We had some pretty good basketball recruits over the last few years that we had to turn away because of admission standards at NU.

I understand that he was kicked off because he (allegedly) smacked his girlfriend around.

Very few have lowered expectations, I expect 3 losses or less. 408 was a boorish dick that had long since worn out his welcome.

It sounds like he may have moved on. He has not participated in 7 on 7 this summer.

This happens with the beat reporters in a lot of different cities, covering a lot of different sports. They have better access than the average fan, see a lot of stuff first hand and get a lot of reliable second-hand scuttlebutt. Some of it's the little stuff that happens in every locker room. Some of it can get pretty nasty, even actionable. But their job depends on their ability to maintain access, so they merely hint at discord rather than spell it out. So they get accused of being chippy and having agendas, and maybe they do. But more often than not, they are holding back. Chatelain and others were actually being diplomatic. The Bay Area sports reporters did a similar dance around Jim Harbaugh during his days at Stanford and the SF 49ers. You had to read between the lines. Bo was worse than anything they ever wrote about him.

 

I always imagine the person who leaked the first Pelini tape as someone who had been around Bo plenty, watched him say deplorable things, and then had conversations with Husker fans who defended Bo's fiery personality, not knowing how petty, self-pitying and vicious his wrath could be. He or she thought they were doing us a favor, speeding up the departure of a man who clearly didn't want to be there. But most folks here went the other direction, wanting to out "The Leaker" as cowardly and disloyal. We got two more seasons and an even worse exit speech out of Bo.

 

I'm sure it will never enter Bo Pelini's mind, but Nebraska fans and media treated him better than he deserved.

 

If fans would have focused on the message instead of the messenger, we might have been rid of that sh!# storm sooner

I don't understand how people think there are not Husker fans predicting under 9 wins while at the same time telling everyone what a huge upgrade this staff is and how a bag of poop could coach the Huskers to 9 wins.

 

Heck ALL we heard last year was how a bag of poop could coach the team to 9 wins. Why are people pretending like that is not the case?

But can he coach the team to 9 wins without stinking the place up, the last one couldn't. I expect Riley can.

Where's your evidence of Bo going at recruiting begrudgingly? Just because he didn't talk about it constantly on twitter doesn't mean he did it begrudgingly. It just wasn't his style to do things out in the open for the fans to see. And he had a #11 class.

Maybe he did not go about recruiting "begrudgingly" but I think the first 4 years are proof of that. but you may remember this quote from the coach at UNK. No, that is not Kentucky, it is University of Nebraska at KEARNEY! “They’re our biggest competitor, and that should scare them,” Morris said. “How they think they’re going to win the Big Ten recruiting the same guys I am, I have no clue.”

I decided to post in this thread first, because I have not been this excited about an upcoming football season since 2001. A little about myself, I have been a donor and football season ticket holder for 30 years. I am also

a donor and season ticket holder for Mens Basketball. I have a son and daughter that played college football and volleyball, so I have some insight into the game. I am also friends with a former starting Qb for Nebraska, so

I get some insight into the program from time to time. I was supportive of Frank, Bill and Bo when they were hired, It didn't take but a couple of years to realize that none of them were a good fit for Nebraska. I am excited

about Mike Riley, because I think he is the right guy at the right time. I look forward to talking football with all of you.
