POB probably won't be Josh Rosen, but prime example of a true freshman QB coming in and playing pretty solid. POB will make some little plays with his feet as well, but will look more like Beathard running than TA. Armstrong's spins out of the pocket also got him in trouble some of the times where he lost track of WRs or fell in the DEs lap.

I don't understand why people don't want a QB here that can THROW the ball. A few more completions and 7 less INTs would have won us an extra 2-3 games this season.

    Armstrong

    2,856 yards - 54.8%

    21 TDs, 16 INTs

    Rosen

    3,351 yards - 59.5%

    20 TDs, 9 INTs

Husker fans bitched, whined, complained and begged for Ozborne to throw the ball more. Now the most knowledgeable fans in college football want Nebraska to run the ball more. Just goes to show that there are more stupid Nebraska fans than knowledgeable fans. Plenty post here.

I'm about fed up with your ass kissing Riley at all costs BS. I, and most posters hereabouts, can acknowledge both sides of the coin. Yes, Tommy and some of the players had their shortcomings but, if you can't see where Langsdorf and Riley and Banker also failed with game management and play calling issues, you might need to re-watch our games and get a little smarter yourself. Your shtick is getting old.

It took 9 games for the players to buy in, when they did, Nebraska played pretty well. The coaches did the best they could until that happened. I get plenty tired of the Nebraska staff and administration haters like you. To bad you don't like the team you claim to be a fan of instead of spewing hate and discontent about them.

Well, that shows what you know......not much. I like Riley. I like Langsdorf. I like Eichorst. I don't hate them. But I don't blindly worship every step they take and I can recognize the mistakes they made. What's your excuse?

Don't need an excuse, I see the progress they have made with the talent they have had to work with. The bitchers like you and others I have no use for. If they have failed in 4 years, then I will be there to hold their feet to the fire. I will not call for them to be fired after 3 games like many of the dolts that post here.

  2. We have 3 NFL caliber athletes, around 15 Division I athletes, and around 20 walk on caliber.

I cant link via mobile. I read the Journal Star article, OWH has one too.

Epley says Phillips is doing best he can but we need 1.5 years to get the talent we need.

I have said this all year long, nice to have someone respected in the state to back up that opinion.

  3. Plain and simple we need more talent up front. Interior 3 didn't cut it this year. Gates was solid and Lewis was decent.

I think Lewis had more mistakes and penaltys than any other lineman. Cav has has a year to mold the young guys, I think there is some talent there to work with. Whom ever win the jobs, I do think we will be better up front than this year.

We have the best recruiting staff that Nebraska has ever had

they haven't even completed a class yet let alone been here long enough to see if the players work out. At first I thought you were just trying to anger the pessimistic fans but I'm starting to think you are in love with Riley

Maybe I should have said that we have the best, most organized, and though staff that we have ever had, if we have ever had better, feel free to name them but that would be impossible.

Solich was fired to prevent being mediocre. We have had 12 consecutive seasons that were not as good as 2003. When do you think the Huskers will have a season as good or better than 2003?

Didn't Solich get fired for bedding a cheerleader?

No. That's a lie put out by the Pedey propaganda machine. If it was true, Pedey would've put it on the front pages of every newspaper in the state. Since it wasn't, he had to rely on his seedy network of minions and shills.

Its true........... but I don't think she was a cheerleader.

Unless you were actually there in the bedroom or wherever it allegedly happened and watched them do it, then your opinion has no merit.

And your saying it was a lie has even less merit, so there us that. If you put Carl Pelini and Frank Solich in a sack and shook them up and dumped it out, I doubt you could tell them apart.

I never said it was a lie.

Are there other things I didn't say you'd like to discuss?

Sorry, Redneck said it was a lie, hard to tell you two apart.

  13. Until we hire a top-notch coach/recruiter who in turn assembles a top-notch staff, I really don't see us breaking out of the lull we're currently in. Therefore, I predict us to be pretty much in the same situation we're in now, still making excuses, still wondering why other programs are excelling and passing us by.

Open your eyes man, they are already here.

  14.

Hard to tell until we find out who the coach will be.

What are the chances Riley will the head coach for more than two more seasons? I would put them at less than 20%. With next year's schedule and some of the coaching blunders we saw this year, it is hard for me to see a significant improvement in record. A repeat of this year will get MR either fired after next year or a seat that is so hot in 2017 that only a conference title game appearance would save his job.

I would stay away from Vegas if I were you.

Ive done fine in vegas, thank you.

How much are you willing to bet Riley is the coach in the Year 2018?

Not a bettin man but I am 100% sure he will be here in 2018

Sorry to tell you, but Solich had already achieved mediocrity. Pederson tried to reverse that but he could not.

Solich was making moves to correct things. Remember he actually fired the DC & pulled in Pelini to be the DC in 2003. Solich was in the NC game in 2001. Yes, Miami kicked the crap out of NU that year, but this was a '01 Canes team that most consider a top 5 all-time team. Most on this board would put them only behind the '95 & '71 Husker teams.

IMO Perlman & Pederson were the direct downfall to NU football. They listened to the talking heads & made the decison that ended the offensive identity to NU football & it has never recovered.

    ^This times 1 million.

Agree. Firing Solich was the biggest mistake ever made in college football.

And yet he had trouble finding a job until a MAC school took a chance on him. Guess all those P5 AD's were fools.

My memory may be a bit foggy, but I remember several colleges who had interest in Solich who were higher profile than Ohio. Just about every writer and pundit was left scratching their head after the firing...

Army was the only one I remember, not a P5 school though, only the uninformed were left scratching

This is not about current recruiting...its about history.

    Bill Callahan's 2005 recruiting class:

    2 Five Star ***** players

    11 Four Star **** players

    12 Three Star *** players

Ranked 5th in the nation recruiting class for the year... and included Ndamukong Suh It was Nebraska's highest ranked recruiting class in the last 15 years.

Frank Solich's last recruiting class before Callahan was hired... ranked 58th.

Callahan might not have been a very good coach ?... but he was a recruiting mastermind.

    Oh, say its not true..........

CM certainly will, even with the facts staring him in the face.

CM knows waaaay more about football than you do.

That has certainly not been the case,,

That would not have fixed the poor recruiting, Adding another poor recruiter in Pelini was not a fix and Solich could not close a screen door.

Solich's '04 class was #14 on Rivals the day he was fired.

Despite all the conventional wisdom about everyone having "20/20 Hindsight", I've discovered that a lot of self proclaimed Husker fans simply do not possess such accurate hindsight.

I would be an exception as has been proven over and over.
