Husker performance has been an embarrassment to the Big 12 ever since they jumped ship and joined the Big 10.

Illinois 48 - Purdue 14. Perhaps Illinois should seize the name "blackshirts" - it sure as heck does not fit Nebraska.

Only way is if you hire a big-name elite coach who top recruits want to play for -- someone like Saban, Meyer, etc. The only guy even remotely close to that level that we'd have a slight shot at getting would be Jim Tressel.

Why in the world would a top flight coach want to say yes to Nebraska? It's not going to happen - Geesh! An up and comer? Perhaps, but even that is iffy.

The fans and bloggers sure did a number when they hired Solich, Callahan, Pellini and Riley. Then, they doubled up and fired Solich, Callahan and Pellini. In between all the hiring and firing, they played, coached and lost a bunch of games as well as diminish the brand of Nebraska football. Those darn fans and bloggers, always up to no good!

 

Pretty soon those same fans and bloggers will quit packing the stadium every football Saturday as well, and put a nail in the coffin of the final nationally relevant record that Nebraska has. But wait, that hasn't happened yet. Can you explain why?

Nebraska hasn't finished as a Top 10 team since 14 years ago - 2001. Most students at NU can't even remember that! It is time that you do a reboot to the new reality.

I slept through the game this last week. Did the score shock me when I awoke? Absolutely not. We were one Heisman running back play from losing to Mcneese state last year. This is not the coaching staffs fault. This is not anything new to this team in recent years. My old ball coach used to say it takes a little luck, and Pelini had some luck to hit those 9 wins, i.e Mcneese, Northwestern Hail Mary, Pulling it out against MSU in the final drive come to mind. Last year could have easily went this poorly.

 

I just have to laugh at myself and our fan base. We did this. Really, we made our bed. Look in the mirror the problem is us. What an entitled bunch we are.

 

Riley is here another year so shut up. Thats the bottom line. It hurts doesnt it? Sell your tickets, quit watching, do what you have to do for the next couple years and we will see you when Obrian and the Twins are stomping ass. Herman who inherited a very very VERY ripe Houston program(the last 10+ years) isnt going to come in and do any better, A matter of fact, Im convinved Danny L. has forgotten more about football than Herman knows, And Im serious. The grass is always greener on the other side.

 

Is there much to look forward to next year? No. The year following? I doubt it. Year 4 and 5? I think so. Tuck that lip in, quit the bitching, and wait. Good things come to those who wait. In the world of instant gratification makes it difficult, I know.

 

To the Owner of this Forum: I would like to see a limit on starting to topics so we dont get so many negative posts out of left field from knee jerkers. It doesnt help an online forum and it doesnt help the team. Even Shaggy Texas has this rule. Install it.

Exactly right. Hasn't been a Top 10 program finish since 2001 - that is 14 years ago! Hire some "magic man" coach and suddenly become national champions? Ridiculous. Many other high powered programs are after the same thing - and doing it successfully. The Huskers will have to do it the old fashioned way - earn it! Past days of glory are long gone - too many fans just haven't caught up with that fact.

I'm bumping this as they're 3-5 and just lost to Iowa State (The Big 12s Purdue),....anyone wanna change their mind?

KU versus Nebraska would be a toss up this year - I would lean toward KU. In case you missed it, ISU hammered KU, in addition to shutting out Texas.

Nebraska jumped from the Big 12 because they knew they could not win there. Now they are losers in a lesser conference.

Huskers have not been a significant team on the college landscape for years. If they were still in THE Big 12 they would be competing with KU to stay out of the cellar.
