  1. http://www.omaha.com/huskers/shatel-debacle-at-purdue-speeds-up-husker-timetable-for-mike/article_8814d8cb-fc53-57be-b61b-01484b7d79c0.html

He had my until this line:

"Neither Eichorst nor Riley is getting fired and shouldn’t. The Nebraska job would become radioactive in the coaching frat."

    This just kills me...........

  2. I remember almost 10 years ago, one day, Riley turned around a 5-6 season to a 10-4 season. And this was after he produced a 8-5 and 7-5 season. Keep hope. This staff has been proven to be very very good. They have produced 1 10 win season in 12 seasons. I think by 2025 when Riley is just 73 years young, we may get to that 10 win season.

  3. I was told 3 games was too early. And then 4 games was too early.

Is 5 too early? Or can we judge them now?

You can't judge for another 8 years. All of Bo's guys have to graduate and then every single player has to be recruited by Riley until every Freshman thru Senior is Riley's boy. Then, and only then can you judge. until then, you have to accept 2-10, 5-7, 5-6 type of seasons and you can't comment on coaching because some player on the roster, wasn't recruited by Riley, is on the roster. Until then, it's not really *his* program. You also have to forget what Stoops did in year 1.

    (j/k)

  4. They can't. That wasn't a bootleg run, it was a pass play. The staff threw the QB under the bus.

I can't help but think you're right, especially after reading the Shat's take on the matter:

"Riley and offensive coordinator Danny Langsdorf said they called a run, a quarterback sweep. both said Armstrong was told there were not "route options." No passing, please. Both surmised that armstrong was surprised when defender Eric Finney went after him. Finley was supposed to be taken out of the play . . . . . ."

No comment from Tommy Gun. :confucius

  5. I don't know if you can expect a Stoops like year out of 98% of the NCAA coaches. I would agree with a lot of folks that you wait until he gets his guys and it's truly "his" team. So the real question is-Is Coach happy go lucky the man to accomplish where we want to be??

I predict a break even season.

    BYU-L

    Southern Alabama-W

    Miami-L

    Southern Miss-W

    Illinois-W

    Wisconsin-L

    Minnesota-L

    Northwestern-W

    Purdue-W

    Michigan State-L

    Rutgers-W

    Iowa-L

    6-6

Coach's poll: Happiest coach in the Big 10.

  6. That Memphis fight was something else. I have friends who are members of the church and who attended BYU. It's a strict place like Liberty or Oral Roberts and is know for dress codes and a campus atmosphere straight out of Leave it to Beaver. I can't help but wonder if a lot of the players in the fracas were out and out church members, or who were simply brought in to play football(i.e.-Jim McMahon is Catholic and attended BYU) BYU is a good team and day in and day out, they can just about surprise anyone they play. Loved how they zinged Texas a few years back. It was an upset but I saw that one coming.

  7. Thank you alex for lumping the 97% of all the excellent fans with perspective that would support you through anything with the 3% of asshats that arent even real fans anyway. Appreciate it. As if yesterdays game didnt already tell us this, the Bo Pelini mentality is still engrained in this culture. The neggy culture of embracing the little bit of bad over ghe tons of good and using that as a finger pointing tool. Gonna be a process to fully purge it.

Part of me really wants to criticize him and get all up in arms about it. Yes, he's a team captain and he knows the program. With that being said, has anyone ever done or said something stupid when they were in their twenties?? Social media compounds moments of stupidity that we all have.

  8. An average team is going to go out and lose some games.

Some fans are going to be upset.

We've got to live and let live. There is simply no arguing with the above.

Wiser words haven't been spoken. We're a decent, mediocre average team with a good mannered coach. Bottom line.

  9. In regards to the debates

The earlier jv debate-George Pataki should be a democrat. He is allergic to the base with this views. He's an old Rockefeller Republican and belongs with the dinosaurs.

varsity debate-Trump held his own and "won" in my estimation. Carly Florina continues to make progress an to provide a compelling case. I don't know if Trump will be the nominee yet. The last go around, Rick Perry led the polls and the election before that, Rudy Giuliana dominated the polls around this time of year. We all know what came of that.....

Trump was right-Jeb's millions is due to the Koch brothers, not due to a broad case of regular Joe support. He should stop denying that fact.

  10. 1. players tend to break their personal records against this defense

    2. again, a near comeback shadows people's minds about how bad this team played (MSU from last year anyone?)

    3. people blamed the sloppy play on Bo's demeanor, well this team plays as sloppy

    4. Mike Riley is gonna fail at NU and it's not gonna be pretty

    Awesome points, I agree entirely.

(1)Our defense is porous. The media talking heads at the OWH and LJS could have been more upfront about that before the season began. . . . . or after the first game.

    (3) & (4)-All we can say now at 1-2 is; "At least our coach is a nice guy." I'm amazed at the number of people who are content with that.
