are. I think the Big would wait for the ACC to fall in the crapper and grab UNC and another partner (UVA or Marlyand, maybe both). UNC is a great school, great basketball, flagship in a huge and growing state and one of the best Public Schools in the country. I think that is where Delany will go, but he has to wait for the ACC to fall apart ot the point where UNC would do it. THat may be coming this summer...
  19. Yeah, I spose they grab UConn, Rutgers, and maybe even USF (and maybe not) and entrench themselves as the 5th best conference, 1st best in basketball. THen the Big east is a bizarre frankenstein. a group of great BB onl schools with a mish mash from all over then country of unrelated football schools. IF that came of the Big East, the BB only schools should just break off, as ND would split anyway...
  20. If FSU leaves and BCS money is not flowing into the ACC it will be scramble mode for everyone to get out. I think FSU and Clemson are gone. That dosen't mean the 4 conferences will all start trying to get to 16, that makes no sense to me. Why would the B1G for example start snatching up the likes of Pitt and Syracuse when they don't add more money to the pot than the average B1G school? I could see both the SEC and B1G having interest in a pairing of NC and VATech. Georgia Tech could be a Big12 target. Maryland, NC State, Virginia, BC, and/or Miami could have a fit somewhere I just can't see it now. ND is still the big chip that needs to fall, and if this playoff forces them into a conference my guess is B1G. One thing that seems pretty obivious is we have 4 big boy conferences and 4 conference champs. There is your playoff, PAC vs B1G and SEC vs Big12. You even have 4 CCG's so now you have an 8 team playoff. Everybody else can go out in the fall and run a team out onto the field in front of a half full 50,000 seat stadium and wait until basketball season starts. Not sure if it's a good thing, but that's how I see it. I Agree. If people aren;t making the pot bigger to justify their share and adding to the shares of the others, they are odd man out. I don't think people will go to 16 unless they see value. We are mostly past what makes sense for good, regional based, rvialry based, college football. I still think they are going to diminish their product and don't like it, but it is what it is.
  21. This did not pan out like you thought. All 3 tiers of the ACC are worth $17MM, and that is after a lot of ramping up. Anyone leaving the ACC gets over $3MM more from this, plus maybe $4MM from tier 3, plus money from this new SEC bowl, plus likely share of national final four Money, plus additional funds from base contract if big draws are added and a championship game is put back, etc.... I think they are looking at $10MM or more, maybe $15MM, than if they stay in the ACC when you look at all the funds. Obviously a lot of this is speculation, but the Big 12's financial situation is good and getting incredibly better fast.
  22. My understanding is that all the current Big 12 schools have signed away their tv rights for 6 years, about to go to 13. IF we left, our rights would stay behind (except 3rd tier) I don't think anyone can leave the Big 12 now. That was the cornerstone of people starting to come and not leave.
  23. This game is not part of any playoff. The best team in each conference that does not make the "Final Four" would be the participants. Look at some of the horrible Sugar Bowl matchups those guys were getting (Hawaii? Cinci?) and it sort of makes sense. Also, it establishes who the 4 power conferences will be and opens up the SEC's desired raid on Virginia Tech and an NC school (NC State or UNC). I think it also cinches up the liklihood of Fla State and Clemson to the Big 12, maybe nmore to follow. I think the Big 10 may get in there too. Maybe it hold . steady, but I see the ACC getting ripped up and then backfilled with the likes of Louisville, UConn, Rutgers and maybe CIncinatti. THe ACC may end up being more filled with old Big East teams than ACC ones. Anyway, who knows, all speculation.
  24. Well, we are 15-4 in the previous 5 tourneys and we missed the sweet 16 once. Remember, basketball is a tad more unpredictable than football, especially since the addition of the 3 point shot, so the best team does not always win. The championship team with Manning on it really was not that great, but they won, so it sort of averages out The Helms titles were legit, they were the main organization to get one from in Basketball before they had the tournament. Those were legit teams too, I think it is really the only "championship" anyone claims pre-NCAA, at least to my knowledge. If you go to the Tar Heael's website, they are also happy to cite their 1924 Helms National Title, so it's not like we just made it up and other major programs ignore theirs (although I am not sure what all other programs think, I checked UNC because they have lots of titles). Anyhow, we have a good team this year, we are around the 4th to 8th best team. If we win it, it may not be that we are the best, but if you keep getting good shots at it, you will take some titles. That is just how a single elimination Basketball tourney plays out...
