  1. Got to hand it to Riley and Co. After a slow start to both the season and recruiting, they most certainly have finished strong to give us something to look forward to next year and the years following. The 2017 class could be even be better than this years class!

    GBR!

To think simply a month ago people were ready to light the torches

  2. Do we really want Jackson with they way he is going back and forth and demanding "more love" from the coaches?

Just seems like trouble and be the first to jump ship if he doesn't get his way onto the field.

If you're talking Lamar Jackson then yes. Without hesitation

  3.

I still don't have any issue with his size. He's 6'3 245. If he can get to 260-270, that's enough size. I don't like it when the DE's are 280+, because I would rather have fast DE's, chasing down the QB. Yes, O-linemen are getting bigger, but against the run, most DE's are asked to hold their ground and occupy blocker(s) and free up the LB's and safeties to make the tackles.

That's the main reason why one would want the bigger size, right? Seriously, the "new normal" linemen these days is ~300lb, ripped, athletic, and can run, like that Nkemdiche guy. That's the way it's going as far as I can tell--if you want to be a contender, that is. Leonard Williams, 6'5", 291, remember him?

Which DE's have given Nebraska OT's more trouble?? Speed Rushers my friend

That's what I would love to see us get back to.....guys that can just run and get after the QB

  4.

    Just for context:

    2013
    David Knevel OT 3* .8765
    Zach Hannon OT 3* .8625
Matt Finnin (JC) OT 3* .8484
    Dwayne Johnson OT 3* .8363
Chongo Kondolo (JC) OT 3* .8167

    2012
    Paul Thurston OT 4* .9357
    Corey Whitaker OT 3* .8322

    Recruiting:

    1-Callahan

    2-Riley

    3-Pelini

    4-Solich

    Play Calling

    1-Solich

2-Pelini/Riley (Riley could easily move up

    99-Callahan

Say what you want about Callahan but the man knew how to call a game

2004 Iowa State begs to differ. He also had some stinkers in 2007 (Missouri, Texas A&M, Oklahoma State).

I'm sure on every play callers resume there will be some stinkers thrown in there

Sharp and Benning just finished talking to Fant on the radio. Fant basically said if NU would have started recruiting him hard after the coaching change instead of waiting things would be different and he may be coming to NU. He said he likes NU and coach Riley, but basically they started recruiting him hard too late. Benning of coarse is defending him right now.

He would be nice to get he is a great athlete, but in the end he is still a project that may be great or may never really do anything in college.

See, I'm in the camp where that is a balogna reason.

Sure, it's his recruitment and he can do it however he likes, but that's a bunch of bologna and makes him sound very self centered.

    Totally agree...check the ego Noah

  7. Here is my opinion

1.Pelini- Very mediocre obviously. That's not to mention his off the field actions. I think he deserved to be fired, but sadly I think he's our best coach since Osborne. Since Pelini took over a team that had 2 losing seasons in 4 years while Solich took over a team that had won 3 NCs in 4 years, I put him higher than Solich.

2.Solich A lot of people here seem to think he was a good coach, but I don't see why he should be considered any better than our version of Larry Coker. (Who everybody cites as the best example of taking down a great program.) Actually I think Solich is worse than our version of Coker since Coker won one nearly two national titles and finished with a higher win % than Solich. And Coker didn't inherit a program that had won national titles in 3 of the previous 4 years either.

3.Riley- Pretty big gap between him and Solich. Solich and Pelini were at least respectable coaches, but I'm not sure Riley is. However, he hasn't coached long enough to put him on the Callahan bad level.

    4. Bill Callahan- God awful coach

The last three were fired that should tell you all you need to know.....Not sure how you can rank Riley already after one season. That gap you think you see between MR and FS is that Solich inherited a Heisman winning QB

Steve Wiltfrong or whatever his name is put a CB prediction in for Iowa on Farniok AND Jackson.

Ugh. Ultimate choke job if that ends up happening

    Who?

He is one of the head directors of recruiting on 247. 90% success rate in predictions. He doesn't really just guess. Often uses "sources" with his explanations. Idk I am just becoming a lot more worried about this one.

If we lose Farniok my feeling about this class goes down a lot. ESPECIALLY losing him to Iowa. And ESPECIALLY if Iowa takes Alaric Jackson from us too (which Wiltfong also predicted) ON TOP of the fact that they already took Noah Fant. I know we have some other solid pieces but OT is a position of huge need and losing big recruits to Iowa of all teams would be extremely disappointing.

To be honest I don't think he's ever been super impressed with this staff. I think he likes them but isn't over the top impressed or for some reason we just having had the "ah ha" moment for him. He's always been coy when talking about Nebraska so I always considered him the long shot and we were probably a back up for him. I think he's a good get so I hope someone else says something to turn him off and make him like us better.

And what do you base all of this off?? He's been down to Lincoln a number of times. I wouldn't quite say we are a back up

I'd take Beck over Langsdorf any day. For a QB genius he sure did a sh**ty job with Armstrong.

It's pretty well known by now, or at least I thought it was, that TA wasn't taking direction for Langsdorf very well. He was channeling his inner Farve(who he spent time with last summer) instead and tried to be a gun slinger. Once he finally decided he f'd up, after the regular season, and admitted it he looked different in the Bowl game. Once he decided to finally listen to Langsdorf for the bowl game weren't as many crazy passes, better game management, used his legs more instead of trying to force throws. So, I'm not sure what you are talking about. Don't blame TA being selfish on Langsdorf.

Langsdorf should bench his QB if the QB does not follow directions. If one player gets away with not being a team player, more will follow.

Was Ryker a team player when he skipped summer workouts?

Do you know the exact details of why he wasn't there? NO, I'm not talking about message board rumors.

Until we know that, I'm not sure we can judge the actions of last summer.

Whether you know the reason or I know the reason. Fact is he wasn't there. What are you his dad trying to defend him?

Can't say I agree with Eichorst here:

We were in every ballgame with a chance to win every ballgame, which I think is the standard here.

NU "shouldn't be in the ballgame" with teams like Illinois, BYU, Purdue, and even Northwestern. NU should be getting enough talent and coaching so that those are no contests in the 4th quarter and not coming down to the last minutes.

    This times infinity

It's not like Bo was beating the brakes off Northwestern or Minny

However, Bo was beating the brakes off numerous teams each year to get to 9 wins. I am not arguing that Bo should have been retained because he wasn't doing enough to get to NU to a championship level.

I am saying that Riley can't be content with 4 or 5 blowout wins and being close (to win or loss) in the rest of the 7-8 games, and say "darn, we lost a few close games this year, that's why we didn't win the division/conference".

I would say Bo's teams were much closer to going 5-7 than 11-2 the last couple seasons. There were some pretty unfortunate situations this year that caused the record (BYU hail mary, Tommy out vs Purdue, Tommy's 3rd down throw vs Illinois) All things that are easily fixable.

For the WE ARE NEBRAKSA WE SHOULD BEAT EVERY TEAM BY 60 people. You guys need to wake up and see that's not happening with anyone anymore. Ohio State with MUCH more talent than Nebraska was skimming by all season with close games. It's a different game than it was 20 years ago it's time you join 2016

This is not just about TA. Players must follow the coaches decisions.

Why did Ryker skip? Are summer workouts mandatory?

Totally agree, however these players were brought in by other coaches and been with them the last couple years. So there will be an adjustment period that will take place

Also announcing via a Bleacher Report video. He has already filmed the video and it will be released February 1.

Any idea when his was taped?

Because it makes this maybe a little more telling.

Williams at his school today and in-home tonight.

Unless the coaches don't know what's on the tape.

What is telling about it IYO?

Why would we go visit him if he has made the tape and picked someone else? I'm sure he let the coaches know when he made the tape
