The teams Bo beat had a combined winning record of 50-63 (.442). The teams he lost to had a combined record of 39-14 (.736). The teams Riley has beaten so far have a combineD record of 6-4 (.600). The teams that he has lost to so far have a combined record of 10-4 (.714). So far, every team that Nebraska has played has a winning record, which doesn't mean much right now obviously. Just something to look at.

What about overall? This is not Riley's first year as a HC

It is here and that's what matters

Yeah...and here he is under .500 which is even worse than his career record.

Very doubtful....If he couldn't stop the run with NU athletes what makes you think he could do it with Purdues?

Who the hell would want to come coach at Nebraska. Just look at all this crazy after 5 games.

I don't see anything "crazy," just a lot of well-warranted concern.

If we keep hiring and firing coaches we will turn into the college version of the "Raiders"

  3. At this point I'd be all in for going after Frost......but the shenanigans among Perlman, Eichorst and Osborne might make it messy.

Why the love for Frost? If he wasn't from Nebraska would he even be on the radar??

Lets be realistic MR coaching at Oregon State would be equal to Bo coaching at Purdue. How do you think Bo's record would be if his tenure was at Purdue compared to NU

  5. I was a Bo backer until last year. When I saw Melvin Gordon go for 408 in three quarters. The Iowa and Michigan St debacle were all in the same. Bo beat the teams he was supposed to and got boat raced in the big games. I guess don't forget that one loss every year no one saw coming (Minnesota, Northwestern)

Bo inherited a roster full of talent can't say the same for Riley.

I don't see how lack of talent lost the Illinois game.

If we switched uniforms with Illinois. I would have taken their DE's, RB,s over ours. Premium positions that should not even be compared to an Illinois let alone them having the better players

TA is the only reason we are not 1-4 right now and the only reason why we didn't get blown out by Miami and you want him benched? That's comical

Tommy is the main reason we have lost 3 games. Don't make me go into it again. Coaching gaffs no doubt, but Tommy can really muck it up sometimes.

Yup you're right Tommy should have been out there for the last play to knock down the hail mary against BYU. Tommy was the main reason we even went to overtime against Miami. And to pin that loss on him for Illinois give me a break

  8. Talent reasons alone - I think there's an argument to bench him because his accuracy is bad, his decision making is questionable, and he really looks like a RB trying to play QB in a passing offense - and that has never worked for any team.

But, I think the biggest reason for Riley to consider a benching is due to that 3rd down play. If Mike Riley and the OC really called a Bootleg Run with no passing option and Armstrong freelanced himself into a pass - then to me that is simply insubordination by your QB. You cant have your QB not running the plays that are called on any football team. Everyone has to be on the same page. And this isnt high school football where a kid makes a mistake and its ok we'll get em the next week. Its not. This is big time D1 football and guy's careers are on the line.

IMO, I think Riley and his staff should use yesterday as a teaching moment. He should hold Armstrong accountable for his actions and at least bench him for the 1st half of the next game and maybe even the whole game depending on how the backup plays. He needs to make it clear that freelancing is not acceptable. That playing smart football is 100% necessary at all times. And that blatant intentional willful insubordination will not be tolerated. The QB runs the plays that are called period.

There's too much at stake here and if I was the coach, I'd have a real problem trusting Armstrong from here on out. If he cant even run the simplest plays correctly, how can he be trusted for other things? I wouldnt allow him to make that mistake again. I'd try the next guy.

Even if it got to the point of benching tommy which it never will..........Who do you bring in?? Ryker? Not a chance

  9. After watching the Iowa vs Wisconsin game how many can sit there and say that Wisconsin scares you? Same could be said about Illinois but the odds of Tommy having another terrible day are hopefully not very good. I'm feeling a bounce back week if the OC can stay out of his own way.

  10. How many games does Bo win the last two years without Ameer? Going to go out on a limb and say he wouldn't have reached the 9 win mark. As for Bo coaching them up I didn't realize he was an offensive coach, I could have sworn he worked with the defense since you know that was his forte. And how has that defense been since he lost Suh? not very good to say the least

Maybe I'm reading too much into this but this is very disturbing. Putting myself into Lewis's shoes I wouldn't say "we suck" if I felt like I personally played poorly. If so I'd just skulk off the field and keep my mouth shut. I take his comment to mean we suck but feels it's not really his fault or maybe not even his teammates fault which logically means it's the coaches fault. If some players feel that way and aren't buying into the new staff that would explain some things. This isn't the first time I've gotten the sense that these players aren't giving it their all. I think Riley won't have success until he gets his own players recruited. Not because he needs certain players to fit his offense or defense, just to flush out some current players. Someone please interpret some other way so I don't feel this way.

He wont be successful until his players he recruits in here.. This is the worst excuse I ever here people make.. I mean the coach he is replacing was what 9-4- 10-4 and 10-4 all with players he didnt recruit?

Yup because Suh is walking through the door tomorrow to suit up. It's two completely different situations with two different rosters. Bo inherited a roster full of talent can't say the same for Riley.
