  1.

Suddenly everyone's an expert on Black Lives Matter. Except their "takes" seem to mirror what you'd hear on Brietbart, Hannity, Fox News...

I'm guessing a lot of folks here don't know anyone involved with BLM, but are pretty sure they know what BLM is all about.

what is it about, enlightened one?

When we say Black Lives Matter, we are broadening the conversation around state violence to include all of the ways in which Black people are intentionally left powerless at the hands of the state. We are talking about the ways in which Black lives are deprived of our basic human rights and dignity.

Like having your entire race run by the Department of the Interior (the ones that are in charge of wildlife and national parks - so basically the wild animals)... wanna take a guess who falls in that category? It's not blacks!

  2.

The BLM movement is a Marxist organization that seeks to redistribute wealth under the guise that there is a moral debt owed.

Even if this were true, which it is not, explain to me exactly how that isn't fair?

White America stole from, enslaved, and profited massively at the expense of blacks. Millions, billions, trillions of dollars worth of labor and wealth accumulated by whites at the expense of blacks. When have black people ever had any reparations made to them for any of this? When has our country ever made up for any of the negative effects of racism and segregation?

Seriously.... Native Americans were wronged far more than any other demographic. Its not correct to say all slaves were black, because they weren't. IF you do for one, then you do for all... but you don't do anything until the treaties and lands are given back to the indigenous people... ffs.

  3. Homecoming is always an exciting game. I am hoping there is a revenge factor that will motivate this team a bit more than the negative news from last week's win. 5 and 0 sure sounds like a good way to head into the BYE week... Hoping to see more Diedrick Young, that kid is a beast at stopping runners dead in their tracks. Take no win for granted... grind it out Red!

    Illini - 15

    NU - 40

  4. There is only one race, the human one... and until that FACT is embraced, there will always be divide. The owners like it that way, in numbers comes power... united we stand, divided we fall... guess those patriotic ramblings were just made up because they sounded neat.

lock this thread... Husker football is the topic, this protest bullsh*t doesn't belong on a football thread.

  5. :dunno He's not wrong....

I was saying the same thing under the "Turning Point" thread... feel good wins are not cutting it in the playoff system

Turning point is winning the conference, period. 16 years without a conference championship is too long to say any one game during the regular season is a turning point. Anything less is just "ice cream" winning. Don't get me wrong, glad to see the team turning the corner... it's time to put the pedal to the metal and win this thing.

  6. Posted in the other thread, so delete if deemed unnecessary but Les pretty much said he's already considered coming up here.

Interview with Les Miles, at the 6:30 mark asked if he would return to coaching, paraphrasing: "I have a young son committed to a Big Ten conference team, a very quality one, I think I could find something to do"

I got the same feel... Ben is committed and that is no secret. I wouldn't be the least be surprised if we see a position created to get Miles' expertise at DONU. But if he isn't coming to coach, I am sure the current staff will be picking his brain when Ben does come because Les will be rooting for us then.

  7. Win conference title and get to playoff, it's not even a question. You get like a month publicity of being one of the final four teams. Would totally change narrative around the program.

The other option would be like Iowa's season last year, but with the bowl win. Would that really have changed much in the grand scheme of things?

Spot on... Iowa got to the Rose bowl and had nothing to show for it... that sucked so bad for Iowa they had to make "feel good" 12-0 rings, they would have been better off with ring pops, those big babies!

  8. Another scholly just opened up... if someone doesn't want to be here, it's best for all parties to move on and live by their choices.

Hate to see kids leave the program, for any reason, but those situations are between the player(s) and the University/Staff.

    Good luck, Cherry.

  9. When did God die and who was appointed successor? He is a man, man makes mistakes. Where was the outrage over the manslaughter of Sam? A crime is a crime is a crime... this is such a bullsh#t story about a good man trying his best to make the program the best. Did cocaine Carl feel this backlash after his infidelities? Did Banderas get chased with pitchforks and torches?

This is between Williams and the University. All this negativity is garbage... be consistent if you are going to judge your fellow man, that is how God did it... before he apparently died.

  10. I like what is happening now. When the W's come, the love for this staff will follow. Either way, I'm N and keep buying my tickets.

2015 was brutal and exposed the previous staff's shortcomings under a microscope... that part sucked; but it's over and the future seems bright.

  11. All offseason we heard how fundamentals would be fixed, how anyone could win 9 here and how big of an upgrade we got.

Well we no doubt got an upgrade. The fundamentals wer meh in glaring spots. And we already dropped a game in hopes of continuing to win 9.

We didn't get blown out, we had the game won, we just didn't finish. We will get better, things are gonna be fine. But man oh man was that a brutal finish. I'm just not okay with it and I can't sugar coat my disappointment.

I'm with you. I hate seeing this team lose and I refuse to settle and say I'm ok with a home loss, or any loss... they play to win...so win red, WIN!

  12. We are seriously back to that argument? BYU beats us after we miss two field goals, cough up the ball in silly fashion a couple times, and fail to prevent a hail mary in a prevent defense and now BYU is a playoff team???

    Or...

Nebraska was just not a playoff team, and we got beat by a team/staff that has been together since we hired our last coach on a fluke last second effort.

    this...
