  1. I cannot wait for this game.

It's payback time for one of the ugliest, most embarrassing losses by the Huskers on National TV in 5 years at least. Had the Badgers not taken the foot off the gas, Gordon would have rushed for almost 600 yards. And they would have scored close to 80.

Come on Huskers - it's payback time! Games in Lincoln! Let's do this!

    GBR!

Bah...we're gonna get smacked around, run over, and scored on - lots.

  2. I have been trying to figure out what I think about this years team/coaches and I cant help but wonder if Bo and his staff just got lucky last year and this "fallout" was already in place. First of all we are no better than 7-6 last year without Ameer. He saved our ass in the McNeese State game and the overtime win against Iowa. Ameer's pure heart won those games. Not our sh**ty defense, and it for sure wasn't the play calling!! Ameer alone made last years team. Secondly, Bo's recruiting was sub-par, we lacked staff with great resumes, and in my opinion our strength and conditioning was terrible. We returned 15 of those starters this year! They just didnt forget how to play football in 1 offseason! The writing was on the wall. This new staff is doing all they can to save a ship that Bo had already blown too many holes into and was about to sink. Yes, they have had some growing pains with playing calling and some clock management, but for Christ sake maybe the cupboard is just a little too bare. I have faith in this staff and I hope everyone gives them a chance is all. And for the record, I liked Bo...

    No - it wasn't luck.

  3.

A lot of these posts, numerous ones are from people that just opened accounts today or yesterday. Negative, trying to start problems. Give them a week before they can start threads, I think it has been discussed before.

Look down the list, 1 post, 3 posts on and on.

I have been over the forum for quite awhile. So I will conduct myself properly Zoogs, really don't care if I can post or not. But I think Eric and the rest of the mods should start worrying about keeping people on the site than just getting flashers that come to start problems.

I have spent a lot of money to support this site. I am done doing that.

I'm with skersfan. So much so, I logged back into this site just to express this.

    Thanks for sharing :leghump:

  4.

It's strange that you guys don't have anything at all to contribute to Huskerboard when things are going well. But as soon as we run into adversity, and take a sh**ty loss, you're all over the board taking victory laps. Just strange. :dunno:

Also, I thought the Shawn Eichorst thread with absolutely nothing to say in the OP was the dumbest thread I'd seen in a couple years. Until I opened this thread.

Well, I'm right there with you. I opened the Eichorst thread first and....well......

  5. I don't care about the past staff but i am very concerned about the game management and lack of progress on both sides of the ball. This staff has many years of experience coaching football and can't or won't run the ball to take time off the clock. The BIG is an old school football conference. This is due to the weather in October, November in the midwest. We all know you need to run the ball and put a D on the field that can stop the run. What happened to we are going to play to the strength of the players in the program? I don't think this staff understands what it takes to win in the BID 10 conference.

Yep...pretty simple concepts here that you would think they would have discussed at length before offering this guy his contract.

  6.

That depends on what "good" coaches you think we can "afford" by the Nov/Dec timeframe.

Are you thinking we can hire Chip Kelly when the Eagles fire him?

Like last year when people said we could get Jim Harbaugh when the 49'ers let him go.

We're not getting Chip. More than likely, he'll either go to Texas or Miami. Can anyone think of a logical reason anyone with any credentials at all would even consider a job here given we just fired a coach who won at least 9 games each season he was here and we fired his replacement at the end of one season? Given those circumstances, I'd think almost anyone would run from this job if this were to occur.

There are a few NFL coaches with college coaching experience that might be worth pursuing

  7. Well, between this and you not going to the game, I think it is official......The end of the world is at hand. Locusts, inclement weather, bodies of water turning to blood, all the worst parts of the Bible...... And you informed us first. Thank you.

Nah...I just thought it was interesting that they even track this stuff. Never mind.

  8. Serious question, I know that there are numerous threads on what he is/did do wrong, but I want to know what makes/made him the tight choice.

I'll admit I wasn't a fan of the hire, I had to google his name and then read some about him and was even less inthused. His record, scheme etc.... With that in mind, I figured support him and the team until I'm proven otherwise.

Flash back to the hiring and firing. With all of the "big time" guys available what made Riley stand out? Was it his demeanor (the Anti-Bo)?

    Was it his experience?

Was it the cost of hiring him?

    His style of offense?

Ability to do more with less?

    West coast recruits?

I'm asking as I really didn't see anything then they made me say "great hire". For full disclosure, I bought into the idea of more experience equaled another win or two. I believed the "more with less" and the scheming to the talent and abilities of the guys...

So what made him the guy? I really have no idea.

I don't think our A.D. understood Husker football when he hired Riley. Maybe he "gets it" now, but the damage has been done (Riley and staff should never have been hired)

  9. Okay, other than a few little posts and things I've been pretty quiet around here but enough is enough. I don't care who you are, how much you paid for your tickets or how long you've been a fan: you do NOT have the right to boo the team. It is low class and an embarassment to the rest of the fan base. Some of you make it sound like when you purchased your tickets, you believe that you also purchased the right to publicly bully the kids. You'd best read that fine print again because that's not included in the ticket. It's not included in decent moral adult human behavior. If you don't like what's going on with the team or on the field** then don't buy those tickets. Don't come to the game. THAT'S how you express your displeasure to the University.

**Other than extremely bad calls by the refs. We have no particular allegiance to them. However, I will say, I have known some refs and they were darn fine people and they took a lot of crap from know-it-alls and rabid fans.

    Get a grip, folks!

Nope, booing isn't bullying...not even close. I'm staying home on Saturday and my family's seats will be empty, so I guess I'll just boo at the tv.

At this point in time, the Program looks weaker than ever before...what a shame...we could have hired so many higher skilled coaches back in January (unless the big bucks really aren't there anymore - information that none of us would be privy to)

  10. It is true. There is no way Riley is fired after this season.

However, Riley most certainely can just retire after this season. I am sure Riley is not use to this heat he is getting, he is probably mind blown at the fact he is getting so much heat 5 games into the season for losing. A 2-3 record at Oregon State and no one says a word, because no one cares.

And he may retire. You look at the heat he is getting just 5 games into the season, the fact that his demeanor on the sidelines is a "I dont really care" Seriously, his headset mic is never down, it's always up. Reminds me of Brady Hoke at Michigan not even wearing a head set. And his hands are always in his sweat shirt pockets as he just strolls the sidelines, talking to no one, coaching no one.

It isn't a fire Riley movement that will get things going, because firing a coach after 1 season just wont happen. a Retire Riley movement is more fitting.

That would be wonderful (retirement), and would take care of the contract buyout problem.

  11. This is a must-win game for the Badgers...they'll be pumped for this one.

I think this will be a close game, as in whoever wins will do so by less than a touchdown...actually my guess for the contest was Wisc 16 Neb 14

I could see us losing this on the final drive...sick thing is, I almost expect it.

  12.

If people are going to boo at the game I really hope they just don't go. They are kids playing a game they love and want to excel at and deserve better than having a grown adult boo him. Boo a professional team, not a group of kids!!

You probably can't guess how much it costs me for tickets between the 40-50 yard line...if they play & coach like sh*t, I'm booing.

If you boo the team, you are a douchebag and you can go f#*k yourself like StPaul stated earlier.

I don't give a f#*k how much you pay for your tickets, how good your seats, or how important you would like us all to believe you are. Boo the team and you're just a low class douchebag. Pretty simple.

Based on your posting history, I expect you will be booing.....if you even go to the games.

    :leghump:

  13.

TA is the only reason we are not 1-4 right now and the only reason why we didn't get blown out by Miami and you want him benched? That's comical

Tommy is the main reason we have lost 3 games. Don't make me go into it again. Coaching gaffs no doubt, but Tommy can really muck it up sometimes.

I disagree...lots of blame to pass around.

  14. No, he's the best we have. Maybe Darlington is a better passer but he'd be risking his life with the number of concussions he's had.

The problem is the coaching....end of story.

Yep. When a team's starting QB loses faith in his coaches by week 5 and starts to call his own plays...well..."Houston, we have a problem."

  15.

If people are going to boo at the game I really hope they just don't go. They are kids playing a game they love and want to excel at and deserve better than having a grown adult boo him. Boo a professional team, not a group of kids!!

    money can't buy class

Simply pointing out that the backbone of this program (the fans) invest a ton of capital into this program every single year...without fail. With our investment comes expectations with regards to EFFORT and FOCUS from both the coaches and players...if we don't see these two simple yet critical attributes on Saturday (considering what we've been through these first five games), many of us will likely "boo"

Again, I would much rather cheer...but my enthusiasm doesn't keep coming unconditionally.

BTW, I never booed Callahan or Pelini coached teams...not once. But this sh*t-show we have right now is horrid and it doesn't look like this staff has what it takes to turn things around - only a blind fool will deny this.

  16. Look, everyone is hurting here!

I do not agree with those who take joy in posting negatively just to get a rise out of the masses but then again, the way things work in our democracy is, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Best option for all of us who don't like this type of posting is to look away and not feed the issue or give those who are determined to get our goat, the time of day!

If things continue down this same path, I will most likely have to remove myself from posting or reading post for the season. I feel crappy enough already, I sure as heck don't need my nose rubbed in the sh*t just for the sake of being on any board. We have some solid posters, we have some "mega Kool-aid drinkers" and we have some "the sky is falling posters". Can't ban people who have a difference of opinion for that reason alone but Zoogs, if you look at some of the opening post by some of the new members, you can identify those who crawled out from beneath the baseboard and are keying on "Getting a rise" out of spewing their crap without any desire to add to this boards quality. You and the mods are the only ones who can measure ones value to the board and have to make those calls. I know, preaching to the choir.

I'm am done with the rant.

It feels like you didn't really add to the quality of this thread. :moreinteresting

  17. At this point, I don't see us going 6-6. With the games remaining, I see it like this:

    Wisconsin - L

    Minnesota - L

    Northwestern - L

    Purdue - W

    Mich St - L

    Rutgers - W

    Iowa - L

So, being 2-3 now I see us being 4-8 or maybe 5-7. It's going to be a long season.

I agree with your take on the rest of the season except for the Purdue game...I see us losing that one too, putting us at 3-9 for the season.

  18. I'm convinced these guys don't know how to handle running backs. After seeing them call outside runs with Cross the other game, and an outside run with Janovich last game they don't have a clue. For me Janovich should be like what John Kuhn is for the Packers. Line him up at fullback, and when we need to convert a key third and short or a goal line situation you give that kid the ball. He always falls forward and keeps his legs moving.

Yep...that play did it for me too. Running Janovich around end was about as stupid as it gets - further highlighting for me the ineptitude of this staff.

You don't try to stretch a defense with your FB.
