  1. Does Trev already have a coach in place and ready to announce that HC after the Iowa game or is he waiting until after the regular season to interview those HC at other colleges to include MJ?

Was MJ ever a possibility since he said during presser that he has not interviewed for the job yet?

Either way Im not sure if I like the way TA is handling this.  Like every other Husker fan I wish he had been a little more transparent.   But that is why he is tha AD and none of us here on Husker Board are.

So apparently I forgot the part where Smothers played in six games last year.  He's now played in four games this year.  So he's still eligible for a redshirt but can't play any more to do that.

Makes them sending him in for three plays against Illinois look even worse.

Logan is a 4th year Sophomore.  He has already redshirt 1 year plus covid year = 2 more years of eligibility

  3. After Tressel resigned from OSU and Luke Fickell was named the Interim HC prior to the beggining of or shortly after the season began.  Urban was allowed to fill his staff and begin recruiting throughout the season then took over after the season was over.  I just dont remember if Fickell was retained

  4. Should have MJ fired MW after the Illinois loss?

After Casey got hurt, and Chubba and Logan played it was completely obvious to me that neither of the backups were prepared to run the offense at all.  Who's job is it to prepare backup QBs to play if the starter gets hurt?  Mr Obvious says the QB coach.  MW failed in preparing Logan or Chubba.  Failed to recognize that Chubba wasnt getting it done in the 2nd half against Illinois and after the first 2 series against Minnesota.  Refuses to go away from his game plan and utilize Logan to his strengths by using more RPOs.

At this point I would rather have Sean Beckton finish the season as OC rather than wasting any more time with the "Whip"

    What say you?

  5. Here is an Idea.  Hire Vance Joseph, current DC for Az Cardinals and former HC at Denver Broncos, as HC and he assumes duties as DC.  He retains MJ as Asst Head Coach/Passing Game Coordinator/Recruiting Coordinator or even OC.  VJ also brings in brother Sammy Joseph as Stength and Conditioning.  Hires BB as Co DC/ST Coordinator.

I like what Applewhite has done with the running backs so far and seems to be a good recruiter, so I wouldnt mind him sticking around,  and Beckton also

  6. Captain Obvious speaking here on who the next HC should be.

    1.  It should be the person that can get the team to play fast, physical, and disciplined football that controls both offensive and defensive line of scrimmage.

    2.  It should be a person that can hire quality OC and DC coaches that mirror his desire to control the line of scrimmage on thier perspective side of the ball.

    3.  It should be a person smart enough to keep MJ and BB on staff and hire other position coaches that are know for their recruiting acumen.  BB may not be completely ready for a DC position ( I do believe he is close) but he would be a smart keep for ST and DB coach for sure.  I think MJ could thrive as an OC under the right HC, just not quite ready for the NU HC job yet.

    3.  Is a person smart enough to realize we need improvement in the strength and conditioning department (see item #1)

Now who the perfect fit for those three items?  Hell if I know, Im just and old retired Army dude that loves the Huskers and want them back on winning season, bowl game every year, conference championship and CFP every few years track.

    Not asking much

  7. This is why we play the games on Saturday and not mail it in and wait for next year.  Stop worring about 3 more wins in six games.  Worry about Purdue this Saturday.  Play one game at a tome and try to get better each week.

So far our defense looks like like they are getting better and hope that continues going forward.

Yes Bill Busch was our ST coach before he was promoted to DC, but he is more than a ST coach and has plenty of experience to be a DC.

MJ was the recievers coach and Associate Head Coach.  He may not have the experience as a HC but he is getting the players to play faster and the team has not given up.

Mike Tyson and Muhammad Ali both got beat by bad fighters, so the Huskers will always have a chance to take one away from a team that they are nnot supposed to

  8. I think the smart thing to do is the same thing Ohio State did when they hired Urb.  Had Luke Fickell at HC for rest of the year while Urb assembled his staff then spent the remaining time on the recruiting trail for the rest of the season.  Obviously it will only work this way if Trev hires a HC who is not currently coaching.

Other than Urb, what other coaches are available at this point?

  9. Hello HuskerBoard.  It has been a long time since I have been on here.  I am sure there are many changes and look forward to catching up with it all.

No back to topic, do any of you program insiders have any idea what the real reason for the sudden "retirement" of the AD is?  Affair, DUI, pending NCAA violation investigation, health problems?  It all seams strange and nothing is in print.

    Thanks in advance guys,

    Wan’Dale hasn’t given up, so I won’t.

It also take a few years to build an o line from scratch.   I think Scott’s job will get a lot easier when he has more seniority up front.

Exactly.  A RSF center that never played center in his life and a former walk on replacing Seniors and a JR that hasnt played much before this year replacing a 3rd senior from last year's team.

Rob, how do you feel about the 3-4.

Ive never liked the 3-4, but i grew up watching the huskers dominate with the 4-3.

It didnt take a coachung change to switch from the 5-2 that Nebraska ran to the 43, it did however take a change in philosophy.  McBride did it who says Chins cant.  This team needs continuity not constant turn over.

Look at NU DL in the 90s and compare them to now.  The davis twins and Daniels look fat and out of shape in comparison.  Either one of the Peter brothers whould have scored a td on that int.

  12. the more i listen to it, the more i like it and i think that it would be great between the 3rd and 4th qtrs with the new sound system and lyrics on the big screen. not "Jump Around" like the Badgers, more like the Neil Diamond song that they sing at Fenway Park in Boston,
