  1. Wrong...likely it was lack of confidence in Tommy by the OC which is why he didn't call aggressive plays in that final drive to get us the first down.
  2. No, I don't think so. Lots of stadiums fill-up nowadays, and fans even show-up for Southern Mississippi. Try again. Which other stadiums have a sell out streak of at least one year. I'll wait...... Ok..so the sell-out record...this makes us the "greatest"?

  4. Yep Anger over losses makes us "great"? So, by this definition, the fans of the Philadelphia Eagles must be the "Greatest Fans of Professional Football"...right?
  5. Ok...what does "greatest" mean to you, in the context of Nebraska football fans?
  6. Not trolling, buddy. I'm as big a fan as you, but obviously, I am much more realistic.
  7. The way we collectively ran Solich, Callahan, Pelini (and probably eventually Riley) out of town...I'm starting to seriously wonder if we. collectively, aren't really The Worst Fans in College Football. I've been as guilty of negativity as anyone. I'm beginning to think that we've been acting like a bunch of over-indulged and entitled idiots for the past 15 years.
  8. I agree - it's all good. Bring on Minnesota!
  9. I've finally accepted who we are as a Program, and will not criticize the coaching staff or administration. We are an average college football program - we have been ever since we fired Solich. We're like Minnesota, Iowa, and Northwestern now - some years suck and some years are great, but never again will we consistently dominate. GBR! Bring on the rest of the schedule! Edit: P.S. I don't believe the Program has the financial resources it has purported to have in the past...I believe this talk was all a ruse, and Riley is probably the highest level of coach that we can afford at this time.
  10. and yet the crowd sounded as loud as I've ever heard them. Hmmmm..........it's too bad not everybody is buying into your bullsh#t, or your story would be a lot easier to tell huh? Just give it a few more weeks. If we end up 2-10 or 3-9, I can see many season ticket holders deciding not to renew (I know I won't) How was the traffic this evening? Didn't attend (as promised earlier this week)

  12. Much wailing and gnashing of teeth from those of us who reside directly north of Kansas.
  13. Both...and it's ok if the search takes 2-3 months. (I'm staying away until Oct. 31, unless I feel the need to respond to direct questions to me from other members here)
  14. Next time I post will be Halloween night...after we're 0-5 in October and 2-7 overall. Maybe some of you kool-aid drinkers will have woken up by then. Peace!
  15. If you could hit rewind right now, go back in time, and we re-sign Bo to a new 10 year contract versus firing him and hiring Riley...would you be ok with that? My answer: YES
  16. Unless a miracle occurs, Nebraska will go at best 5-7 this year. Which is worse than any of the above coaches that eventually turned out well. We will lose to Northwestern, Iowa, Michigan State and Wisconsin... If we play like we did at Illinois we may also lose to Minnesota and Rutgers... Don't forget Purdue. There are no guaranteed wins this year.
  17. They sure do - almost every season where they start with momentum.
  18. I don't think this week end is so critical so long as we play well (competitive). Most or nearly all fans expected the Wisconsin game as a loss or maybe a toss up because it was home and for those who thought we had a chance before the season began, it was because they over estimated the capability of the team. We have a number of players who have played winning level football at times. Really NONE have played at that level all the time yet. Only a few have played that way most of the time. Many have played winning football perhaps half the time and quite a few albeit a minority have played well perhaps 1 play out of 4. The key is to not lose the team - and by that I mean to have the team keep its collective head up and play hard and keep on plugging away in practice to get smoother, better, and play faster as the repetitions allow them to react more instinctively and without hesitation and stopping to think about things so much. It needs to become routine and instantaneous and not a delay or pause while the mind processes and decisions are made as to where to go and what to do in a given situation. If Riley (thanks in large part to the great mass of hysterical fans bashing each and all concerned) loses the team's faith and confidence, the losses will come as naturally as the sun rises each morning. This team does not deserve the fans' harsh criticism at this point. Each and every player on this team has played well and done good things at times as well as being normal and making a few mistakes so far. Obviously, penalties have really hurt and killed many drives and aided the opponents' in their drives. These are dramatic impacts in the overall tone, statistics and impression of the games for the fans' evaluations. Keeping opponents' drives alive makes the half time stats look even when maybe they should have been a bit more lopsided in the Huskers' favor. This in turn has an effect on the fans and pundits' opinions and rightfully so. But, the team is still capable of playing MUCH better football when the players, the coaches, the fans, the medical staff, etc. get it all put together. Too many injuries have hurt the performances. Opponents have had injuries too but we lost some key players in key positions at key times. All this added up to enough to keep the games close and allow three opponents (two on the road by the way) to pull off last second wins. All is not lost people. Give this team a little more time to come around and be fair to the players at least. No matter how much you don't care about the Coaches, the players deserve to be encouraged and enabled and support in every way we can. We as fans can do better than simply gripe and complain and bitch and moan and piss around all the time. Most members on this board expressed the willingness to give the coaches time and support during the transition. Perhaps that was just lip service and insincere. If so, then you were wrong and remain wrong. Give the team a chance. Let's support the players and encourage. It can't hurt! We're going to lose to Wisconsin...unless they are flat from getting beat by Iowa last week. The real test for this staff will be against Minnesota the following week...if we can't beat them, then we are truly a doormat team.
  19. IF we file em all... we need to start with Harvey Pearlman; under his watch the program/school has taken some major hits. He is the one who keeps hiring bad AD's (except Tom who he hired to fix the Callahan mess, problem is Tom probably wont come back to an even worse Riley mess) and lets not forget NU got kicked out of a prestigious academic program on his watch. we're the only Big Ten School not a member. in fact, that membership was a requirement to join the big ten. here is the really big problem, who would take the NU gig knowing we regularly fire winning coaches? Bo's behavior aside, he was 9-3 for 7 years. most of us would take that in a minute. Agreed. This isn't directed at you, Moneyball, but to others - it's Perlman. Not Pearlman. Second, for as much heat as we'd all like to throw on Perlman, he's actually done a lot of great things for the university as Chancellor. Trying to paint him as a burden on the university grossly misrepresents the job he has done. I'm not saying that to excuse some of his flubs with the football program, but, to illustrate that he's done plenty of positive things to go with the bad. Third, I get sick and tired of people saying 'who would take the NU job' knowing we regularly fire coaches? Well, a lot of people would still take the job. Coaches understand the nature of the business and they understand the expectations associated with being a head coach at these programs. Furthermore, a lot of other coaches would understand the firing of any coach here if they were no better than .500. That doesn't fly at Nebraska and people get that. I'm also somewhat shocked people keep excluding Bo's behavior and suggesting he would otherwise be the head coach here. His behavior certainly didn't help, but do some of us really have that short term of memory? Some Pelini coached teams hold a significant amount of the worst defensive performances this program has ever seen. He never won a conference title in 7 years as head coach, his teams routinely melted down in big games and - despite being here 7 years - was never able to build a consistent strength along the offensive/defensive lines and his teams were turnover prone. Bo may have won nine games a year, and that's not an easy task. And while his behavior was a big part of his firing, don't forget that as a team we were pretty much treading water for 7 seasons. All these factors considered - it was time to head a new direction. Looks like it's that time again.
  20. This. As of now, Jano is one of the top 2-3 options at running the ball for us. Ideally those guys are all RBs, but when you have a solid player and need to provide stability in the ground game, can't complain. He might not get 11 carries every game. Guess it depends on how things are going with the other backs. Would anyone have any issues if Imani Cross were the one getting 11 carries? Basically, Janovich has become the "big, short-yardage situation RB" instead of Cross. My preference would be that our backs who have breakaway speed and who can find the holes get the ball often. Jano is a great fullback, and Cross is a solid short-yardage back, but those guys shouldn't be getting the ball very often if the offense is working. Jano had his great game against Southern Miss because he was completely unexpected...this won't happen again this season. I have nothing further to add to this topic...damn, this season is so f*cked.
