  1. BR may think he got the last laugh; but doesn't he now run the risk of getting spit in his food or something next time he goes out. It's always a good policy to be really nice to people who handle the food you're going to eat.

That's one of the reasons I tend to tip well. We go out to eat a lot, and it's usually the same 8-10 places. Staff and servers that remember you as a good tipper makes for more enjoyable dining experiences. That and feel bad that they had to deal with and pick up after my 3 kids, all under the age of 4.

  2. No one has posted the reservoir dogs clip yet?

Funny that just popped into my head as I was reading this.

If the cost of providing the service was included in the price of food, it would be different. But it's not (except for some very minimal amount). If you want to eat food but not pay for service, you should eat at a place that doesn't provide service, like Broncos (mmmm, now I'm hungry).

And if you don't want to hear people complain about your crappy 5-7 team, don't go out in public. Up here in MN nobody really even cares about their own crappy 5-7 team.

Has anyone figured out what restaurant it was? I'd like to go give Trey a big tip.

  3. Do you get rewarded when you f#*k up at your job? The personal aspect is part of being a waiter, and tips are nothing more than a reward for a job well done.

Don't do it well, don't get a tip. Pretty simple.

No, I don't get rewarded, but I still get a paycheck. That's where perhaps I differ with others here. I think up to some minimum amont (e.g. 15%), you are paying for the service they are providing. A "reward" would be anything above that for good service.

Not a smart move by the waiter, but doesn't not justify not getting a tip IMO. After all, nobody knows how good the service was (or wasn't).

Isn't everyone in the state of Nebraska bashing Nebraska football right now? Whatever he said couldn't have been that terrible. It's just that this guy said it to the wrong person at the wrong time.

BR shouldn't take it so personal, and be happy that they have such passionate fans that want their team to do well, and hurt when they don't.

I think it's perfectly fine for BR to leave a note to call him out, but to punish him by not tipping takes it a bit too far.

Completely disagree. My wife got through college working at a restaurant in Tampa that was frequented quite often by the local pro athletes. It was a known policy to never talk trash about the local teams, no matter what, because you make those patrons feel unwelcome. They fired people for it, because you never knew who might be within earshot

I agree with your disagreement. It completely makes sense to have these sorts of rules in places like this, and I'm not saying the waiter didn't do anything wrong. I'm just not too keen on the idea that BR decided not to pay for a service that he was provided because somebody said something he didn't like. Leaving the note is fine, or even complaining to the manager would be okay by me. But if you're that quick to not tip anything, I'm not sure you should be going to full service restaurants.

    Quick Lane Bowl

    Ford Field, Detroit

    Mon., Dec. 28, 5 p.m. (ESPN2)

    Schlabach: NC State vs. Indiana

    McMurphy: Virginia Tech vs. Nebraska

Detroit? How did Detroit get a bowl game? Isn't that like having to play the World Cup in Qatar?

I guess that's your punishment for finishing 5-7, you are sent to Detroit over the holidays to think about how the err of your ways.

  6. I haven't watched that play recently, but I recall it being a little more clear back in 2009 that there was indeed 0:01. On Saturday I think it was correct that time had expired.

But I enjoy reading about conspiracy theories, so please continue.

  7. Difference in the game so far in my opinion is when Langsdorf called that bubble screen pass that got blow-up for a loss right after Nebraska was driving the ball with the running game inside Michigan State's 30 yard line.

It was a drive killing play-call decision. Probably could have gotten a touchdown, but had to settle for the field goal.

Pretty much every stalled drive thus far was because we abandoned the run.
