The protesters initially gathered behind a curtain and chanted. then they stormed in as athletic director Jim Phillips was speaking.

Northwestern president Morton Schapiro says despite the interruption students were brave for speaking out like they did.

Just to be clear, protestors at Northwestern athletics event had come from a larger rally on campus. Wasn't organized for this event alone.

wow. what a bunch of silliness. everyone's gotta be special i guess.

  2. A fair argument can be made that anyone who commits a crime has a mental issue. That excuse is a non-starter and was, at best, disappointing.

i mean, there's apparently something "wrong" with em. "mental issues" and all. kind of like the kid that hacked the jogger to death in dallas. i'm sure he has "mental issues", does that make him less guilty? he's just kinda wrong and it isn't his fault? not really wrong even though it's certainly not right? sounds like a truckload of horsestuff to me. of course there's something "wrong" with these people. something in their brain tells them it's okay to kill innocent people or make things up to get people fired/get attention. we could go on all day about what may, or may not, go on in a person's brain. "right" or "wrong", people are what they are and we need to decide if it's ok to be a murderer and/or a liar.

I'm a supporter of fingerprint recognition triggers

Let us all know when they make one that actually works (because they don't), and then I'll still be against them. What if I want or need someone else to shoot my firearm?

That's not home defense and not for hunting.

The second amendment is about shooting at a government or enemy that oppresses the citizenry. Home defense and hunting has nothing to do with the Second Amendment.

glad to here someone else say this. as far as guncontrol, i'm all for confiscating guns from criminals and illegal firearms, but we crossed the line on having guns in america a loooooong time ago. we have millions upon millions of guns that have been around long before fancy means of tracking them.

i do think parents should be responsible for what their children do, we let kids get away with too much nowadays.

i read in the dallas morning news about a month ago that some kid hacked a guy to death in dallas while he was on his morning jog, the victims wife has since commited suicide. it's all a very unfortunate incident to say the least. all i heard was how this "kid" (about 20 years old) had a history of mental illness...you think he had mental illness? i'll say he does, he hacks people to death with machetes out of impulse. i'd say he's pretty fricking sick. the dumbassery in this country is getting out of hand.

What ideas do people think we should have for gum control? If any?

    Some type of mental evaluation

And does anyone really need an ak47 with a fully automatic and 3000 round banana clip? That's not home defense and not for hunting. All it does is serve as compensation for something you feel inferior about.

The only people with something like that are either rich (because automatic weapons cost $10k+), or have a government connection.

    or criminals

so all those cheap houses east of campus aren't in bad neighborhoods? i don't mind a remodel, but the crime around an area is important. i might buy something next summerish, obviously want to check the town and gameday atmosphere out for a bit first. just wondering. thnx for the replys.

IMHO, no neighborhoods in Lincoln are all that dangerous. Of course there are some poorer areas but nothing terrible. I lived in the highest crime area in Lincoln for 4 years and really liked it there. *shrug*

i didn't think lincoln would have any areas like baton rouge, i assume the whole city is fairly safe. i'm just looking for something to live in for football seaason and later just for home game weekends.

House or apartment? It might be cool to live in one of the new Haymarket apts. You're going to get completely opposite suggestions if you're not more detailed though. For instance I'd prefer not to live east of 33rd street or south of South street. But I like old houses and being able to buy things from local stores that I can get to on a bike. I'm sure there are people here who would never have any interest at all in living where I like to live.

it depends on what i'm getting for my money. i can remodel a house by myself over time. i wouldn't mind a condo either, but i doubt i'll rent. as far as lifestyle, i do like an area where i don't have to travel very far on a day to day basis. if i can walk instead of drive, i'd prefer that, but i don't like to shop everyday.

That's a pretty damning, but entirely fair article.

i've been following this somewhat. the whole ordeal looks staged, from start to finish. the prez needs to get his job back, looks like some students need to be expelled, at the least. isn't mizzou a big journalism school? something dirty going on in columbia, more so than usual...

Are you Mike Riley finally feeling comfortable enough to buy a house? ;)

i'm thinking an investment in a home might be a good idea depending on what happens in the next 3 weeks, but i'm not mike riley, so there's that. :cheers

You might buy tickets to a Husker game next summer-ish, you mean?

i meant a small house. i'll probably spend a little bit of time in lincoln next summer. check the place out. hopefully i'll be working from home by then so looking for a little something to live in. nothing big, not saying i'd settle there, but always have a place to stay during football season. an alternative to buying a 1br broomcloset diguised as a condo, lol.

You got me curious as what houses go for around downtown.

South of downtown there's an apartment for sale for $53,000 near the State Capitol.

There a house 2 blocks south for $65,000 that seems to be in good shape.

Maybe I looked into your inquiry a bit too much, but here you go... Haha!

    wow. thnx a bunch! :worship

i think one is a retirement community, but the other looks nice enough. only a fifteen minute walk to campus.
